solid in every category except that he is skinny and has a questionable chin. oh, and that he lost to carlos muassa
LOL!!!
Well, I agree that Harris is not the ideal opponent for Hatton's US debut. I actually would not have chosen Harris if I was managing Hatton. Harris is seen as damaged goods right now by fans and the media, and I think the reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated, as they saying goes. Harris is a solid fighter who has beautiful punches and combos, and basically fought a horrible fight against Maussa.
Harris was on the big stage finally, and with a chip on his shoulder, went out to destroy Maussa- a guy that is made of rubber with a good chin- not easy to destroy. Harris ignored his corner, and just kept pumping out hard right hands like a madman, totally wearing himself out. Harris thought he knew better than his corner, a mistake many boxers make and live to regret. And Harris wasn't only fighting Maussa in the ring that night, he was fighting the media, fans, the networks, Hatton (bc of the earlier fight that fell through) and all the other guys who were supposedly "ducking him." He just overfought and had a huge chip on his shoulder. He is a very good fighter and if he can get his head together, he can still be a force at 140.
Remember most of you who currently hate on Hatton are the same guys who hated on Kostya (no explanation needed) and ALL OF YOU picked Harris to take over the division. Remember the discussions after Kostya-Mitchell2? "Oh Harris is going to kill Kostya- look how much bigger he is than him." ...because of Harris squeezing into Kostya's post-fight interview, most not realizing that he was in a suit and wearing dress shoes with small heels. And of course, there was also the old Hatton haters from before he beat Kostya, who claimed he ducked Harris, even though it was Harris who turned down the fight and more money than he had every made before in a fight.
Bottom line- if I were managing Hatton, I would have done everything possible to get Baldomir. Maybe they did and Baldomir just didn't want it and priced himself out like they said. But Harris is a dangerous choice of an opponent, and of course most nudhead fans only remember you by your last fight, but I really hope Hatton doesn't make that mistake and prepares for Harris as he would have on their original date, because Harris is still dangerous. And if he learned his lesson and can fight within himself and listen to his corner, then could be a very interesting fight. Harris throws really sharp, fast, straight punches, and Hatton cuts easily. I think Hatton should in the end be too strong for Harris, but losing a TKO from cuts is a very real possibility if Hatton doesn't come in 100% and respect Harris.
PS- PBF34, have to correct your sig. The quote from Tyson is so classic that it needs to be quoted correctly. Probably the best post-fight boasting I've ever heard: "Lennox is a conqueoror? No, I'm Alexander. He's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!"
Man its a lot of dumbass people on this board. Keep underrating Harris. THIS ISNT AN EASY FIGHT morons. This is the second most talented fighter, hell maybe first Hatton is facing in his career. A 5'10 guy solid in every category

When Hatton easily dispatches of Harris my friend, you will eat crow.
I'm probably in the minority that believes that this would be a great/tough fight for either fighter even though Harris lost to Maussa. Harris is a tough fighter with one punch KO power,a stiff jab, & great footwork. Hatton would have his hands full if they fought. Hatton's win over Maussa was ok but let's not kid ourselves. Maussa doesn't have half of the skill/talent that Harris has & how much did Harris loss have to do with Maussa's talent or Harris not listening to his corner & trying to set up a KO instead of swinging for the fences with every punch.

If he's looking for exposure, then Harris is the WRONG opponent. Harris has no fan base. Gatti would be the better fight in that regard.
Gatti moved up to 147.
I don't know, last night I was upset about the choice but he does need some exposure here in the states before he takes on Mayweather if they want it to be a succesful PPV.

If this is no tune-up then he might as well fight Floyd for that matter. This proves my point all along. Hatton is taking the path of least resistance.

I agree that Vivian Harris is NO tune-up. It will be a decent fight and we can get a better standing on the type of fighter Ricky Hatton really is.

It's probably not going to be on PPV. THis fight is an investment to introduce Hatton to the USA. But a certain guy named Moussa already introduced America to Harris, so, you know
Who can he fight all other top fighters are fighting each other, injured or dont want the fight
Mayweather - Fighting Judah
Judah - Fighting Mayweather
Castillo - Got big fight with Corrales in June
Corrales - Injured himself training for Castillo but fight scheduled for June
Freitas - Fighting Raheem
Cotto - Fighting on Saturday
Gatti - Injured Hand
Baldomir - Doesnt want the fight according to dennis hobson
floyd offered hatton a fight which he turned down. if hatton offered, any one of those guys would get out of their fight and fight hatton.

This is Hattons first fight in the U.S..
I'm sure you know that the casual fan doesn't know much about the Hitman. So maybe to you and me, but when it comes to dollars and cents, is it wise for Hatton/Mayweather to happen right away?
Honestly.
If Ricky is as good as he's supposed to be, he'll beat Vivian Harris and then step up a bit more in comp and win that fight as well. That puts him on the map for the showdown with Floyd Mayweather.
Ricky didn't fight Vivian directly after his loss to Maussa. He took care of business, got the belt from Carlos then is fighting Vicious Vivian.
I don't care how much you degrade him, fighters have bad nights. Should the same thing happen again, well he's not cracked up to what he was supposed to be. But I think he'll be more prepared this time around. I'm not saying he's going to win, but this isn't a cake-walk for Ricky.
if this fight happens, then no one should hate on floyd for figting zab, the better and more dangerous fighter than harris. thats what im trying to say.
HELL FUCKING YEAH.............the return on my guy Vivian Harris its about fucking time and you guys will see the greatness from him i will bet all my points on this victory...........you want a war now you got one
I like harris in this no desrepect to Hatton but I'm rooting for harris and the man has skills. He just wasn't listening to manny in that fight and got caught, might be like kostya when he got caught by Vince Phillips but learned from his mistake and came back a stronger fighter.
Harris
Vivian will be a dangerous foe for Hatton, I beleive.
Harris is murder with that right, and has very good overall technique.
I like Hatton to grind him down with blows to the side and midsection after being jolted several times, and get Harris out of there by TKO in a rough battle.
