Bernard Hopkins's defense is amazing. He keeps his chin low at all time and his right hand up at all times. Sometimes he will drop the left to get more power on his jabs or try to make the other guy attack. I will be honestly shocked if we see Hopkins ever get knocked out before he retires. I love his boxing style and young boxers should watch what he does in the ring.
Props to B-HOP
the only reason you think hes awesome is cos
everyone else sux these days
back in the day
hopkins would have been 'allright'
nothing special ...You are officially THE worst nuthugger of the old days I've ever seen.
I appreciate knowledgable people who favor the old days, but you're just some teenage noob who does it with no good arguments or objectivity. You never even have anything to back up what you say other than "nuh uh yo, lool, yo deez new guys iz like garbage lol".
B-Hop's defense is great, I don't think you'll ever see blood on his face let alone a KO...
he has great footwork, great timing on his opponents' punches for him to duck or slip, he uses his opponent's offense as his defense (makes u think twice of hitting him due to being open for a counter or something dirty), and has a solid chin to go with it... he's a dangerous mofo in that ring, 'The Executioner' fits him so well...... I'd be scared if I was Calzaghe, win or lose Joe won't ever be the same again...fighting Hopkins is like fighting a porcupine lol...
nah.. hopkins is a smart fighter.. i think hes boring but a primne hopkins was like an animal who hunts down his prey and goes for the kill.. he used to break them down with punches form all angles. amazing.. some good fights ive personally seen..
glen johnson - clinic man.. perfectly executed match
echols 2 - dirty fight. broke the man down..
just sick..
as compared to the bullshit he does now u kno.. clinch clinch, head butt lol..
but that right hand is the best in the business.. he lands it while not even looking at his opponent(looks at the floor) ala tarver..
Bernard Hopkins should get more respect after his performance on saturday, to say alot of people thought Bernard was going to win the odds sure changed at the betting shops. Oscar can move back down and fight on if he wishes, he has proven he is a true warrior by fighting Bernard. Alot of other fighters wouldn't take that risk. That loss has not damaged his record at all in my opinion. I suppose he is like Roy in that aspect because that KO loss on his record has not damaged his capabilties as a fighter or his repututation. I hope Roy knocks Tarver out in their third fight. :D
me too man, me too tarver is a good fighter but no great and will never be known as the pound for pound best he desires
yip two legends undoutedly, its bitter sweet in a way, i wanted Nard to win cos I dont belive he has had the recognition he deserves and this was a defining fight for him. Also the way he has as his ring entrance said "did it my way"
I have total respect for the man, I dont belive he has ducked opponents as many say he just refused to be manipulated by the money men. We need more like that.
Oscar has had many and no, you are quite right he is a hall of famer gaurenteed, though I do think that he was pushing it a bit to go up to middle.
If he drops back down perhaps a match against tito? Who knows.
either way he wont be remembered for this loss, he will be remembered as a boxer who took pon the best whenever he could.
no disgrace in that.

hi guys, (sorry wez you must have dissapointed with sat but oscar did what he can and was giving away too many physical attirubtes mate, if he has the desire he can come again as a light middle or welter if he can still make it. )
As for fightintg jones I dont think the problem is BHop not wanting too but more that RJJ is fighting at 2 weight division above Hopkins.
I cant see him making super middle, and with Hopkins not being a big middle I cant see him going to light heavy. Im sure that BHop would love to take on jones now, especially after his recent defeat BUT I just cant see a mutually agreeable weight to contest at.
Anyway Im not sure Glengoffe wont put an end to all that anyway, he is vastly underated and Jones will need to find his old spark, Johnsosn is a tough as old boots!
Hello JPW, i was very upset to see Oscar get stopped like that. I knew Bernard had the physical attributes to stop him but i didn't expect it at all. To see him yelping in pain devastated me, that was such a murderous end to his record of never been stopped in the ring. I'm glad he got stopped by an exceptional fighter like Bernard though. Oscar has fought some great fighters over the years and non of those could halt him. His efforts in the ring really impressed me, i loved every second of that fight. I never expected Oscar to come forward and control the pace of the fight, that shocked me. Bernards patience was concerning in the first few rounds, you knew he was holding back trying to out box. Bernard was successful in outboxing Oscar but he was more successful in my opinion when he came on strong and mauled abit later on in the fight. I have every bit of faith that Oscar will return to the ring, nobody will ever forget what he tried to achieve on saturday. What he did he did for boxing. He hasn't been the champion of 6 weight divisions for nothing, he is a great. :D

and sorry nchtflicht or whatever your name is Im afraid that was a very good tactical fight, I agree it wasnt the most exciting foight in the world for those who want a sliugfest but as battle it was fascinating, well I thought so anyway!
I am sure he is good boxer. But, I think truly great boxers will always redeem their losses someway, either by beating the same figher who beat them, or beating another fighter that is considered greater. If great boxers do not redeem their losses, they are not really great. I heard Hopkins lost to Roy Jones. If he is so great, why doesn't he try to redeem himself against Roy Jones? There is still time left for this fight to take place. But, I think Hopkins doesn't like to take many risks. Maybe this is why he never gets beaten.
I agree compltetely, Bernard has got the a very good defense. I like the way he pops his right hand out like a jab too, he seems to throw so many of his opponents off guard because they expect the left hand jab coming. To watch him outbox Oscar was mind blowing, i was glad he gave us an exhibition of his skills because alot of people were under the impression that he was just a brawler after the William Joppy fight. Bernard is a great fighter in every aspect of boxing, the great dedication he puts into his training is unbelievable.
YIP I would go along with that, he showed his versatility also by boxing off th e back foot for the opening two rounds, at one point the commentators said "he has come with a plan a, plan b and a plan c." Awesome cagey and very clever.
Blokes a legend. Osacar should go back down to light middle / welter they are his best chancces of further glory, Hopkins I think will fight tito then Sturm. Cant see a catchweight being agreed for tarvewr or jones in honesty.
