First it was he wasn't fighting no one, then he went and fought Martinez like everyone wanted and the kid losses but finishes strong. I think it's fine he fights a cathweight fight since he lost his title and needs a comeback fight after a suspension. He should also see how he feels at a higher weight.
but but but there last name wasnt chavez and but but but they werent mexican so it okay....
It's a come back/stay busy fight after a suspension nothing wrong with a catch weight fight unless it's for a title. I mean others have fought for titles at catch weights and are treated like royalty.
Everyone just hates JR, haters will keep on hating and JR will keep on making money.
Well everyone here seems to agree with me except you, which means you are the roy jones jr of this thread.
:boxing:
No, I think he should stay.
He had a bad night with the Bradley fight but generally brings some energy and decent analysis to the commentary.
I was just kidding Weeb I am sure many others like him and they have valid points. Hopefully Jones can stop seeing things like a fan and start to see things from a pro boxer's point of view.
See below.
I agree. I used to like Kellerman but he's become part of the "product" in the most cringeworthy way possible.
I think he had a small segment of what fighters should and should not do to win the fight just like teddy atlas usually did in whatever broadcast he was on. Jones jr is a likable and nice guy but he can't compare to tarver or malignaggi.
He seems to have moved away from talking technical boxing points, which he is great at, and moved towards being a normal announcer. All boxing broadcast teams should have an experienced pro to point out the more technical details that a lot of us would miss but he isnt being used right imo
That's great stuff but when he is wrong he just keeps going and going. Just like in the bradley fight he did terrible.
Yeah thats all good but i mean like during the fight. I remember during the Khan Maidana fight he was seeing things the other guys were missing (Maidana looping right over Khans jab, which eventually caught him big) and explaining to the others how to defend from uppercuts and stuff. I want more of that!
Kellerman does good interviews I like him and I like teddy also but that is just me. I like malignaggi and tarver from showtime. That is just my opinion.
I rather listen to Big george than jones jr.
He is good, but I think I saw a cold sore in Ishida's mouth which might indicate he wasn't as strong as he should have been.
GGG is a humble likable guy, but I think Martinez and Chavez jr. beat him simply because both of these fighters will be able to take his punch and punch him back. Has GGG's chin been tested round after round like martinez's and jr's? We shall wait and see.
I have no idea on how the fight rigo vs. nonito will play out. When rigo is motivated he can do beautiful things, but he has his flaws like every boxer. The bad thing is that his specific flaws play into nonito's best strengths.
If rigo becomes passive against an aggressive nonito he will get Ko'd.
I have seen rigo hurt with a left hook that wasn't as hard as one that nonito can deliver. If nonito lands on rigo with his devastating left hook will it be game over???
He takes no supplements? I am not too familiar with Hopkins life style but I listened to De lahoya say one time that Hopkins takes his nutrition very serious.
I agree that is true we need to wait and see.
I like Andre Ward but B-Hop being able to execute his boxing IQ almost into his 50s is nothing short of amazing. We have yet to see how far Ward will take it, but I'm not discrediting him
That cut was nothing to a veteran like el chino
I don't think anyone believes he can be world-level.
But it would be great to see him swinging with Carson Jones.
British referees need more common sense. Cosme was not in any real danger in there and he wasn't gonna get stopped.
