The work rate of Calazaghe would give him the lead for the early rounds. Against Plant, Canelo was struggling every time plant actually threw punches. Plant is a known gasser, and he thus faded away in the later rounds enabling canelo to stop him. Canelo will come back and take rounds 8,9,10, but Calazghe doesn’t get tired and will adjust. Calazghe by an entertaining but comfortable decision.
He doesn’t deserve a rematch. Bivol won EVERY SINGLE ROUND in this fight. The only way a rematch can happen is if they fight in Moscow at 175 again. This 168 rematch shit that Canelo is trying to do is a bunch of nonsense. Canelos PFP, Bivols not. It’s Canelos job to fight Champs at their weight classes like all the other greats did.
He’d be competitive with most guys but he wouldn’t be able to cope against guys like Lennox, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe etc. Even a guy like Tua would be a nightmare for him
Lol Tua is probably the worst stylistic matchup for him on that list, him and tyson
The fact that they had the audacity to compare social media hypejobs Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, and Tank Davis to the Fab 4 from the 80s is beyond me. These guys will never be on the fab 4s level. Just a bunch of social media talkalots, nothing else
lol all you are going for is to paint a picture of some of Floyd's and Pac's opponents are the same, not to mention if you compare how they fought those same opponents. Pac was the one who can use the word Schooled more than Floyd can ever do. Not to mention Floyd fighting a Light weight Marquez at welterweight. Talk about catchweights lmao
Stop it, bud.. You are a Floyd fan boy. You are the epitome of what this vet from the hood is talking about.. Stop worshipping a man who fights to survive.. and at present is retired, and now have fought an 0-1 fighter.. That's not old school.. but if you like that kind of stuff.. it's fine.. but learn to see the difference. It's clear who's resume' is shining the brightest. Pac is still adding more shine to his welterweight career. Floyd who plays the safe game had to stop. Only those who are brave and bold who wants to challenge themselves to reach the summit of greatness will understand the old school way.
If you can't watch the video in this thread. Watch this instead, so you can see why Pac is an old school fighter. Floyd isn't. Playing it safe, taking the scenic route isn't the old school way.

Lol this is the height of Pacquaio fan boy-ness Mayweather has fought much harder competition since 1998 then Manny Pacquiao. Talk about catchweights? Your idol literally fought De La Hoya, Margarito, and Cotto at a catchweight. The same lightweight Marquez sent your boy to the Gulag at welterweight (I hope spence does more this time).
Stop it bud... You are a P@C fanboy. After having beaten twenty three world champions, including your idol, he continues to live in your mind rent free. If you really want to talk about someone who challenges themselves, Floyd moved up to lightweight and immediiately fought (and beat) Castillo twice, who was a champion. His first fight at Jr. WW was against Legend in de la hoya. You can continue to act like Pacquiao never fought fighters coming off of losses or draws (Matthyse, Broner, Vargas, Mosley) or poor performances when they had surgery (Thurman) or Floyd leftovers (DLH, Hatton, Mosley) or catchweights (Cotto, Margarito).
Manny Pacquiao is “old school” but became a champion one year later than Floyd did and a pfp star 4 years after . Not to mention Manny loterally building his Welterweight resume off of Floyd leftovers and weight draining others.
Mikey Garcia obviously. It would be a nice, competitive fight. Neither of them are overmatched, although I would favor Pacquiao. Anyone saying Spence/Crawford just wants Pac to get KTFO in his final fight.
You're not wrong.
Lol. “Casuals.” Causals think the limit of a class is the only way to compete in it. Pacquiao fought Margarito with a limit of 150. PAC could’ve done anything below that since he has literally weighed 147 on the scales at times. Marquez has weighed as low as 143 against PAC at the 147 limit against PAC. Guess who weighed 147 in that fight?! PAC!!
only dumbass casuals that pretend to know the system are dummies like you.
you even contradict your argument! “LMAO”
Mayweather could’ve fought Cotto or Canelo for their Middleweight titles at 155 and Floyd wouldn’t need to make 155.... derp derp derp
go get that GED son!
You want Floyd to drain Canelo and Cotto? Then you haters will accuse him of weight draining.
It’s ironic; Shane, SRL, Hearns, Duran, like many past, all fought series fights/rematches/trilogies with their arch rivals/nemesis MOVING UP IN WEIGHTS, yet Floyd didn’t want to claim the Lineal or Middleweight titles with Cotto or Canelo. Lol. Be it Shane vs DLH in rematches 7lbs apart, or others mentioned etc... even PAC, Barrera, Morales, Marquez... they all fought again with each other moving up in weight to entice how the performances would vary. This is why I always say GGG at 168 would be better or interesting..
but then you’ve got guys like Larry always saying, “but why does Floyd have to move up!? Duran never moved up in weight higher than Floyd!!” Lol
floyd ditched 144 w/ Marquez
didn’t give Canelo or Cotto rematches for the Middleweight title.
