i think jones will beat woods again....i think clinton is scared of him.
Roy shud fight woods and then retire as a champion and on a winning note - but really shud quit after that.....
funny how we dis fighters, Lennox Lewis for retiring early but Jones for wanting to carry on.
dissing jones cause he could have beat tarver! lennox did the right thing in my opinion! but he should have retired after a rematch with vitali.
But jones jr WTF! he made me so mad he is not a finisher! what kinda guy especially a pro supposed legend backs off a fight with a minute to go or more and does chicken dance moves with his head? and sticks his tongue out? Finish the guy man.
It Wont Matter Who He Beats Becusd He Has Lost To Tarver Twice And Maybe Even Three Times. I Dont Think Rj Will Be Seen As A Real Champ, And He Shouldnt Be, If He Cant Beat The 'real Champ'
I agree!
Roy jones in my opinion something aint right in his brain! I re watched that fight and he could have easily won that fight by a tko ! he had tarver hurt in the 5th and the 11th but backed off to do some showboating chicken moves! I think jones thought he can win by decision. Why would he need a decision when he could have continued to punish tarver in the corner? Jones doesnt have the championship heart that other fighters have! he is not a finisher! he just simply doesnt have any hunger. He dissappointed his fans who have stuck with him for so long.
I just dont get it my mentality is when a guy is hurt, finish him off or hurt him more.
While I agree with your assesment that a Roy should retire, I disagree with your take that a poor stretch after a fighter is clearly shot ruins a legacy.

Great fighters tend to be unable to let it go.
No one's going to say Michael Jordan's stint with the Wizzards ruined his legacy.
yeah, yeah. good call. i think the word 'ruined' was used a little too loosely. i think that it's really just more of a personal issue i have, i just hate seeing great fighters accumulate uneccesary losses in fights they didn't have to take at thee tail end of their career, you know? you're right though it doesn't literally ruin them. that was a dumb comment on my part.

i think he needs to retire as well. stop while he's ahead. as this forum has displayed- many still consider him to be one of the greatest despite the 2nd (decisive) tarver loss. however, this may not be the case if he takes another fight- and by whatever circumstance scores himself another L. and then another. and another. every boxer wants to leave on a win/good note. but this is a physiological irony, because the more an aging boxer tries to win after their old-man losing streak begins, the worse their legacy becomes.
i think roy is standing on the edge of a long downward slide- should he continue to fight. i love roy, but i think he should go ahead and retire and just savor the life he's made for himself.

Roy should hang them up.
He's not the fighter he once was, he has his money and his health, and he doesn't need to struggle to compete with guys he would have torn apart years ago.
maybe...i think roy has a shot against glen johnson personally..tarver is just to active for a slower older jones at this point
true i think tarver has his number at this point and thats it .he can still come back and beat alot of good fighters. :)
