All the base-less trash talk....the million and one threads per week about his opinion.
All the accolades he gets out of pity.....dude shouldn't have got trainer of the year half the time he got them.
I cant think of one fighter he developed from scratch in the ams, let alone early on in their pro career....IMO as a trainer he is a bit overrated and other great trainers get overlooked because he has Pacquaio who is so beloved and such a great ambassador to the sport.
He is a great trainer but he is no better than Nacho Beristein, Virgil Hunter, or Robert Garcia.
JUST STFU ALL READY AND PREPARE MANNY FOR THE FIGHT BECAUSE HE AND SR CANT FIGHT FOR FLOYD OR MANNY
I guarantee, all these gimps in this thread giving Freddie Roach a pass, are the same buttwipes that hate Angel Garcia, Roger Mayweather, and Mayweather Sr.
I guarantee it.
Freddie is just doing his job. The more stuff he says the more reporters are going to come to him for quotes and leave Mann alone. A lot of coaches in other sports do this to take pressure off their players and take the brunt of the media attention themselves.
Piles is no joke.
Roach is not a bad trainer. I don't think he can train true boxers. He can show an offensive guy how to see more angles. But as far as technical boxing goes he is not one of my top 5 trainers.
I like Roach, think he's a bit over rated and has received a bit too many accolades and his trash talking used to get on my nerves but I just think he has to do that especially with Manny.
Mannys whole persona is the holier than thou nice guy routine it's wouldn't make sense and would go against his image if he did the trash talking so that's why I think Roach has to play that role.
I find the same thing happening with GGG and Abel where Gennady just has to be the good guy talk about so and so being a good boy and Abel will be the one that talks greasy and disrespectful towards other fighters and it lets the fighters off the hook and continue to play the good guy roles while stirring up a bit of s.h..it.

That statement saying Freddie "gets his accolades out of pity" shows me you know nothing at all about boxing. Freddie learned from the best Mr Boxing Eddie Papa Smurf Futch. Nacho Ok he's proved himself as for Hunter & Garcia theyre not worthy of carrying Freddie's jockstrap

Don't read his articles. One thing that many places like this do is that they give him an interview and they make articles of bits and pieces of it.

I've been thinking this for couple weeks now. I've always thought Roach was overrated as a trainer. He's always saying how Floyd Sr is a bad trainer. The difference between Sr and Roach is that Sr actually trained fighters from the ground up. Same thing with Roger. They train kids. They say if you can train kids, then you can train anyone. Roach has always been handed already established fighters. If we really think about it, without Pacquiao, he's just another trainer who has bad days and good days. My friend says Roach is inspirational, and I used to think that too. But HBO and 24/7 did a real good job portraying him that way. I don't know what's wrong with him these days, but the more he talks, the more nervous he sounds. My friend is a Muay Thai kickboxer and before his bout in the locker room, he would be very talkative and couldn't sit still. I could tell he was getting nervous, which is normal for fighters. I don't know what Freddie is trying to accomplish. Maybe trying to instill fear into Mayweather, but the trainer sounds more nervous than the fighter.
I lost my patience for him when he started talking about how no one knows who GGG is because he never sees him on HBO and that makes him a poor opponent for Cotto. Considering that Golovkin fights 4 times for each of Cotto's fights, it was a pretty stupid thing to say.
This sounds about as stupid as "floyd is going to get ko'ed" within 6...
I'm also tired of roach's **** but truly it's the only buzz we hear from any of the camps...
I fear it will be a long 12 rounds, somewhat boring, and a split decision to FMJ
Everyone has an opinion. I could easily say your opinion sounds stupid, but there is no such thing as a stupid opinion, even if it comes from a stupid person.
I don't think you guys realize that reporters are consistently in his face.. i'm sure hes bored of saying the same **** and just has fun saying w/e he wants. or reporters ask questions and he gives answers that simple. It's not like hes going out of his way to get the word out.
roach does trash talk too much but i don't think that takes away from how good of a trainer he is.
roach has produced countless of champions more than guys like virgil hunter and robert garcia. i think nacho is the only one currently who can claim to have produced and train as much champions or slightly more as him.
name 5 champions Freddie roach developed early on before they ever won a world title or was a top ten contender
Nacho developed ATG jmm, ricardo lopez, gilberto roman, and near great Zaragoza from scratch....also Rafa Marquez
They must do this interviews because it is in the contract.
and also:
roach talks too much to sell the fight. while
Floyd fans said Floyd pretend to be bad to sell fights
He pretended beating women up
He pretended threatening his kids
He pretended rear naked choking step son
all of these were done to sell fights.
You can get the last laugh when you watch Freddie Roach eat crow in the towel in the 8th or 9th round of the fight when he throws in the towel.
