I feel his biggest mistake was allowing himself to get hurt with the left hook right off the bat in the first round. This put him in the hole and made it uphill from that point on.
He should have been a bit more guarded and measured to begin the fight. He should have boxed more and used his jabs,..and then puchned in spots without getting too greedy.
That would have been a good first step.
But Tito was at the top of his game,..and was also a beast at 154lbs. He had outgrown the welterweight division a couple years prior.
On his last fight he came out with Calle 13 and the song name was 'Latinoamerica'. Not sure if this is the one you are looking for, probably not.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkFJE8ZdeG8
Thanks Bro,
I checked out Calle 13,..
There is another track he does,...I think that is the one.
Hey,...Does anyone out there know what song it is that Sergio Marivilla Martinez plays??
I remember a fight or two ago,....Not sure --maybe the Paul Williams fight or somewhere thereabouts,..He played a song that sounded foriegn.
Can anyone help me?
This song had a lot of drumming in it.....It kind of sounded like a marching style of music,..But cool !!!!
If it doesn't get made,..I'm going to assume that it will be d/t Mayweather's side.
The word ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe this proposed fight.
When has Mayweather EVER created this many obstacles to fighting someone. I dare anyone on here to name one fighter on his resume who did. All we hear about is how easy it will be for him to defeat Pacquiao.
Then show us Floyd. If not,..
I just hope his PPV sales drop below 300,000 buys. Wouldn't that be justice??
I know his numbers will drop if he fight Pac on May 2nd,..it's just a matter of how much they will decline.
The entire world wants to see Mayweather fight Pac.
He will make over $100 million dollars for "easy work".
The entire boxing world wants Pacquiao to be his next opponent.
Not Amir Khan, Not Marcos Maidana, not Miguel Cotto. not anyone else.
The boxing public made Mayweather who he is and made him a multi millionaire.
Steven A. Smith actually said this^^^
If Mayweather doesn't sign,...and goes on to fight someone else,..Then HE SHOULD LOSE HIS P4P STATUS. Pacquiao or GGG should be P4P #1 at that time.
This is not even debatable.
I look at it this way.
This fight is supposed to be one of the "easiest" fights ever for Mayweather. It's supposed to be "an ass-whipping",.."he'll pick him apart",..etc...etc.
He's supposed to make over a $100 million!!!!!
All for such easy work.
4-5 years ago Bob Arum wasn't the issue,....it was the drug testing.
Then it was purse split,...
Now it's Bob Arum.
I can't believe people keep standing with Floyd. Even the great fighters are getting frustrated: Hearns, Lennox, SRL, Roy Jones, Duran,..Tyson, etc.
STEVE SMITH OF ESPN IS EVEN GETTING FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So how people defend Floyd at this point is almost a mental thing.
My vote is for "Legacy",...or "Here and Now"
Tito, Tyson, Chavez sr., Jones, Duran and Barrera walk out with Pacquiao.
Whittaker, Holyfield, Leonard, Foreman and possibly DeLaHoya walk out with Mayweather.
:headbang:
Tim Lane??!!!?????
Are you serious???
Why aren't Roger or Floyd sr. on here. They are obnoxious dickheads,...but are amazing trainers.
Tim Lane was delusional and clueless,..Before, during and after the Pacquiao fight. :pat:
I hear you guys. It could be really stupid. It really depends how will he does it(if he even tries to). I'm just saying it could be a surprise problem for Floyd.
I realize Pac is a southpaw. I realize that is his big challenge for Floyd(maybe).
But just having that extra sophistication for Floyd to make it harder to be figured out.
I agree with the other replies that even if he did try it...It should be done very rarely and very sparingly. Maybe only if things arent' working as planned in southpaw.
I think if things aren't working well for Manny in southpaw,...then it will probably just be the beginning of the end of any hopes of winning.
If Manny attempted to fight orthodox,..I don't think it would happen until mid fight. If he does really well in the first 4-5 rounds. And there is a sense that he is ahead or has a good shot to pull off a win,..........then switching to orthodox in response to Mayweather beginning to figure him out and time him. This could concievably throw off Mayweather and make him start the figuring out process all over again.
