the welterweight division is cleaning itself up thanks to Top Rank and Bob Arum. It looks like up next, WBA Champ Cotto will defend against his mandatory Otkay Urkal hopefully in the early Spring; meanwhile, WBO Champ Margarito is going to defend against Paul Williams, also hopefully in the spring. The winners (I'm assuming Cotto wins his fight) should meet up on Cotto's annual fight date in June before the Puerto Rican Parade. I tend to think Welterweight comes down to Cotto vs. Williams. I guess the winner can whoop Cintron's ass lol.
Of course, Mosley, if fighting at 147 could spoil ALL their plans. I say have Mosley fight Cintron in the spring to add to the rest of those fights. That way Mosley could face the best of that bunch. If this plays out, I could see Mosley taking over 147. Either way, we should get some good fights in the next half year and perhaps unification.
Dan Rafael actually wrote in his recent column that Quintana had a secret deal with Mosley for March 07 if he were to win. He was going to vacate the belt and do that fight instead.
i also see it coming down to a cotto/williams showdown. i knew williams was good but after i seen how good he was defensively on pbf undercard i just know he's something special. being that long with those dodging skills thats crazy.
At this stage of his career, Mosley would have trouble with Cotto. I'm not saying he couldn't beat him; but he'd sure earn some lumps along the way if he did. Cotto looked damn good the other night.
Whew. If Mosely beats Cotto at THIS stage, he'd earn more than a few lumps. He'd earn a huge amount more acclaim for doing that.
I don't know about Mosely messing with Cotto. He can handle anybody but Miguel.

I agree. Clottey looked pretty good, and Margarito looked even worse than I thought he was. It was almost laughable to watch Margarito try to pose as an elite fighter the first half of that fight. He just threw his shots insanely wide and got mad that Clottey wouldn't stand and trade more. Typical Mexican "warrior" if you ask me.
