I go with Nacho he has trained great fighters from scratch, has been in the game longer, has probably trained more hall of famers from scratch than any modern trainer Roach has the accolades but Nacho has a far deeper boy of work

I have to say boxing fans are some of the most loyal, yet fickle people in the world fighters who aren't great but are exciting like Arturo Gatti, Rocky Graziano, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini are in the Hall and their are guys that are not in there yet that truly deserved it more sure they gave us chills, spills, and thrills but honestly I don't like good losers....I like winners fighters Like Pernell Whitaker(late 80s-mid 90s), Floyd Mayweather(2004-present, and Roy Jones(mid 90s-2004) were the best fighters of their era but were not nearly as beloved as fighters they beat and showed superiority over.... Jones was clearly the best of his time but fighters like Oscar De La Hoya and Trinidad are/were more beloved Julio Cesar Chavez is highly respected but Sweet Pea was the best of their time and really gets no fanfare and Mayweather has defeated more world class opposition than anyone active today but he definitely doesn't get as much respect as inferior fighters Id rather be an all time great.....screw being beloved, you can maximize your money by being the best, not taking beatings for the fans....they not gonna raise my son for me when I have pugilistic dementia

I suffered a mild rotator cuff strain in November of 2014 I went through PT, got an MRI, X-rays and the whole 9 it did not require surgery but it took me a full month before I could lift a 5-10 pound bag of groceries over my head and you mean to tell me with surgery and rehab, Manny will be recovered in 2 months. that means it will take Manny only 3-4 months to recover from a severe tear? Its been over 6 months and I still have good days and bad days, especially depending on the weather and how I sleep the night before....I have to stay active for it not to bother me at all excuse me Pac FANS if I think its far fetched that a man can go 8 extra rounds after aggravating a bad injury and still throw punches with the same "affected" arm Look at Pernell Whitaker's reaction when he hurt his shoulder against Carlos Bojorquez Look at Mayweather between rounds against Castillo in fight one or fights where other fighters injured their shoulders Manny has never spoke of an injury to his shoulder until the aftermath of the fight Have some humility...Sergio Martinez was basically a man with no legs and didn't make excuses.....Pac Man and Fans, yall need to face reality....anybody can throw on a sling and say they had surgury

Manny Pacquaio is one of the greatest fighters of our era but their is beginning to be a change in the guard of the welterweight division Welterweight is such a stacked division and filled with so many hungry fighters, I doubt Manny's body can take the punishment it will take to get into shape to beat those guys, even though he still possesses the know how and some of his explosiveness....he just isn't willing to take the shots necessary to defeat fighters who could possibly outbox him. Manny made his bones at welterweight years ago against DLH in 08, Cotto and Clottey back in 2009-2010....but there has been a huge drop off in his level of opposition since 5 years ago.....in the past 5 years Manny has only defeated 2 top ten welterweights.....a 40 year old shane mosley who hadn't won a fight in 3 years and Tim Bradley who is good but hasn't done a lot at weltweight himself. Getting kayoed in 2012, and fighting 2 no hopers in Rios and Algieri padded his record but neither were ranked weltweights......Bradley was at the time after beating Marquez, but what has Marquez done besides kayo Manny at 147? After the loss to Mayweather, Manny is 3-3 in his last 6 fights.....he is still ranked highly but I don't think he deserves to be any higher than maybe 4 or 5 Manny is a great fighter, but add the fact that he is 36, and has a 6-12 months out because of his "injury", I think his days as an elite welterweight are over

Bradley was the man at 140 and I wish he stayed there instead of chasing the money at 147 and working with Bob Arum. We wont see him in their with any of the true top ten elite guys, unless is Pacquaio and JMM may as well retire. He is over 40 and injured. With that being said, where will Bradley go? Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Mayweather, and Keith Thurman would most likely beat him...the other guys would be competitive as well. His resume at WW consists of a gift win over Pacquaio, a clear loss to him, beating JMM who is a great fighter but never was an elite welterweight himself, and wins over unranked Provodnikov, Luis Abregu, and a draw with Diego Chaves who has beat no one of note. Next he will be facing another unranked welterweight Jessie Vargas. Vargas is ranked at 140 but has done absolutely nothing at 147. Timmy I like you as a fighter, you have a lot of heart but you were never an elite welterweight in my book.....beating guys in their 5th and 7th weight class past prime doesn't make you one of the best when their are ranked young guns around

He gets a bad rap for being a frontrunner but he was one of the most talented fighters of his generation. If he had the mental dexterity or make up of some one like Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacqiuao he would have been one of the greats He didn't live up to his potential in many peoples eyes but he didn't become an undisputed welterweight champion, in an era of splintered belts. Also won the IBF title early in his career and also when he past prime and 33 years old Contrary to popular believe, he did not lose all of his significant fights and had some very good wins Wins over champions/titlsts: Kaizer Mabuza, Junior Witter, Demarcus Corely, Cory Spinks, Rafael Pineda, Terron Millet Contenders/gatekeepers: Reggie Green, Micky Ward, Darryl Tyson, and Lucas Matthyssee Judah is one of my favorite fighters from the time when I really became enamored with the sport around 1996-1997 and I watched him not make the Olympics and go one to be a world champion. It was great to see Brooklyn stand up!!!!

