He gets a bad rap for being a frontrunner but he was one of the most talented fighters of his generation. If he had the mental dexterity or make up of some one like Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacqiuao he would have been one of the greats
He didn't live up to his potential in many peoples eyes but he didn't become an undisputed welterweight champion, in an era of splintered belts. Also won the IBF title early in his career and also when he past prime and 33 years old
Contrary to popular believe, he did not lose all of his significant fights and had some very good wins
Wins over champions/titlsts: Kaizer Mabuza, Junior Witter, Demarcus Corely, Cory Spinks, Rafael Pineda, Terron Millet
Contenders/gatekeepers: Reggie Green, Micky Ward, Darryl Tyson, and Lucas Matthyssee
Judah is one of my favorite fighters from the time when I really became enamored with the sport around 1996-1997 and I watched him not make the Olympics and go one to be a world champion. It was great to see
Brooklyn stand up!!!!
His rear hand uppercut is a thing of beauty.
^^^ I was just thinking that. It's like you can't even come here without exposing yourself to the most ridiculous b*tching about every little thing and every fighter around and everyone they fight and everything they do. Maybe only half of it's real and half of it is trolling but all of it is just negative b*tching all the time. It's like almost everybody has a few fighters they like and they want everybody else to get crapped on to make those fighters look better by comparison or something.
Dude made an appreciation thread not a ***** fest thread
This site is getting old hat
Like talking to middle school kids....80% of the people on this site never been in boxing gym and they call pros cowards and ducks...****s comical to me
His rear hand uppercut is a thing of beauty.
He is appreciating his talent and the time he dedicated to the sport and the blood sweat and tears he gave to support his family and to fans
I never though he was great but he was a good fighter
I hate this site cause people do nothing but criticize and chastise

I'll give you a fair assessment on Zab Judah.
HBO's Larry Merchant once said something along the line that a gifted fighter not only encompasses physical gift, but he's got to have hard work and dedication with a heart of iron...
I've always felt Judah was physically gifted, but felt that he was never mentally strong and he lacks will. In his biggest fights, he was never able to focus from start to finish. That's why he only had moments in those fights, examples are his fights with Mayweather, Cotto, Khan, Tszyu and Clottey.
If you enjoy his work, more power to you. I was never a fan of him and thought he would never enter the HOF and don't see him getting there now...