Manny has the handspeed to pull this off,....He has to exhibit an edge in handspeed in the beginning of the fight though. If that doesn't happen then fighting his usual southpaw stance should not be deviated from.
I have a feeling Roach is going to have Manny do something a bit unusual in this fight,....and I'm not sure what it is. It could be something as simple as just going speed, high punch output,..and win the rounds one at a time. Only go for a KO very sparingly. Or he's going to do something which might be risky. We are all going to know something in the first 2 rounds of this fight. The main thing we will know is how Pacs speed stacks up.
We won't know a lot about Mayweather until rds 4,5 and 6. Because assuming that Pac DOES stack up with speed and effectiveness,...this is when we would need to see Mayweather start to become a counterpunching pain in the ass for Manny.
I'm really getting excited for this fight,..
I've been watching lots of training footage of both camps. I watch the training videos every damn day. Mayweather's all look the same,..except for maybe some more bodypunching on that big man with the Body Protector and on the heavy bag. Outside of that Floyd looks typical.
Manny appears to be doing way more running,..especially lots and lots and lots of hill running. The other thing a bit different about Manny was the abundance of shadowboxing. Shadowboxing is for speed. Especially the way Manny does it.
Then I saw the video of Manny and Freddy doing a lengthy session on the mitts in orthodox. Manny looked good. Just saying.
But looking good on the mitts is one thing,....doing it on Floyd or being successful against Floyd is quite a jump.
If Freddy was going to try this out,...then Algieri, or maybe Bradley would have been a better proving ground.
The toughest fight for Krusher would be Toney, IMO.
Styles make fights. Prime Toney was 168 pounds. But I think he would be close to prime at 175. His counterpunching and good chin would be there all night for Krusher. Really hard to see Krusher taking out Toney.
Roy Jones may be able to finesse and potshot with his handspeed for 12 rounds. RJJ didn't have the 1-2 shot KO power at 175 like he did at 160/168. So I don't think he could take out Krusher. But he might buzz him or even rock him good occassionally. My concern for Jones would be "what if" Krusher tagged him good with that monster right? His left hook isn't bad either. I have to be honest. He could KO Jones. Would he?? I'm not sure. We're talking prime Jones. It would be exciting.
I think Krusher beats Hopkins at any age. Prime Hopkins would win more round though. Might be a split decision. It would be narrower,...but I see Kovalev pulling it off. :hail:
I think the biggest point of disrespect towards Floyd is the perception that he was ducking Manny. And this may fold into the 3 Mayweather's showing their disrespect.
I personally feel that Floyd enjoys playing games with people BECAUSE HE CAN. Like buying the sports car in the wee hours of the morning BECAUSE HE COULD. I think a lot of the percieved ducking of Pacquiao may have just been AN "UP YOURS" TO BOB ARUM.
It's hard to wrap my head around the idea that Floyd was "afraid" of Manny.
I'm not saying he isn't afraid. But I just question it. He's too accomplished to be afraid of Manny. But maybe I'm wrong.
I think a better word is concerned about Manny. Because Manny is going to put some leather on him. And it's going to be hard leather.
It also makes me believe that the older Mayweather's themselves are overlooking Manny. But I wonder if that arrogance and dismissiveness superimposes onto Floyd jr.
If it doesn.....than it could be a shocking experience for Floyd jr. Becasue Manny is going to take Floyd where he hasn't been. And the reverse is true. Manny has a riddle to figure out on May 2nd. And this riddle is a hell of a counterpuncher.
The last time I felt Floyd made a real statement was when he beat up and Ko'd Corales.
That was a long time ago.
Manny Pacquiao is a whole different ball game.
I can see Floyd getting a decision.
But making a statement or knocking Manny out like Roger and Jeff suggest. I think it's a long shot.
I think Manny will eat some Floyd rights. No getting around that. But that's because Manny forces the action.
