It's not a question of the fighter electing to do what is and isn't legal.
It's about doing what you can get away with.
The ref's job is to enforce the fight, and if he makes a bad call, it's not the other fighter's fault for doing what he can get away with in the fight.
This is all a moot point in regards to the fight last night, because all of this alleged "Rabbit punching" some of you are cyring about was the result of Wlad turning his head away from Peter's punches.
That's 100% his own fault.
Bitch, stop acting stupid, it's either illegal or it ain't.
Stop flip-flopping it's not ok to cheat and then it is ok, depending on who YOU want to win, right?
Peter looked right at the back of Wlad's head before he threw the shots, that's an intentional foul. What Wlad was doing was tying his man up to minimize the chances of getting caught, countless fighters have done it. There's fucking reason why it's illegal to hit a fighter on the back of the head, and ANY fighter that intentionally loads up on the back of someone's head should be penalized, period. That fucking ref should be shot in both knees for being that fucking stupid.
Everybody hits behind the head. Peter's knockdowns were clean so why does it matter? Mayorga won a fight against Forrest on points by hitting behind the head. There's nothing wrong with it apparently so stop complaining.
Bitch fuck you, you're just mad because that piece of shit couldn't retire Wlad like you wanted lol
So you're saying it's illegal... what the fuck is your point? Guess what, every fight has plenty of illegal actions. Deal with it. Wlad was knocked down due to being tired and Peter's shots being heavy enough to more or less push him to the ground. Whether or not it is intentional is a huge factor. If you throw a large looping punch, and the person steps forward and you clock him in the back of the head is entirely different then somebody turning around with their back to you and clocking them with a straight right hand.
Guess what, speeding is illegal too. But going 10 over and going 40 over are entirely different.
Those rabbit punches were very intentional, they were the actions of a very desparate and frustrated fighter. Peter has always been a dirty fighter from the beginning, he will cheat in order to intimidate his opponents if he is allowed to. I've seen him hit fighters when they were down, it's the same thing. Another thing, that ref is fucking senile, he shouldn't be allowed to ref anymore. I saw a fight he was reffing where one guy caught the other guy and had him up against the ropes. The other guy had lost all control of his head and it flopped around through 3 or four hard shots, but he was still up, with his hands by his sides. The winner had to grab him and hold him there. The ref was so fucking blind he still separated them before he even noticed how hurt the guy was.
I watched the video and yes, Wlad was defending himself by slipping under the arm of Peter in the first case, but the punches on the back of the head (the first two KDs) were still illegal!
Also the punches that caused the first two KD's were not looping. They looked like very purposeful punches on the back of the head.
Peter did a lot of rabbit-punching on Sykes and Diaz, tons of it.
One day he will get punished for that badly.
Always crying.
Nothing but tear after tear...

just about all of Peter's punches were either looping punches or hooks.. he didn't throw many straight punches.
If you throw a looping punch that close, where else is it going to hit, but somewhere dangerous like the back of the head or the ear?
obviously, he was just trying to win, and rightfully so, but in a place that produced a fighter recently killed from boxing, you would think they would step up safety in the ring instead of the lack of officiating allowing around a dozen punches to the back of the head.

not all the times was wlad turning away... some of the times they were just tied and peter was still trying to hit him.. but since they were tied all he could hit was the back of wlads head...
so it's not illegal to punch when you're in a clinch?
it's just illegal to disobey the ref?

You've added more to your statement. If your opponent holds you, you may continue to punch until the ref says break. If the ref doesn't say break, punch away. Since Peter was never doing the holding, he could flail away at Wlad all day long.
Excuse me? Did I just read that? Have you ever watched boxing before?
I think so.. it's the sport with the guys wearing gloves in a square shaped ring, divided into 12 equal length rounds?
what about my statements is untrue?
when a boxer hits during a clinch, the ref will say, stop punching and break them apart. If the boxer continues to punch, disobeying the ref, then they can be penalized and eventally disqualified, right?
and what all of you seem to forget here is that the bare fact that Peter was punching when a clinch was in progress was illegal and what he was warned about. The ref was rubbish, plain and simple.
Excuse me? Did I just read that? Have you ever watched boxing before?
WEjajaja nice Avatar PNo.
thank you sir :)
Kinda like the other fella here that had the dances boxers first :)
Seems like Danny Williams knows capeiora :P
i don't think brewster hits as hard as peter. he's not quite a softy either. but, after fighting that bulldog in peter, wlad should be able to deal with brewster. brewster might have better punching technique, but i'd say his chin may not be as good as peter's. and, i never did think wlad unleashed his full power either. i think it was his strategy to outbox peter from the beginning and not shoot for a KO.
hopefully, wlad will get back to his old comfortable self in the ring.
He could have had a KO if he followed with a few more punches after Peter had danced when hit with the left cross in round 12.
Incidentally, in the break before round 12, Vitaliy told Wlad to power-punch with his left. This was a really useful suggestion.
