pr had a good year overall. but taking over in 2007 is pushing it a bit. the return of zab, mosley coming down, clottey will definately be trying to get back on the winning side, paul williams finally getting his shot, and if you say he is untested so are quintana and cintron. oh yea they got completely destroyed when they stepped up the comp. williams wont be bullied. plus who knows what pbf will be doing. can i even through vivian harris in the mix? not looking good for pr.
i was never impressed with this guy from the start. if clottey wouldnt have hurt his hand he would have won no doubt. i jus dont understand why people rate him so high, who has he beat anyway?
because he's mexican to an extent. clottey is rated too low. i always thought he was. a few months ago people laughed at the fact of clottey beating marg. but i did and still do think clottey is the better fighter.
well how about when marg asked for an exception to fight clottey just so he wouldn't fight williams? and williams was even his mandatory back then. marg is clearly ducking williams. i also thought he wanted to unify. now he's giving up his title. marg is the biggest joke in boxing.
what? no mayweather?? the guy they say is the best lightweight of all time. not to say the guy they say is the most gifted boxer of the last 40 years. jermaine taylor to. i know its a little early but trust me he will be.
How is it ducking?
I don't get it...
He's going for a bigger challenge, a way bigger challenge...so someone explain to me how that is ducking? He's not taking the easy way, he's taking the harder and more challenging way.
Cotto >>> Williams.... at least so far...
Williams only made a name for himself by calling out Margarito and saying that he beat up Margarito in a sparring session...
Williams hasn't done shit...
Cotto just knocked out a game Carlos Quintana who is better than Williams...
quintana is not better than williams no way. plus margarito already sparred with him before and he gave marg trouble. sparring isnt a real fight but i'm sure marg is thinking twice about fighting williams after that. and cotto hasnt had bad opponents at all but no top 5 type guys. and cotto has been hurt plenty of times williams never. and williams is the bigger longer guy and in my opinion is the tougher fight for marg definately not the smartest so i would rather fight cotto if i were him.
I wouldn't want to see a Mayweather rematch. Im sure Mayweather wouldn't want it either. Judah Vs Quintana would be good. Both coming back from losses.. You never know.
judah would beat quintana if he brung his a-game
i think clottey would give cotto hell. and with williams reach i gotta give it to him. i think cotto would beat judah though. but you never know what judah will show up.
i also see it coming down to a cotto/williams showdown. i knew williams was good but after i seen how good he was defensively on pbf undercard i just know he's something special. being that long with those dodging skills thats crazy.
Indeed, they are bigger, slower, less active, money grabbing, roided up, jab un clinch style fighters with personalities as deep as a coffee mug.
yes i agree they are less active and money grabbing. i dont know about less personality i just think boxing is less talked about and they get less exposure now. but i'm talking about skill level. people talk about sugar ray robinson like hes god. for example the pbf baldomir fight. it really pissed me off. then they said their will never be anyone like him ever. its like no matter how good you are you'll never be considered that great just because. another guy is caesar chavez in my opinion i think oscar is clearly better but will never get that respect.
Boxing isn't dead, it just needs to get it's shit together, maybe the UFC and Pride fighting stealing some of it's audience, will show the boxing world it needs to combines today "show" with the old school, toughness and fight parity.. MMA is and will continue to be boxings little brother. The UFC is exciting, btu it lacks substance. One can only watch two half naked men wrestle for 15to 30 minutes for so long. I like to watch people get beat up, but I'm not much a fan of seeing muthafuckas get choked and get they sh*t broke, I don't see much sport in that, but that is the major appeal of the sport, it looks like something anyone on the street can do, which if you have any sense, you know you can't. But in my opinion, you can take the baddest muthafucka in each weight class in teh UFC and have them lace up the gloves against a mid level contender and they will get laid out... UFC isn't a sport, it's legalized fighting...
well butterbean is an mma fighter now and he sucks. ima boxing and mma fan. i train muay thai and believe me a boxer will definately not have a walk in the park against a muay thai boxer in a stand up match.