I'm picking Manny to win the fight. But I can also see Floyd winning the fight(but by decision).
My beef with the Mayweather group is that they feel it will be easy. It will be anything but easy.
These 3 guys are just gonna look so stupid if an A+ Manny shows up May 2nd and wins a UD or TKO's Floyd.
I get all of that. But their collective attitude is contempt, arrogance, dismissiveness,...with a shot of stupidity thrown in.
I mean these guys have a collective IQ that is <100.
I think they are a bit on the racist side TBH.
But it is even beyond that.
And this crap that the Mayweather's go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about little Pacquiao being a steroid monster??!!
Give me a break.
Have you seen what Floyd looks like lately?
Floyd looks like a bodybuilder in front of Manny!!!!!!!!!!!
It is Floyd that looks like a steroid user.
The weigh-in will be interesting. Pac is going to look small.
But he is the steroid cheat??
Come on!!
The Mayweather's have been disrespectful of Roach for a long time. IT JUST DIDN'T START WITH THIS FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes,..............I agree,..for this fight Roach has talked most of the ****. About 70% of it.
But the whole "Freddy the joke coach Roach" goes back to the Hatton fight and the ODLH fights.
Come on!!!!!!!!!
I like the replies!!
I see that alot of people are maintaining good humor about this possible match up. There is way too much B.S. getting in the way.
I'm worried that by the time the fight gets made one of the fighters will be tainted or too old(mayweather, he's what 34). Remember Ray Leonard,...he was shot at 34, so was Jones, and so on.
That's one of the reasons why I pick Pac. I think as of right now Mayweather will be off by a bit. A bit will possibbly spell disaster against the talent and arsenal of Pac.
I don't know. It's frustrating to me. They will probably make a Marquez fight for Pac. I don't want to see this. Pac will probably destroy him. Especially at 147. Who wants to see this??
This is disgusting!!
I guarantee you that this little act from Marg/Rios will bring out the fire in Pacquiao when they get in the ring.
I really believe that the beating Pac will give Marg is going to be at least as bad as what Mosley did.
Keep making fun of Roach Marg,................while you still can!!
For the past couple years I figured that Floyd will represent some serious challenges to Pac. To some extent I believe this still holds true. However,...Pac continues to get stronger at WW. He hasn't been in this weight range for very long. I think now is the time for him to fight Floyd. He is at his peak at this weight.
Floyd's defense and counterpunching will work against Pac in spots. The thing with Floyd is that he has always been able to shut down his opponent at some point. This is where Pacquiao will be different. He won't be able to Shut down Pac. Pacquiao will always keep throwing. He is a different guy. He won't get frustrated. He is too fast. Both hands are destructive. Watch his last several fights. At some point Floyd is going to take some hits. This is where he will start to break down. I don't think he will have the heart to keep Pac off of him or continue with,...let's say a swollen eye or body punch damage.
I see Floyd getting tired later in the fight. His age may actually be a factor in the fight. I wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd get stopped before the 9th or 10th rds.
At the very least, the fight will be very entertaining. The defense and the counterpunching will be a challenge for Floyd, at least initially. I just don't think it is going to shut down Pacquiao like so many Floyd fans believe.
Pacquiao is going to be on his A** all the way. And everything he throws has got hurt written on it. His balance is good and he is always in position. Floyd won't be able to keep his finger on this guy trust me.
Just my opinion though. Anything can happen in there. I just think Pac is special.
The comment about the weak jab that Shane has is right down the middle correct. I can just see it right now. Shane throws that flicking jab and then Pacquiao tags him 4-5x. Eventually Pac will shut the jab down after that scene plays itself out about 4-5 times. Then it will get really bad for Shane when he doesn't have a jab.
I love Shane and it's going to be hard to watch.
I like the responses. As expected there are folks that think and believe that Mosley can drop or knock out Pacquiao. I think he can buckle and possibly get a flash knockdown in a very BEST CASE SCENARIO. But I don't think it will. Pacquiao takes hard shots in sparring and has been hit on occasion by really good shots(Cotto a few times, Margarito a few times) Those guys have comparable if not equal power to Mosley. Mosley is NOT a really huge puncher. Good puncher----yes. An ice cold/one shot power hitter----not at all. Not at all. Only was at lightweight.
