The Lance Armstrong story makes me think of pacquiao more than Marquez(I'm not accusing pacman). There are big differences in that lance was finding a way to pass mandatory tests where as pacman has not tested. The only similarities I see are that they have both been accused and both chose to sue over those accusations. I just saw conte on CNN saying how Shane Mosley and Marion Jones both tried to sue him over his allegations, which turned out to be true. Lance Armstrong did the same thing in suing his accusers. Pacman has done the same. Pacman's story is more similar to Ben Johnson, the Canadian track star. He was always fast but never had enough to finish races strong enough to beat Carl Lewis and the top guys. Then out of nowhere, he is finishing strong as ever and blowing these guys out. Carl and and the other track stars saw the obvious and knew he was juicing. He tested positive and his supplier came out on him which forced him to admit. When u see a guy all of a sudden turn into a beast in any sport, it raises red flags. That being said I can understand why there may be concerns about Marquez. But if noone cares about PAC refusing tests, they should not care if Marquez has used.
Great reply, I agree with all your points. I do believe that JMM is an amazing fighter however choosing to add a known PED supplier to you training camp raises some serious suspicions.
I don't think there's a single elite fighter that isn't on any sort of PED.
I respect your opinion however I disagree. I believe that are plenty of elite fighters that play by the rules. Its sad but boxing is going through a similar situation baseball faced during the steroid era.
Test him, JMM isn't afraid of needles.. Am more suspicious of the one that claimed needles makes him weak and how the commission should do their jobs.
Lance armstong beat the test. However I do agree that pac's may have also used PED's prior to becoming super religious
Mikey must hit like a mule because I was really surprised by the way salido was reacting to his punches. It almost seemed like salido was going down on purpose.
It just means he has bigger guts/balls than the majority of prospect boxers. Most people are scared to take risks while they're being groomed. That's one thing I have to give to some PR prospects lately, they're willing to go to the lions den unlike other prospects from other places...including some from Mexico.
AMEN!!! Exactly what I was thinking!!

Saying it aint safe to think Chino won fair and square due to Ariza shakes
Honestly with Bam Bam failing his drug test, who knows what can happen.
I dont see how people can call this a close fight. Martinez is a proven champion that has been force to fight at the middleweightt level because superwelter weight titleholders are afraid to face him. Alvarez has does nothing to show that he can contend with a legitimate superwelter weight. I do believe he is a skillful fighter, however beating fighters that fight well above their natural weight class does not display an accurate display of punching power.
first of all, i want to say that erik morales is one of my favorite fighters ever. Yes, you can be from puerto rico and include a mexican in your all time favorite list. Anyway, i did not know much about danny garcía until he fought erik the first time. I was torn apart because on one hand i had one of my favorite fighters ever and on the other there was a new guy of pr heritage, in his prime, and a possible future star. I watched the fight with a "damned if i do, damned if i don't" mentality. García won and a possible star was born.
Anyway, for this fight, i thought garcía would win but not without having to do his job against a morales who never takes it lightly. One more time, i was in a similar situation but now i knew garcía and knew what he was capable of. I knew his confidence would be sky high after the khan win. Well, garcía won in dominant fashion.
I guess the morales fan in me resurfaced because i was genuinely nostalgic after seeing erik fall like that. Only pacquiao was able to stop morales and i would dare say that this was more emphatic than erik's losses to pacquiao. Being close to my 30th birthday, i saw morales as one of the last warriors still standing, one of those that made this great sport even better for me years ago. All i can say is congratulations to garcía because he has a future, but thanks to morales. You really left your mark in the sport and i will always admire you. I wish you good luck in your life.
respect!!!
Well if pac's contract with Top Rank expires in 2013, what would be his incentive of resigning with Bob when he can go and promote himself. Think about it, he just signed a promotional joint venture with 50 cent. Bob knows he isn't getting any of that pac money and pac's going to be cool with taking 45% for himself which is more than he'll ever make with bob
If Arum was cashing out on Manny, he would have fed him to Floyd by now!
I honestly think the Arum might of missed his opportunity on a mega fight with mayweather. From the reports I've read, pac's contract is up in 2013 so I don't see a reason for needing Arum to make this fight.
You are comparing fighters from different eras and the sport has evolved so much since then.
Benitez probably would've not won a world championship at the age of 17 in this era. Look at the guys right now who are 17-18 years old and there is no way they can compete with a real world championship.
Look at Morales who won his belt at age 21.
You got to be kidding right?
No, Marquez was going to hit pacquiao....the trip multiplied the power shot...why so angry? You still haven't learned the game? Both fighters are PED users....get over it.
Preach brother!!
If he didn't miss weight for Floyds catch weight he's not missing weight for this fight. JESUS!!!!
I don't know man, he didn't sound to eager about facing GGG. Its a strategy that will allow him to avoid defending the belt should he win.
I am sure he is on track to make weight but it would be pretty funny to see. Its not like Cotto is going to walk away from his biggest payday because of it. I doubt the weight penalty is all that high that Canelo or GBP wouldn't pay it.
Completely agree!
As long as he comes in under 160 he is still eligible to win the title. The CW is an agreement between the camps and not the organization.
Cotto being stripped of his title has no impact on Canelo, the same stipulations apply if he were to come in over 155 as they would have before yesterday's incidents. That's assuming there was an agree upping penalty for missing weight. According to his team he is currently down to 157 so that should even be an issue.
Good to know, thanks for clarifying
