Tyson Fury has been touted as a possible Klitschko opponent for about a year now, and was even offered the fight previously.
Will you give Haye credit if he KO's Fury? Or will you say Fury was a hypejob?
lol nobody is claiming him to be a top 10 of all times.
Was Chisora not a top 10? Helenius was ranked in the top 10 and he beat him, quite substantially I may add. I had that fight 8-4 or 9-3 Chisora. Then he took a dominating champ in Vitali 12 rounds and gave a very good account of himself - but when Haye KOs him he had suddenly become a journeyman? That's the point I'm getting at here.
A lot of people gave Chisora a big chance to beat Haye when they fought, yet Haye KOd him and then he doesn't get any credit from the same people. I understand if people like to hate on him a little bit from the Wlad fight, but credit should be given where it's due.
So I ask you this: Is Fury a legit top 10 heavy? A lot of people said after the cunningham fight that he'd be a good opponent for Wlad. So if he's good enough to fight the champ he should be good enough to fight a contender? or what?
Fury is 6'8, undefeated and has beaten a good couple of fighters. But don't beat around the bush with excuses about his resume as a whole. It's not relevant for this fight.
Will you give Haye credit if he beats Fury?
I think Haye is a good fighter and he promotes himself well. BUT, I wish he fought more often. I would like to see top contenders to fight 3-4 times a year and champions at least 2-3 year. After he made a name for himself at heavy Haye hasn't been active enough. (IMHO)
There's the Klitshkos. There's Haye. And ... how can a guy who hasn't fought anybody, like Pulev, be at #2? Sh*t.
I don't see Fury as a legit TOP 10 heavy. But the division sucks real bad so he is. Fury absolutely has *NOT* done enough to deserve a title fight with WK. Except he did convincingly beat Cunningham while Adamek had problems in his victory over Cunningham.
Haye should be able to step in, time Fury, and be able to out-box him. Fury will try to use his weight, lean on Haye, push him, pull him, hold him and hit him (as he did with Cunningham).
Haye's talented. He won (and unified the cruiserweight division) and won a heavyweight belt. My one issue with David Haye (except for the fact that he doesn't fight often enough) is that he hasn't found a way to deal with taller fighters. Holyfield was hitting Bowe and Lewis all night long. Now I'm not saying Haye should trade with Klitschko the way Holyfield did with Bowe and Lewis. It didn't make sense for Holyfield and doesn't make sense for Haye.
I'm going back and forth here but the simple truth is that Fury is not a good boxer. How can beating a mediocre boxer raise Haye's standing?
PS. By the way I didn't bring in the "not All-Time TOP 10" on your account - but for other readers who might join in later.
Credit in what way? That Haye is a legitimate TOP 10 heavyweight (that's of today not All-Time in case there is any confusion). Yes. But does it mean that he is the best heavyweight not named Klitschko? Don't know. If he's so good why hasn't he cleared out the division?
Where are his fights against other TOP 10s? He fought Chisora over a year ago. WK a year before that. Just went to BoxRec. He's had 6 fights in 5 years.
He's a talented fighter. But is he all that? He hasn't shown it.
How much credit will I give him for beating Fury? Not much. 3 years ago Fury uppercuts himself. He was a joke - but he's gotten much better. Actually I was a impressed in his improvement shown in his win over Cunningham.
I think Haye should win this fight. He's far more talented, far faster, much more accurate with his punches, has some pop in his gloves. Haye should win.
But what should I give Haye credit for? He hasn't done enough.

BUM - to the P.
I want to get as many people on record stating whether or not they will give credit to Haye?

I suggest you re-watch the fight (if you can't find ANYTHING better to do). Wladimir was looking to engage most of the night, but Haye kept ducking and diving, throwing little back.
It was an absolute stinker; but Wladimir was DEFINITELY the aggressor.
wlad was obviously the agressor. not sure how anyone can debate that altho he should have pushed it even more
Come on pal, how can you say that he was on the front foot purely from that gif??? He makes contact with Haye once and after a flurry of misses, he's leaning all over Haye.
Klit won that fight but I can't count 10 truly clean punches that badly unsettled Haye. He neither knocked down or knocked out Haye, a former cruiserweight.

What the? He was the aggressor and, whether you want to believe it or not, was landing frequently. Haye felt Wladimir's power , and from that point capitulated. He gave Wladimir the second half of the fight.
Haye's 'performance' was inexcusable, really. He promised to attack and take the centre of the ring. He promised to trade. He promised a brutal early stoppage. He promised to 'save' the HW division. He and Booth said they had a 'master plan' that would neutralize Wladimir's jab. It was all a lie.
Hopefully he'll deliver in future.
wlads jab and size ruined that plan. haye just couldnt get around it
Jedi, you're a great poster, and you're almost always right with your comments on Vitali, but ^ is bullsh*t. That gif shows that Wladimir was the aggressor. He was on the front foot the entire night.

I cannot believe you post that gif and say Klit was the aggressor.
Haye is doing what any decent boxer would do and evade Klit's flurry with his athleticism. What else is he supposed to do, stick his chin out and take it?? It's hilarious that at the end of that gif, Klit grabs him out of frustration. Something he did for the majority of the fight.

more interesting is that if Fury beats Haye he will become a legit contender, hes not really done enough yet.
Haye is already a legit solid contender of course and should be treated as that.
As regards scam artists, we are in the era of scam artists, with the tag teaming circus K bros defending against midgets, fatboys and oldies. No shame in being a drop in the ocean. Haye was just as bad as them when he was champion (Valuev when he won it, Fraudley defence but at least he faced Klit to his credit and at least Haye was a genuine champion at CW).
We missed this guy.. What Ks did to you this time?
I don't rate Fury one bit. If he wasn't huge and strong he would not be a boxer
I think anybody in the top 8 in the world but beat him and most would stop him

In rounds, he was winning the fight obviously. The way the fight was going though would have made for an interesting last few rounds if the referee hadn't stopped it prematurely. It had a Cotto-Margarito I feel about it. Again, you're in denial if you think Haye was in total control of that fight.
I have never said Haye was in "total control" of the fight. He was certainly gassing a bit at the end of the 3rd and 4th, but I don't think I gave Chisora a round to be honest.
And also, Haye landed a right hand on Chisora in the 4th that make him walk backwards for the first time in the fight. That gave Haye the confidence that he could finish him off in the 5th. He wasn't lucky.
:pat: And he was losing the fight too, right?

He did run from Chisora but Chisora was always right in front of him so he was forced to actually fight. Wladimir didn't give him a target so therefore he should have changed his tactics to try to win. But he didn't. He was content to keep running and lose a decision.
:pat: And he was losing the fight too, right?
No. In fact everyone else is agreeing that running is not the right word. So it actually seems like you are the one in denial.
Haye threw around 300 punches throughout the fight, so I guess that makes your argument pointless. Or are we now debating how many punches should be thrown for a backwards fighting boxer, before it's not "running"?
I guess Haye ran from Chisora too, right?
