I think Oscars is, but its funny how strikingly similar their path to fame is...
They both beat their countries legends when they were old, Tito beat camacho, Oscar beat chavez.
They both sorta re-launched their career by beating skill limited tough guys and made them fight past their real weights. Tito Mayorga, Oscar Gatti.
both beat old drug damaged whitaker, and didnt look good doing it.
Both had some trouble with Vargas before stopping him and both got stopped against hopkins.
Felix ate Winky's jab all nite and Oscar ate Sturms.Oscar had trouble with Felix, I wonder where Winky would be if he was given a shot 5 or 6 years ago instead everyone ducking him.
3rd Wright fight I've watched, excellent boxer, boring fighter, I'll read about his fights from now on and save my money for Arturo. He's like a lighter Chris Byrd impressive but boring.
yeah tyson gave us so many great moments.like being knocked out 5 times and fight and knocking out complete bums for the most of this career and then getting beat down by any fight who isnt afraid of the hype around him.yeah tyson is so cool.no other heavyweight champion that i can rememeber besides buster douglas was knocked out more than tyson.
tyson is 38 years old.foreman came back at 38 and fought to he was 48 and nobody knocked him down or out period.tommy morrison alex steward, evander holyfield, micheal moorer, gerry cooney, and shannon briggs.all guys foreman fought once he was past 40 and they all landed big punches and none could hurt foreman.so what does that say about tyson?is foreman god?is so he so special?well yes and no.foreman was great.not built up because the media needed a person to fill the void left when ali foreman and frazier retired.
tyson was never anything special.sure he has alot of knock outs but against who?micheal spinks?marvis frazier?does that make you great now?you tyson fan boys will never grasp the fact that tyson is a loser.a stupid disgraceful loser.his punch was only good against c level opponents.infact even it was only good against d level oppoenents.his chin was pathetic.i dont care how many punches douglas and holyfield hit him with if he was good he should of never been knocked down.niether douglas or holyfield have knocked out anybody else but tyson.well holyfield didk knock out mike moorer.hopefully this fool never fights again.hopefully you morons will see how worthless this bum is and will always be.he is no frazier he is no foreman he is no ali norton holmes holyfield lewis lyle quarry shavers liston ect ect ect.just a average fighter who came along at the right time that is all.
let me say a few good things about the man before i end this.there is no way in hell he would of ever lost to a 185 pound man like the little boy marciano.he would of never lost to the glass chin joe louis.anybody before liston became champion besides maybe dempsey would of been beating down like a dog by tyson or any other true heavyweight.and at least tyson seems more humble now.hopefully he can find peace in his life without boxing.or if he wants to continue then go ask foreman how to be a man.and how to not get knocked out by bums :)
I noticed you conveniently left out the name Axle Shultz, remember that bullshit Foreman win, he looked like a real winner after that fight, can you say fixed ass whoopin.
Mike Tyson was and will likely always be the youngest heavyweight to win the championship, he also made more money in his last fight than fucking Ruiz/Toney Byrd/Mcline and Golota/Brewster combined.Tyson kept fighting because we were willing to pay to see him, hell I'd step in the ring against anyone for six mill, don't fault him.
He needed a tune up or two to get his confidence back. You could tell he was fighting with the memories of his last fights still on his mind.I think he still has some speed he showed it in spurts but was to scared and protective to really let go.He imitated his fighting birds in all aspects last nite minus will and heart.
Peter fights like an amateur, truly overhyped, shit he figured Klitchko was supposed to just stand there and be hit.Klitchko didn't look that great either considering his opposition but it was a hard win that will do more for his confidence than an easy one.Everything got tested, his chin, his stamina and his heart all three barely made it.
young lion vs old man
If that was all this hyped up young lion could show against an old man than he's no where near what their trying to make him out to be.He ain't no young Bernard and barely even a old one at that.He didn't impress me
he aint no where as good as his mouth says he is.I watched his fight with Johnson pretty boring shit. The Jones in the Griffin fight is who I'm hoping to see tonite.
Because he don't deserve it, got no legacy, and is tryin to ride the coat tales of an old man who just might kick his ass to try to get one.So you beat RJJ at the end of his career so what !!!!
my hero is now a zero, but even more of a concern what is up with Antonio's lip man (I ain't no racist, I'd say the same thing if Kellerman had big brown lip)
What surprised me was not only did he get cracked a good shot but he kept coming forward.I thought he was playing possum abit and I think Tarver did too as he backed off some.Roy had a weird ass look on his face when he came off the ropes.
I remember thinking these two beat Jones ? the old Roy would of smoked them both,I honestly think that fight was what brought Roy back.He realized that it was him who lost those fights more than them that beat him.