Manny Pacquaio is one of my favorite active fighters but his general fan base lose sight on a lot of things. He was marketed great, he fought a lot of guys above 135 when they had their worst chance to compete or defeat him If you know anything about boxing, its not always the name and who you beat that makes it a significant win, but when you beat them in their respective careers @ 135 fought David Diaz, the worst titleholder of that time when Casamayor, Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, and Juan Manuel Marquez were there @ 140 Hatton had a shaky showing with Lazcano, a gimmie with Malignaggi who was picked because he got knocked out before and Paulie has no power, and Mayweather beat Hatton when he was undefeated full of confidence and before he had all that psycologoical and physical damage. @ 147 Mosley hadn't won a fight in years and hadn't looked impressive since he kayoed Margarito....he lost to Mayweather, drew with Sergio Mora, then Roach lets him fight him Cotto was coming off the worst beating of his life at the hands of Margo and a shaky showing with Clottey....he did not look impressive Algieri.....this fight was a joke....a titleholder from a lower weight with a sub 30% ko ratio Rios.....a blown up lightweight who did nothing before or after at welterweight...another showcase fight JMM...got robbed in fight 3 and kayoed him to make things right Bradley....was his only fight with a legit welterweight who in consistent and wasn't coming off a beating....well provodnikov took a lot out of him but he did rebound with a JuanMa win ODLH.....he looked so bad pre fight, during, and after that anyone in the top ten could've kicked a 145 pound ODLH....dude looked horrible, cheekbones purtruding, weight drained...his own fault but he didn't look good either against Forbes, or Mayweather prior...he did against Mayorga but that was at 154 and 2 years prior I love Manny....he is great but he benefitted from his promoter putting him in with guys after they were not the same and it should be acknowledged

Algieri is a decent fighter....club fighter, C class guy...you know with good skills, makes for good Friday night fights and PBC type fights but he isn't a top ten contender at welterweight. Algeri defeated Emmanuel Taylor, upset the overrated Provodnikov, didn't belong in the ring with Manny Pacquaio to begin with....he did absolutely nothing at welterweight to deserve a title shot. Now since he has been on PPV, cable, and regular tv, he is a somewhat recognizeable name to the somewhat knowledgeable, casual fans.....He has good skills, has a lot of heart, but has no power power at all on the elite level I hope they don't use him up before he reaches his potential....He has some good tools to make a name a junior welterweight

All these Pac fans accusing other fighters of juicing but don't acknowledge that..... 1) Roach said random blood and urine testing killed the first round of negotiations 2) Manny Pacquaio was scared of needles, but he has tattoos......funny considering he did blood testing before and after 2009-2010 when negotiations started 3) Ariza was Manny's strength and conditioning coach and Freddie Roach didn't even know what his own fighter was ingesting

I don't always agree with what he says, but unlike a lot of the posters on this site, he can support his position with intelligence, some proof, and insight

All the base-less trash talk....the million and one threads per week about his opinion. All the accolades he gets out of pity.....dude shouldn't have got trainer of the year half the time he got them. I cant think of one fighter he developed from scratch in the ams, let alone early on in their pro career....IMO as a trainer he is a bit overrated and other great trainers get overlooked because he has Pacquaio who is so beloved and such a great ambassador to the sport. He is a great trainer but he is no better than Nacho Beristein, Virgil Hunter, or Robert Garcia. JUST STFU ALL READY AND PREPARE MANNY FOR THE FIGHT BECAUSE HE AND SR CANT FIGHT FOR FLOYD OR MANNY

I've followed Mayweather's career since it started after the '96 Olympics. He doesn't get much credit for being a tough guy and a fighter with a lot of heart. Mayweather has been in many situations where he had to dig deep, but because he was so dominant, casual fans often forget 1)Against Jesus Chavez he was facing a smaller faster, busier, yet less powerful version of Marcos Maidana....IMO the fight was close at the time of the stoppage and Mayweather had to tee off and stand his ground to get the W 2) Mosley clocked him 2 good times in the 2nd round of their fight and commenced to beating him from pillar to post from that point on 3) Jose Luis Castillo gave him the toughest fight of his career and he overcame a serious shoulder injury and hand injury to pull it out 4)Hatton was pressing the fight until, Mayweather adjusted and started to batter him. 5)He stood his ground against Maidana made him miss enough in the pocket and landed enough shots in the first fight to keep it close then boxed Maidana's ears off to close the fight 6)Corely buzzed him and he was very close to becoming the first fighter to stop the teak tough Corely in his prime....looooong before corely became a gatekeeper

