other then the lucky meldrick taylor stoppage in the last round with 12 seconds to go when chavez was losing..who did chavez ever beat to be considered great? does 100 plus win record fighting bums fool the public?
http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Media/jc_chavez_big.jpg
taylor wasnt bigger then corrales..and if corrales landed some bombs..could get rid of taylor..and castillo could possibly do the same thing to taylor that chavez did..
taylor was bigger than corrales.
Castillo has never been down, even Chico almost killed him in the first fight, the guy was still stnading. Also I said it was a little better.
Taylor like to mix it up & if he did that with Chico. I see an early KO win by Chico. I can't see Taylor handling Chico's power, yea I know Chico can get knockdown, but I don't see Taylor knocking Chico out, maybe a knockdown.
Fo the last time Taylor did not fight like his buddy Whiataker. 2 different styles.
corrales, like most fighters, might not carry their power in their 3rd weight class. (a few examples: roy jones, tommy hearns, roberto duran, erik morales)
considering corrales inexistent defense and taylor blazing handspeed, he would be taking a lot of puninshment from the opening bell and he would have little time to ko the faster, bigger, slicker meldrick taylor with ONE, TWO big punches... to stop with a couple of punches the guy who stood up to chavez for 12 rounds and two minutes.
and no taylor did not fight like whitaker, that's why whitaker beat chavez and taylor didn't.
1) how do you think castillo has a better chin than chavez? that begin said I would think castillo-taylor would have been a great fight, the outcome being a closer fight on the scorecards that taylor-chavez should have been, but with far less damage on taylor
2) taylor had a damn good chin, otherwise he would have been down long before in the chavez fight.
If you have seen him fight before and after chavez-taylor1 you know that anything after that is not relevant to judge anything about taylor except for his heart.
3) taylor handspeed plus him being the naturally bigger man, would have sealed corrales fate

You can't really say that. I mean if Chico ever landed a big bomb on Taylor, he might of knocked Taylor out. Also Medrick taylor didn't have too much power. As for Castillo, I don't see Taylor even hurting Castillo. I personally think Castillo is the bigger & stronger version of Chavez with a little better chin. He sparred with Chavez & fights very similar to Chavez, but I consider Castillo be the better boxer. Castillo is a great counter puncher & he can be very tricky in some fights.

If prime Chavez ever fought Castillo, Chavez would have killed Castillo.
If it wasn't for the great sparring Castillo got sparring with Chavez no way does Castillo develope to the fighter he is now without being Chavez sparring partner.
Let me put a end to this thread! Chavez was a great fighter & no one saying he was not a great fighter. I'm not gonna say that Chavez wasn't great. But he did lose many of his big fights. Also he was beaten by guys like Laporte, Randell & Lockridge which I don't consider great fighters. It's a fact that he was awarded many gift, I think we can all admit that.
Damn his little son got a gift just last week, like father & son :D
I got the Laporte fight and no way did Chavez lose that fight. And never in a blue moon did he lose to Lockridge who didn't even look to hit Chavez hard by fear of angering Chavez. Randell got a faded Chavez, who still gave him hell in their first fight.
So much hate towards a great fighter who beat many fan favorite fighters.
taylor could not brawl with corrales or castillo like he use to like to do...camacho was not unbeatable and i think he would lose to corrales and castillo...also CORLEY is underrated
I think taylor would have murdered corrales, I don't know about castillo, cos castillo is not as skilled as jc. but as we have seen castillo gave a hard time to floyd, so it would be close and a great fight imo.
corley?
bwahahahaha

randall i agree, but laporte and lockridge I would have to watch the fights again.
and if you consider his fighs against oscar his big fights, that's like jones big fights were against tarver, hopkins' against taylor and so on, sugar ray robinson at middle in the middle-late 50s, duran fighting at 154, 160, oscar at 154,160 and so on... like the others fighters I mentioned he was not in his prime by that time and/or not at his best weight.
of course he was obviously schooled by pea, but who wasn't?
and I also think he should have had his first loss against taylor, who he destroyed anyway and would have beaten any night after that one.
castillo and corrales are better then everybody chavez beat...or fought for that matter other then tszyu de la hoya whitaker..in which he lost!
Chavez would have ko'd both Castillo and Corrales. Remeber Castillo was a sparring partner or Chavez and that what has allowed him to get the experiance needed to become the fighter he is today.
Which fighter did Chavez crush that you hold hate for the guy?
im not a chavez hater..im tired of assholes keep saying hes better then de la hoya...de la hoya beat chavez ..chavez was only 33 years old..chavez was never relied on speed so its not like he had deterated so much..starting around 1994 is when chavez started fighting better opposition..mayweather and de la hoya beat better guys
Chavez didnt fight top guys till 1994?,lololol. That alone shows how dumb you are. How you say Chavez never relied on speed is why he wasent deterated is fucken bullshit. Mostly every fight Chavez was in was a fucken war, if that doesnt take anything out of you then I dont know what does. The fact is, Chavez was never beaten at his own game. It took Whitaker to jab, counter and get the fuck out of there to beat the great Chavez.
Ring wear >>>>>>> age when it comes to a fighters shape. That has always been true and it will always be true.
Meldrick Taylor would have completely destroyed Diego Corrales and he would have soundly beaten Jose Luis Castillo, possibly knocking him out late in the fight. He was a complete class ahead of both of those fighters...which is not to knock them because they are very good fighters in their own rights. Taylor was special.
Taylor would have been the king of the 140 pound division had he not run into Chavez.
Dino is just a Chavez hater all he shows by hating him is that hes got no boxing knowledge

meldrick taylo, hector camacho would beat chico and castillo

We are not hating dude. That's different from presenting arguments. Hating is when you call a person a chicken and yet you don't present arguments to back it up.
I don't hate Chavez but the fact is, he got his bloated record fighting bums. And we all know what we call a fighter who fights bums on a constant basis. A bum himself.
When it was high time to deliver against elites, he got beat. The rationale is really simple if you take a look at it. An elite beats other elites in convincing fashion. Not lose to them.
Might as well call Joe Louis bum, for fighting bums. Whats that trem they called his opponets "Bum of the month."
Every since Chavez win over Taylor people hate Chavez. And take a look at the Whitiker v. Chavez fight and count how many times Whitker hits Chavez low, over 20 times, yet Chavez didnt retaliate but once if any.
Chavez is an all-time great like it or not. He fought opponets that he didn't have to fight, but did so, so he can stay sharp. Unlike, the current fighters of today. Last I seen Mayweather fight, he looked like he is slipping or could be caused by not fighting enough.
You see fighters today are more lazier and more richers and see it as a huge risk to fight an unknown fighter who is hunger. Not Chavez, he wanted to stay sharp and fought unname fighters, but who were hungry to win and make a name for themselfs.
If you don't respect Chavez or what he's done in boxing, how can you respect any other fighter, with out desperately trying to point out some negative shit about him.
i said he was overrated, becuase he didnt beat any all time greats. that was my argument
The reason many like yourself dont see the top guys that Chavez beat as all times greats is because Chavez beat them black and blue. Chavez knocked the fuck out of so many guys that were strong up and comers and couldnt go on any more once Chavez beat the crap out of all of them. Chavez beat every single top guy out there in his prime......nuff said.
Laporte beat him, and everyone knows below Lightweight are weak divsions.
