Cotto has 25 fights, in his first 25 fights Mayweather's only credible opponent was Diego Corrales. Cotto in his first 25 fights has already fought guys like Sosa and Corley and KO'ed them, something Mayweather couldn't do in his 30th and 32nd fight where he already had much more ring experience than Cotto who defeated them in his 19th and 23rd fight.
Mayweather had an 11 fight experience advantage in comparison to when Cotto fought Sosa and a 9 fight experience advantage when he fought Corley. Lets not even talk about Cotto being 3 years younger, hence he fought them at a younger age and looked more impressive aginst them.

Why is that every single white fighter whether from the United States or Europe no matter how good is always down played. And other fights even racist ones who associate themselves with figueres such as Malcom X are depicted as heroes.
If you watch boxing from the standpoint of a non-racist its clear that there is a bias towards blacks in boxing. Everybody remembers Floyd Patterson but Ingmarr Johansson (as an example) who was World Heavyweight Champion and defeated Floyd Patterson is hardly remembered by anybody.
Another point is every single white fighter who is a legitimate contender and happens to be white is always adressed as "white hype or hope." A title which downgrades there actual ability and accomplishments.
well since we are asking questions of biased then lets see.......Why is it when a Black boxer is sure of himself shows confidence people always mark him off as arrogant or cocky or just having a bad attitude when it comes to the sport of "boxing" but when a white fighter says the same thing it it said that he is just showing "heart" or his love for the "sport"
lets see Floyd Maywearther jr. i see it time and time again announcers and people who do interviews with Floyd always talks good to his face but as soon as he leaves they say " he really has a bad attitude and arrogant one" they never can just say he is a skillful boxer but they have to bring up his attitude

i don't think its a bitch move but i want to see Toney fight Peter,Brewster,Rahman it would of been in that order if peter beat Wlad but now its Rahman,Brewster and i want to see Byrd fight Valuev and have him and Toney meet up at the end thats how i want it to go

I talk to alot of trainers white and black and all the white trainers i talk to seem to always mention that Floyd Mayweather has alot of skills and is masterful but they always mention his attitude and personality right after giving him props in every sport i've watched or taken part in people hate a cocky confident outspoken black male
You cannot deny the skill level of James Toney i'm with DiegoFuego on this one if he loses i'm not gonna say he was not in his prime cause right now Toney to me is back at the top of his game like he was when he tore apart Iran Barkley........but everybody Toney has fought he has made them look bad and lackluster its not like these guys are actually giving him any problems or winning any rounds against him bottom line James Toney can beat anybody in your top 10 today