Mayweather has NEVER even made the 154lb weight limit, yet you expect him to go to middleweight LMAO. You casuals are too easy.
He did fight some of them, but not when they were in their primes.
No matter what the fanboys say, this will always cast shadow on his legacy.
And I assume mayweather was in his prime for all of those people?
If 147 and up was “always a handicap” then him choosing 146 from 144 with Marquez was a sham... and it was. So Duran was able to fight up to Super Middleweight even though some of his legendary performances even started below 147... you make it sound like Middlewight is exclusively at 160 when Floyd made 152 with Canelo. Both Cotto and Canelo did 155, Floyd did 154... so Floyd would be handicapped 1lb north for Middleweight?
You see. Mayweather, unlike Duran, trained year round and kept his weight low. That was simply how he fought. These middleweights walk around at 180-200lbs, Mayweather walked around at 150, he had to eat before his weigh ins for his 154lb fights.
The person who would beat Floyd Mayweather is the type of fighter Mayweather avoided his entire career.
A taller version of him.
Examples: Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins.
Did you just say that Floyd ducked Bernard Hopkins? What has happened on this forum since I left for a week.
You see. When Loma chose to duck Devin Haney and literally give him his belt, he worked with the WBC to create his own. You can dispute Teofimo. You can’t dispute Taylor who was cleaned out his division.
My god are you in love with Floyd or something. I know Floyd humiliated your idol 5 years ago, but dang. Go post about your overrated idol instead. Mayweather is a HOF.
Castillo and De lay Hoya beat him. Margarito punked his ass on camera.
Canelo would kill him at 160 or 168.
What's there to be mad about?
I won’t spend time replying to every troll as this is non stop boxing and not boxing history, but this has got to be some of the biggest load of codswallop I have read. Castillo didn’t beat him, the first fight was close and that was a injured floyd, and a healthy floyd dominated the rematch. If you think Oscar won you really need your eyes checked. for starters, Floyd threw less AND landed at nearly twice the rate of oscar:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2438355-remembering-de-la-hoya-vs-mayweather-the-fight-that-made-floyd-a-superstar.amp.html
The more I think about Canelo, of course he would want to fight a older, smaller floyd at 168-160 who never weighed more than 155 in his professional career. Typical canelo choosing green, nervous dudes who have never been under the spotlight or dudes loterally coming from prison (Kirkland).
Fraud's a coward if he doesn't fight Canelo again. Canelo has said in public that he wants the rematch. What's Fraud waiting on?
Man Floyd could be 100 years and Clenelo the fraud Alvarez who fights dudes fresh out of prison and his fans WOULD STILL request a rematch.
Lol Boots been beating up on slow ass d level boxers. Ryan's speed and power would be something Boots would have to deal with for the 1st time
LOL instagram glass jaw will fold as soon as he feels boots power
You're stupid if you think Haney entered the ring as a junior lightweight (that's 130lb btw). Haney entered the ring for his last fight at 165. Ryan entered the ring for his last fight at 160. It's entirely possible Haney still outweighed Ryan, despite Garcia missing weight.
He could probably win a vacant title and defend it against the usual trash mandatories. Not sure if he'll care to though.
This has nothing to do with what losing actual water weight and rehydrating does to you, though. I meant jr welterweight not jr lightwright.
u mean a guy who just dropped and battered a p4p top 5 guy will never win a world belt?
“pfp top 5” We all knew haney was overhyped trash whose been meat ridden by the sports media.
Secondly, he was a welterweight fighting a junior lightweight. Why do u think he didn’t win that title?
Lastly. Even a pillow fist in haney managed to have ryan garcia hurt. So yeah, he will never win a world belt legit. Paper champion at best.
I was not expecting this to be one sided as tank vs garcia was. A year ago, i knew that ryan had zero chance against tank, that he would get knocked out and dominated. I thought haney would outpoint him, but we all knew haney had no power and his legs leave him as soon they get clipped. I would not be surprised if ryan got a stoppage vicyory or won via knockdowns, and that’s what happened. Ryan was also significantly larger than haney, and haney still managed to rock ryan, which speaks volume of ryan’s china chin.
So in the end, i’m not surprised what happened at all, I am simply a ryan garvia hater and want him to fail at the elite level everytime. He still failed here as devin is the champ at 140, not 143. Ryan will never be a world championship, this fight has effectively spelled his downfall. He can’t make 140 as he admitted, and 147 is filled with elite level talent like boots, ortiz, etc who’d stop him.
He might win a paper belt but that’s about it. He will never be a champion in his life.