Unfortunately he didn't get credit for the Floyd knockdown, that could have been his biggest accomplish.
You think Zab is an ATG or a world class fighter...So its obvious to you that you think i dont know what defines a world class fighter. I will tell you this...Zab is what a world class fighter is not! Beating B and C class fighters and journeymen fighters does NOT make you great. It makes you...Nothing. Especially after losing every fuking time you step up!!!
Now had he won a few lost a few to A and A+ fighters...those B abd c and journeymen fighters wouldn't be looked upon. All fighters have fought that opposition. But Judah...LOSS every time he stepped up. Those are the facts.
If you think he is all that...thats ok. Some people belive in the Easter Bunny. Believe what you want. But Zab is a Bum and the easter bunny isnt real!
Exactly what I thought
he pulled your card and you showed your true colors
You don't know what a world class fighter is
A world class fighter is a guy who competes with and defeats top ten competition
Judah was never an atg....he was aworld class fighter
He won championships and beat contenders and champs alike
You sir dksab
You're just a PAC fan boy
I am glad you like him and he had skill and fought some good fights. He also has fought some poor fights and he is as inconsistent as can be. He is indeed a front runner and sometimes just a runner and a quitter. I thought he quit in his fight with Khan hoping for a DQ for Khan hitting low. Khan didn't hit him low but he knew Khan was more than he could handle so he stayed down when I believe he could easily have gotten up before 10. He screamed low blow trying to get Khan DQed but it didn't work. He ran from Baldomir in a fight he probably could have won if he had some heart. He won the unified title by beating Spinks who wasn't very good and then lost it in his next fight to Baldomir. I thought he quit against Cottey because Clottey was kicking his ass. I thought Matthysse clearly beat Judah and was robbed. A prime Judah was knocked out by Tszyu and then put on an incredible display of poor sportsmanship. Recently he lost to Paulie who he should easily have beaten. Yes Judah had very fast hands and sharp hard punches and was a champion level fighter but I overall I don't appreciate him. If he is a favorite of yours more power to you. He is still fighting so enjoy him.
I dont care what Freddie won. Did Mosleys dad win anything? lol Who gives a fuk! Zab is a world class bum. Didnt beat anyone that is world class. Not even close. Lucus...isnt world class whether or not YOU think he won or not.
He nothing more than a glorified FNF sparring partner. ( That never won a step up fight in his life)
You are right about one thing... He did fight the best out there. He loss every time...but he fought them. He loss every time but...he loss every time...
Of course you don't care what Freddie won, he is your man's trainer.
Dude was real disrespectful to Zab and he handled it a lot better than other fighters would have. Roach calling a former world champion and bum and he never won even won a state championship SMH
Freddie talks out his ass a lot and he wasn't much of a fighter himself. Calling a guy who was a very good amateur and very good pro a bum. Roach has done nothing but train people who already know how to fight. Name one guy he trained who wasn't a contender or a champion before he got them.
define a world class fighter
its obvious to me you have no idea what a world class fighter is.
Sit down and shut the fuk up! Judah is a bum. GOAT BUM! Never won a big fight.
Paul Malignaggi LOSS
Danny Garcia LOSS
Amir Khan LOSS KTFO
Lucas Martin Matthysse GOT A GIFT
Joshua Clottey LOSS
Miguel Cotto LOSS KTFO
Floyd Mayweather Jr LOSS
Carlos Manuel Baldomir LOSS LMFAO!!
Cory Spinks LOSS
Kostya Tszyu LOSS KTFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brooklyn Stand up http://www.eevblog.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley_laughing.gif
Im from Georgia...I just respect him as a fighter...whether he won or not he fought the best boxing had to offer from 140-147 in his era
PAC BOY...the consummate kill joy....hater of all boxers not named Pacquaio
Bro he clearly beat Matthyssee by 2 rounds....Alexander got a gift IMO..that fight was closer
Cory Spinks, Mickey Ward, Reggie Green, Terron Millet, Junior Witter, Omar Weis, and Demarcus Corely were all good fighters and he beat them, stop being so negative with every post.
Bum's don't beat world class fighters and contenders....he isn't an all time great, but he sure wasn't a bum....the guy in your avatar's trainer....now that was a bum. Did Freddie roach even win an NABF or USBA or regional title, even a state title?
Zab was a good fighter and an appreciation thread is long overdue.
My only problem is that where there a Zab appreciation thread made before he became Floyd's sparring partner?
I used to go beatween NSB and Boxing247, I usually do one on my favorite fighters who started out in the late 90s and are active today about every 2 months
Zab was my favorite fighter in middle
school....along with Jones Jr, Floyd and Prince Naseem Hamed....i'll be 30 next month
People **** on Zab....chicken dance videos, his shortcomings but he was a quality fighter and had a lot of talent
He is still around today when more touted guys from his era are gone like Fernando Vargas, Cory Spinks, Margarito, David Reid, etc....mad props from me
Solid, talented boxer. Was one of my favs growing up.
Checkered character, and sore loser. And gun shy in the ring.
On his best night though he could give anyone problems.
^^^^^
this right here. period.
I forgot who came up with this one:
They were going to make a Zab Judah video game, but they found that the controller stopped working after 4 rounds.
Anyways, I've always liked Zab.
Sam Casey? You mean Sam Cassell?

Sorry, i meant Sam Cassel of Los Angeles Pellican assistant coach of Doc rivers
I thought New York Lakers was a dead give away.
was it New Orleans Clippers, I am a little confuse
Zab Judah is one of the most overrated fighters in my lifetime. People who are mesmorized by speed and power fell in love with him. But he choked in every big fight he was in. His biggest win is Cory Spinks. If Judah wasn't from Brooklyn he would have been dismissed a long time ago.