It's not just going to be Manny's handspeed which is quite a bit better than Mosley's speed(at this point). It's going to be the IN-Out foot work/angles.
Remember when Cotto's speed and boxing was really getting to Mosley.
Then multiply that time 3-4. I'm serious. Accept Pac will be hurting him and busting him up more because he puts more of himself into the shots than Cotto does.
You would have to go all the way back to 2003 to have Mosley being competitive. I think the Mosley of 7-10 years ago would have provided and 50-50 fight.
Gawd,.....is Pacquiao ever going to fight Mayweather. That's what I want to see. That's what everyone wants to see. Enough of the BS
I think Shane's speed is definitely a question mark. It looked really good vs. Marg. but Marg. is slow. I just don't know what to expect in this fight. The first thing I'm going to look at in this fight in the first and second rounds is what does Mosley's speed look like in comparison to Floyds. If there is a significant disparity than Mosley has only a punchers chance. If he has competitive handspeed then it might be a good fight.
Assuming that Mosleys handspeed is there than he has to throw alot of punches.
This is going to be a tough fight for Shane.
I am thinking Shane will show up well prepared. My other curiosity about this fight is how Floyd takes Shanes fast right hand. I'm almost as curious to see this!!
This will be an entertaining night for sure. Can't wait.
I really believe that the biggest obstacle to Floyd vs. Manny has always been Bob Arum. I'm not saying it's the only obstacle,..but the most pressing obstacle. I really think that the 800 pound elephant in the room is Floyd's ego vs. Arums greed and ego.
From a business standpoint this was an impossible hurdle.
From a boxing standpoint: Manny was at his peak during and after the Hatton and Cotto fights. There is no way anyone cannot tell me that this version wouldn't have given Floyd a real challenge.
Fast forward to present: Floyd is arguably the fresher man right now. Manny's speed and workrate is not quite what it used to be. Is it gone for good,...probably. Rios will provide some answers. Mainly in re: to Manny's chin,..But we will find out about other things too.
I think an impressive win against Rios should be enough to warrant Pac vs. May in May. The main reason for this is that the fighters are not getting any younger. Another defeat for Pac,..and it's over.
Allboxing AD....You are right!!!!!!
It is not a 1 way street.
I don't think Pac is afraid of Floyd,...at all.
But I do believe,..and have always believed that Bob Arum is a sleazy douche bag.
I think he has a huge hand in the fight not happening.
Floyd's ego + Bob Arum's shrewdness= fight not happening.
Floyd is ultimately not afraid of Pac.
He just hates and loathes doing business with Arum.
I'll admit,...I am having a tantrum
Because I love this sport.
It just makes me sick that Floyd will probably fight Khan.
How is Khan more deserving than Pacquiao.
Remember Lewis vs. Tyson.....It can happen.
It all boils down to a few things here:
1)There is video that has been posted numerous times of Mayweather saying he will fight Manny Pacquiao.
2)There are no other opponents that represent the $$$$ Floyd will make. This is the biggest reason. Floyd Sr., Floyd Jr., and Roger have said multiple times that Pac will be an incredibly easy fight,..."EASY WORK". I can't for the life of me understand that Floyd wouldn't want to make 50+Million,...for EASY WORK!!!
3)Pac is still the most skilled and physically imposing challenge at 147.
4)Pac's style of fighting is very taxing,..and he only has 1-2 fights left before he is irrelevant. The fight needs to be made ASAP,..or all is lost.
I believe Mayweather has some doubt about this fight. He knows it's not "easy work".....He may win(probably a decision),..but he knows he'll have to walk through fire to do it.
It would be at least as difficult as his fight with Cotto. And Floyd took a mild amount of punishment in that fight. Floyd don't like punishment. Pac will give him some,..Even if he doesn't win.