If Jones would of tried to win instead of just survive he'd of done a lot better. To much showboating, I was worried when I saw his big shit eating grin before the fight,no game face.
Not one shot in that fight rocked Vlad, he took all the shots and seemed to be fighting against something else but it wasn't the effect of any punches that were hurting him.It was a strange ending,I thought there was some weird shit going on 2 seconds after it was over you could see it.I ain't no Vlad lover or care about either of them really just saying it was pretty strange.
RJJ used to say that he holds back when he fights because if he ever let go he'd seriously hurt some one.Thats the guy I'm hoping to see,one last fight, balls to the wall and hair straight back and let the chips fall where they may.Hang on to your hat Tarver you ain't no Roy Jones Junior, never were and never will be.I give RJJ all the credit in the world for coming back and I think he will be back much to Tarvers dismay. He barely stayed with a weak Roy in the first fight then caught him with a good but lucky shot in the second fight.RJJ is rested and at his weight and pissed off.
Taylor will not get past Winky, he's very overrated,BHop is a slow starter and the fights were still very controversial.I think he has done it all and can retire with his head held very high. And thanks Bhop for getting Tarver out of the picture man he's irritating.
If Winky didn't win that fight last nite than there is no way Taylor beat Hopkins in either fight. This shit is getting boring, Taylor is way over rated, he's just a big middleweight with alot of people pulling strings for him.
He clearly did not dominate Taylor and Taylor is the Champion. You just don't give belts that easily to a fighter who didn't do enough. The draw is fine.....twas a great fight!
What !!! how the hell did Taylor get the belts from B-hop then ,3 controversial decisions in a row and he comes out with a win in all 3.Taylor maybe the future but lets let him work for it and quit giving him these gifts.
Still though after fighting a world class fighter and being questionably stopped in the 3rd it just shows how hurt he really was, mentally or physically.Calzaghe is like Floyd, the only thing he can hurt with his punches are his hands.I'm not pumping Manfredo he is what he is, I just find it bizzare after fighting a World Champion like Calzaghe and having to have the ref step in, to be able to fight again 3 weeks later no matter what class the opponent really lends creedence to an early stoppage and Calzaghe's questionable power. If I was Taylor or Kessler or B Hop I'd be chompin at the bit to get at him.
Ward went down from the shot to the ear that broke his eardrum, got up staggered all over the place, got himself into the corner so he could hold himself from falling, tapped his abs telling Gatti that was all he was gonna give him raised his hands to protect his head and took Gatti's body shots refusing to lower his hands and give his head up he showed the most intestinal fortitude I've ever seen. That boy had heart.
It would be cool to see Tyson fight someone his own size and see what he's got left. His last few fights other than Williams were against super heavyweights like Lewis and that Irish dude those were bad matchups for Mike.I'd rather he stayed retired but you know if he teamed up with some of his old stable like Rooney or Atlas it would sell.
nothing to do with Yanks
Man, this forum is full of jealous yanks who cannot accept the fact that a Brit was the heavyweight champ. Thats right, you heard right: A Brit. You yanks thing you got a God damn right to own the heavyweight division.
What the hell does wishing your Brit would of gave a Ukrainian a rematch have to do with Yanks thinking they own the belt, and this is coming from a Canadian.Lewis chickened out and now even worse he's beaking off from the safety of a commentators chair with absolutly no guts to ever give Vitali a rematch. It will forever be a footnote to his so called legacy.
After watching those two schmoes fight, Roy should stay retired if he got beat by them, very pitiful fight if you ask me.There was no power, no speed. Roy in his prime would of had his way with them both.If his skills have eroded to the point where either of these guys beat him please stay retired Roy.Shit they both Ko'd Roy and still couldn't sell a PPV
Lewis better be careful making a comeback decision,Vitali is no where near the same fighter now as he was in their fight. He is 100% better as was shown in the Williams fight. He throws hard accurate shots, uses wicked combinations and mixes his punches with ko power on everything. What impressed me was he never got rushed or got discouraged against Williams just methodically beat the crap out of him.He has turned the corner and Lewis would be crazy to rematch him,he know's it himself that's why he keeps coaching all Vitali's opponents. How the hell any man could beat a man on a cut and a cut only while losing in the judges and publics eyes, couldn't even get off his stool at the end and then retire and not give a rematch. He got beat, knows he got beat, and is afraid to get beat again, so he will be content to yip off from a commentators seat.It is typically arrogant of Lewis even in retirement to try to steal Vitali's limelight while doing nothing to earn it, Lewis left the way he fought with no class.
