Correct me if I’m wrong as I can’t keep up.
I see people say Teofimo isn’t undisputed because he’s Franchise WBC Champion and Haney is WBC Champion, even though Teofimo beat the WBC Champion In Lomachenko to win that belt.
Taylor has all the belts at 140, but Barrios is the WBA Champion aswell. Isn’t that the same thing?
WBC Franchise and WBA Super are basically the same thing right? Just means if you hold that belt then you don’t need to defend against mandatories.
Surely logic has to prevail at some point here and the guy who holds all the belts is undisputed, which is the case with both Teofimo and Taylor.
Since there making a JOKE of the original system. I no longer give much credence to the belts no more.
santa cruz fought a guy who was just ko'd twice for a belt at 130. it was such a farce and this was all to setup a fight with tank davis so he could get smashed. they are thinking many steps ahead now to setup stupid fights and they want the blocker of saying its not a bad fight hes a world champ!
we all know barrios is the real undisputed champ at 140 and we all know thats exactly why tank chose to fight him. he said give me the biggest challenge in boxing and his advisors said no no we cant let you do that tank, and tank said DO IT DAMN IT!
Sure, I guess. But the real issue isn't the logic. It's that there are so many belts that this type of deduction is necessary to determine who is the champion
You see. When Loma chose to duck Devin Haney and literally give him his belt, he worked with the WBC to create his own. You can dispute Teofimo. You can’t dispute Taylor who was cleaned out his division.
So because the others don’t recognise them, that means what?
It means it doesn’t matter to them. Like they already have a better that IS recognised. They don’t recognise TWO belts for undisputed. One organisation doesn’t tell the other 3 what to do.
It’s really not that complicated.

Just wait there a moment while my head explodes :lol1:
I was watching boxing when there was still only one belt, what great days they were.
Hello iron Dan.... I come from the paaaaaaaast. yes its truuuueeeee in those days a champion in boxing was determined by one man winning a match with anootheeeer. This was before Alphabet soup was invented.
At this point the 3 belt era feels like the good old days. :lol1:
This is why I f***ing hate the ABC’s, they just keep diluting the product.
Same mate, always have.
Makes literally no sense to have more than 1 champion at a weight class.
I suppose it depends on your view of the WBC franchise title. I see it as similar to the emeritus title rather than a super world title like the WBA super belt. I thought it was meant to be non-transferable too but obviously they made an exception for the Loma-Lopez fight.
The fact it’s open for interpretation just makes it all that more confusing.
Lets just look at it logically.
To me, it’s the equivalent to Regis Prograis hypothetically being WBA Champion, getting “elevated” to Super, Taylor beating him, then all of a sudden Barrios gets a different WBA belt and now all of sudden people saying Taylor isn’t undisputed because of Barrios.
That makes no sense, the same way Lopez not being undisputed to me makes no sense.
Lomachenko was WBC Champion, he was elavated to something else, Lopez beat him. That to me is cut and dry.
I can’t see any logical way that that doesn’t make Lopez WBC Champion.
He beat the guy was was WBC Champion and only wasn’t technically because he was “elevated”. Elevated means higher than he was previously.

Surely it’s a very clear 1 and 2 situation there though since Lomachenko was “elavated” to Franchise to which Haney then filled his spot.
To me, that’s a clear 1 and 2 situation just like WBA.
To be honest, there’s barely much difference between WBA Super and WBC franchise, they are basically the same thing.
Hence why I find Lopez and Taylor’s situation very similar.
I didn’t even know there was another WBA champion at 140 until I watched All Access and I thought; “How is that any different to the whole Lopez-Haney mess at 135?”

The biggest difference for me is the WBC title situation is like 1A, 1B whereas the WBA title situation is a clear 1, 2 with the Super title being the obvious superior title. Barrios has no claim to being the legitimate WBA champion whilst Haney does have a claim to being the legitimate WBC champion.
Only in boxing you get this type of bullsh**. :lol1:

The franchise champ is still the WBC champ though. It’s stated on the “rules” and Lopez has showed the ‘regular’ and franchise belts he got from Sulaiman. You can view it as the WBC having two champs, except Lopez is the WBC champ with all the other belts. The franchise belt at this point is simply a belt the WBC pulls out of their ass when a WBC mandatory is blocking a bigger fight. But it all started with them wanting to keep Canelo as WBC champ when Charlo was about to get him stripped like Derevyanchenko eventually did(Haymon ploys).
Canelo was looking for undisputed at 160 so Sulaiman hooked him up with a franchise belt which allowed him to be a WBC champ after the agreement with Charlo fell through. Then comes the story of the failed deal with Derevyanchenko which ends up putting the belt back into Golovkins hand who Canelo wanted nothing to do with.
Lomachenko was given Franchise to bypass his mandatory obligations for the bigger fight; A fight for undisputed vs the champ Teofimo Lopez.
Teofimo Lopez franchise can now be won or something.
Estrada was due to have his mandatory vs Rungvisai next but was granted the Franchise belt to be able to rematch Chocolatito for the third fight.

Haney is the legit WBC champion, Barrios holds the regular belt which is the non-legitimate version. It’s pretty cut and dry IMO.
I agree Haney didn’t beat anybody when he was literally gifted that title via email but he’s still the legitimate WBC belt-holder.
I’m a huge Teofimo fan and he’s clearly the undisputed #1 at 135 but there’s definitely an asterisk over his claim of being undisputed champion whilst Taylor, on the other hand, has completely cleared out the division and holds the legitimate version of all four titles.
This is exactly right.

Isn’t the WBA regular considered a world title or am I mistaken? I was under the impression it was.
Haney’s not the legit WBC Champion, I’ll never agree to that. Same way I didn’t when Marquez was “elevated” to Champion. It’s an illogical concept in my eyes.
Barrios claim at 140 is probably more legitimate than Haney’s at 135 in all honesty.
But it’s a fact though man… I’m not saying it’s logical or even makes sense but that’s boxing for you. :lol1:
I don’t necessarily disagree with your logic but whether we like it or not Teofimo has yet to completely unify the division whilst Taylor undoubtedly has.
The franchise title is basically a token IronDan. It cannot be defended or won in the ring, it's awarded if you had the WBC title before. There's no mandatories due if you're a franchise champion either. The WBC made it to give certain fighters a pass at bypassing fights so that fighter can do whatever he wants whilst under the thin guise of being a WBC titlist. But being a WBC titlist does devalue your credibility if a franchise champion exists in the class for example
Charlo is the WBC champion, Canelo was given the franchise title. Canelo is clearly the greater fighter
Same case with Lopez and Haney.
Same case is apparently due with Estrada and Rungvisai. Estrada will become the franchise champion so the trilogy with Gonzalez can happen and they'll look to place Rungvisai as the WBC champion
As for Barrios, the WBA is an absolute mess. They consider the WBA World Champion and WBA Super champion as both champions but Super is usually given a higher status than World. So for them it goes Super, World, Regular.

The “Franchise” Champion is just a stupid idea especially when they make the rules up as they go along.
