How about getting beaten up by better boxer?
He was taking too many shots in the temples and above the ears. His balance became bad after the 3rd round knock downs. He mind and body couldn't take anymore punishment after the 3rd and 4th knockdowns.
Wilder showed a good chin and recovery ability. His defense when he was wobbled was also good. He smothered a lot of Ortiz's onslaught in round 7. Ortiz spent himself in round 7 trying to finish Wilder and couldn't fully recover. While Wilder was fully recovered by then end of round 8.
The fact that Wilder was able to still pitch a one hitter quitter in round 10 makes him an extremely dangerous heavyweight. Ortiz was no slouch in that ring and had Wilder in a world of trouble. Not many heavyweight would have made it out of that 7th round against him.
Wilder needs to stop swinging for the fences every time he throws a power shot. He needs to be more active with a variety of punches. He needs to vary the speed and power of his punches more. Also should not get carried away when he thinks the opponent is stunned- more patience. He might have been able to finish Fury last night had he not gassed out and walked into some counters.
That's when you know who's smart in this forum and not just a fan. Shoulder roll doesn't work with southpaws. Hectari needs to educate himself in the art of boxing.
Plus, Broner's shoulder roll sucks. He always got hit a lot by any A-B+ level boxers he faced.
Bute fought like he was afraid to get hurt and Pascal fought like he was afraid to gas out. The whole fight sucked until the 12th when Pascal was gassed and Bute finally went for it.
Broner needs to move back down in weight. Not enough power and size at welter with his style of fighting. The real elite welterweights would beat him. Paulie's decent but not enough pop.

They must not be keen on putting AB in with another big puncher right now.
They coulda had the other Molina, John Jr- but he was probably deemed too dangerous right now for AB- active, big, rangy guy with very good power and coming off of wins. Lucas got this Molina instead. And AB got the smaller, light punching Molina- it will be like Gavin Reese 2.0. :bottle:
To his credit, AB did try to go out on his shield in rounds 11 and 12th. But by doing so he took some more flush shots to the head that stiffened his legs, but he probably edged out those rounds.
I think he's asking for a rematch based his success in the last 2 rounds. He fails to realize that he would have been hit more with harder shots had he been aggressive early in the fight and might have gotten KO'd.
I feel slightly bad for him. He did deserve the beatdown in the ring with his dumbass gameplan and weak corner advice -"let your hands go"- was all they had. Broner did not have enough sense to know you can't just walk everyone down behind his weak shoulder roll.
Hopefully once his jaws heal, he 'll make some changes and get a new trainer. He could still do something at 140 maybe iif he works on some techniques.
The throwing of ***** at boxers is common among passionate fans . They do it against boxers they don't favor - doesn't matter who u r- remember when Hagler won his mw belt in the UK? He had to be escorted out for safety. I think u just get it worse when you're nasty!
According to CompuBox statistics, Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) landed 269 of 964 punches (28 percent), including 101 body shots, while Broner connected on 149 of 400 punches (37 percent).
Madaina 's defense has improved slightly , but it looked better due to Broner being too gunshy to throw. broner was too busy recovering and resetting to throw enough punches. Seems he not very effective when he cant lead and the opponent can hurt him back and upset his rhytm.
