This match is an unlikely move on Jake Paul's part. Or is it? I've wondered just how used-up AJ really is these last few years. He looked strangely lacking against Jermaine Franklin and then suddenly dangerous (after an over cautious several early rounds) against a zombie in Robert Helenius. He appeared to get into Otto Wallin's head and had his way with the big Swede in their bout, but how much did Wallin really have left himself by that point? Then AJ looked stellar against novice boxer Francis Ngannou. When they made AJ vs Dubois I remembered the old rumor from back around 2018; Dubois had manhandled AJ in sparring, dropping him and in some circles, word was he had all but knocked AJ out. When I saw AJ get all wound-up with DD at their pre-fight round table, I knew something was up re the rumors and wondered if he had enough for the revitalized Dubois. As we all now know, DD rag-dolled AJ with apparent ease. The on again off again promise of a comeback was ****ed with several reasons, but to me, I wondered if they were hiding something. They say that fans in the U.S. have zero belief in AJs remaining skills and chin, and that they vastly underrate him today, as he is (or is it really, how he appears to be). On some level that may be true, and if so, count Jake Paul among those American ranks. But my instincts suggest there is more to this. Just wondering? Both have zero titles, both have very little in way of wins over top 10 opposition and they have both only faced 1 real top fighter. Both have lost to Tyson Fury but there is some strong arguments that Fury should of lost to Wallin considering the state of that cut, Wallin clearly took a couple of rounds off Fury too. On the other hand Wilder got completely dominated, couldn't win a round, wasn't the least bit competitive and got stopped by a so called feather fist. Now if we want to detract from Anthony Joshua after his loss to Ruiz, even though nobody else has beaten Ruiz, nobody else has floored Ruiz and even though Joshua cruised to victory in a rematch it doesn't seem to be taken in to account then why do we pretend that Wilder only lost cuz he's fighting the divisions number 1 and ignore the fact he looked like a useless club fighter and fighters deemed lower ranked managed to put up a better fight than he did. So maybe Wallin needs to be raised up in the rankings, nobody else has ever beaten him, or Wilder needs to be dropped below where Wallin is. Fury has a habit of lowering his standard when he fights lower level competition. Fury trained like a demon in the rematch, and even surprised himself at how easy the fight was. Ward is definitely a legitimate hall of famer. He’s no joke. He took on kovalev in the peak of his days and got the job done in the rematch (although I think he should have lost the decision in the first fight) He has a great fighters mentality, and adjusts very well. But it’d be interesting to see if boxing adjusted some of their rules/judging criteria to see what impact it would have. Like stricter punishments on clinching for example. That would result in harsh punishments and compete disqualification that everyone understands is “fair” if it happened. For example.. I truely think it’d cause someone like Klitschko to either raise his standard and become a better fighter without having the ability to just clinch anytime time his opponent got near. Or he would struggle and have more loses or tougher fights on his record. Another example is too much ring movement or over caution in the fight. Low output, almost amateurish style of fighting. Would be interesting to see if that would result in the judges swaying towards a more aggressive fighter and deducting points off a fighter who is there to “score points” as opposed to “fighting”. This is why I loved Emanuel steward. He could appreciate boxing skills, but would know that it’s a fight, and you’ve got too entertain and rumble. He was very disappointed in fighters if they would be a level above and just Coast to the finish line. (Look at Mayweather vs baldomir for example) I love boxing. And i get it, it’s hit and don’t be hit. But it ain’t a sport, it’s entertainment. So id love to start seeing the closer fights consistently going toward the aggressors, to start a chain reaction on how fighters can win. And fighters start to understand that they will be deducted and lose fights based on those tactics. Look at Roberto Duran or James toney. Those dudes can hit and not be hit better than anyone. Who has the better offense that has a better punch volume and power and who is better defensively in your opinion? Pacquiao is the more proven fighter with resumes being worlds apart. Even at Pacquiaos older stage, he’s able to compete in a higher weight class and perform right near the top. Pacquiaos peak was a pleasure to watch, a real atg. I don’t see that special factor with lomachenko who I think stayed waaaay too long in the amateurs.

You don't understand fighting. It's advantageous for Floyd to use his distance and range against shorter, stockier and more explosive opponents because they are at a reach disadvantage. A shorter opponents best way of landing punches on a taller and longer opponent is to close distance very quickly and get on the inside. By using movement and range Floyd is able to avoid getting hit by guys with less reach than him. Conor is a taller and more rangy opponent so Floyd has to close distance on him to make things happen. Floyd won't run but he'll have to use a lot of head movement to avoid being hit by Conor's counters. Have you ever competed in boxing before? Professionally or Amatuer?