During this time Gatti had re-established his place as a world class competitor, and Hatton was making a name for himself on the way up.....Gatti lost to money in 05 and Hatton defeated Kostya Tszyu for the title at 140. Both were top ten contenders for several years at 140 and the weight was stacked with talent. I'd favor the swarming Hatton over Gatti....I believe Hatton was slightly stronger, was faster of foot and hand....Gatti had the edge in experience and Hatton had youth on his side. Gatti had a slight edge in power. Gatti wouldn't be able to hold Hatton off if he couldn't hold off a fringe contender Like Mickey Ward....Though tough, he wasn't as talented as Hatton I pick Hatton by late stoppage.....cuts, accumulation, and those murderous body shots would eventually slow Gatti down after a treat in the first 6-8 rounds. The naturally bigger Hatton will begin to Maul him. Kostya Tsyzu was one of the hardest hitters in divisions history and he backed him up and outfought him. He'd have a slightly easier time with Gatti, who does not have the skills or consistency of the Hall of famer TSZYU

Both fighters held major world titles in a very deep weight class, 122, where PauliE Ayala was the Ring Champion Although Paulie was the man, I favored Manny, Larios, and Vazquez over him if they ever met Vazquez may not be an all-time great in most eyes, but IMO he had an all-time great heart, grit, enough skills, and power to give any great fighter between 118-126 hell....imo he is a top ten all time great junior featherweight Vazquez is best known for his 4- fight series with Rafael Marquez who he went 2-2 against, he went 2-1 vs very good Oscar Larios, and also has wins over current featherweight titlist JHonny Gonzalez, and former titlists Jorge Elicier Julio, Jose Luis Valbuena, etc Id favor Pacquaio slightly, seeing that he was the more physically gifted of the two with athleticism, IMO Vazquez would be physically stronger but he cut a lot and could be hurt. I'd say Pacquaio stops him late on cuts after giving us one of the greatest fights in junior featherweight history

This is a serious question. Just got through watching the Algieri and Bradley fights and they don't have the defense and ring IQ of Mayweather and they survived his onslaught, Bradley actually was competitive in both fights.....How will he ko the bets defensive fighter of this generation and he has had a kayo since stopping Cotto in 09

Im so tired of fans, experts, etc taking the easy route predicting fights. I know people have their favorites and don't want to root against them, but when I predict fights, I leave personal preference at the door and look at fights as if im betting money or my house. Its annoys me when people say things like....Oh this guy will give Manny problems, or this guy will give Floyd problems or this guy will give Ward problems. the real deal is if you will make a solid prediction and say the certain fighter will win with conviction I was wrong about Guerrero over Thurman and Thurman illustrated what I doubted about him. Having the smarts to give different looks and transition from offense and defense. He did well Of all the big fights or possible fights Id take Mayweather over Pacquaio, Garcia over Peterson, Khan over Brook, Ward over GGG, Kovalev over Stevenson, Kovalev over Pascal, Crawford over Anyone at 140 when he gets acclimated to the weight etc. I stand by all those predictions, can explain them thoroughly, and I am not emotionally invested. I look at them logically

Matthyssee vs broner would make for a great PBC fight and the winner gets a title shot at 140. Broner showed some maturity not getting overly excited even though when he let his hands go he landed at a high clip Broner isn't a great fighter yet but if he improves his discipline, the sky is the limit Broner vs the Machine is a true pick em...winner should face the winner of Peterson vs Garcia

2014 was a good year, a lot better than his 2012 and 2013 campaign but he keeps racking up the accolades Why in the world has Roger Mayweather never won this award when at one time he trained the best p4p female and male fighter at the same time. His nephew, and Laila Ali Robert Garcia is top notch Virgil Hunter helped revive Amir Khans Career and IMO may deserve comeback of the year Nacho Beristein idk if he ever won one I don't think Big Floyd ever won one either Boxing has so many great trainer He is a great trainer, don't get me wrong, but recently his stable isn't as impressive as it was 5 or more years ago....He had James Toney, Pacquaio, Israel Vazquez etc. I THINK ITS A MIX OF HIS SUCCESS A MIST HIS AILING HEALTH CONDITIONS, AMERICA LOVES A FEEL GOOD STORY BUT THIS IS GETTING OLD HAND.
