Getting some stuff down from the attic I found some old Sports Illustrated's and I found one that had a picture of a young Felix Trinidad and a little article on the state of boxing. It said that boxing was in trouble then and diluted by all the title holders and that it was going to have to do something to stay relevant. Then it had a list of the title holders in 1993 and the 8 title holders in 1950. I also found an article one time from the 1950's talking about how boxing is a dying sport. Just goes to show you that it will probably always be talked about but boxing will never go anywhere. And looking at the list of title holders in 1993, I would say that boxing is in better shape now than in 1993.
Homey, if Felix Trinidad was in SI (when normally it was DLH on other sports magazines) than you know boxing was/is alive and well!
Just curious,
How is it the same athletic commissions that caught Fernando Vargas, Shane Mosley, and James Toney cheating/ positive for PEDS all of a sudden are obsolete and irrelevant for Manny/Floyd?
Another question, before Manny was EVER a boxing start why hasn’t Floyd petition for this earlier in his career?
I agree the man look like stir fry sh1t last night, but I have seen bigger @ss kickings that warranted calls for retirement. I mean, he was almost getting tagged at will by Quintana, was anybody begging for his retirement then?
A lot of times when they sell tickets for that price it’s for an “X” amount of seats within a row.
When I went to the Manny/Cotto fight the MGM Grand is divided by letter section “A” being the closest to the ring where my poor @ss sat at section “U.” From what I recall Section “A” for a specified amount of seats within that row went up to $10,000. So no I’m not surprised you saw that for that amount!
irrelevant question. there is a first time for everything. You and I don't know why mayweather requested testing. he could have woke up and said lets test or he could have suspicions or know someone on the inside. Team pac verbally agreed to testing. if he was truly trying to duck he wouldn't use test to do so since they verbally agreed before negotiations even started.
So in that case, which fight ( if any) enabled suspicion that Manny was on PEDS in the first place?
Honestly man that’s hard to answer, it really depends on the fighters themselves. Pac early in his career has been KO’d and bounced backed remarkably, Fernando Vargas on the other hand was ruined after Tito!
i had a dream last night that floyd destroyed winky wright in a parking lot fight...random
also the night before i went to see martinez-dzinziruk, i had a dream jjc jr KO'D sergio in the 12th round. i actually told this to sampson lewkowicz while chatting with him after the fight.
It’s funny, my all time favorite fighter is Felix Trinidad and I had a dream that me and him were scheduled to fight each other in a church of all places there wasn’t even a ring just a stage. As soon as the bell rang to commence round 1 my paranoid a s s woke up!
Ricardo Williams
Panchito
Michael Grant
That’s a good list right there, I really can’t argue otherwise because all three were dubbed by many as heir apparent champions in the future and all fell by the wayside!
With all due respect for the same reason he is matching up Cotto/Margarito, besides the obvious money in the rematch he knows neither will ever be elite again thus cash out!
i mean before tommy got hiv i think it would have not lasted long since tyson would ko or tko him in round 4 or 5 is my prediction.
That would fight have a Ray Mercer insignia type beating all over again!
Boxing is banned in my country and for Tyson - Lewis we had multiple pre-fight hype shows and a bunch of documentaries and films on Tyson.
When Pacquiao fights, we get like 50 words on the last page of the paper.
Banned?
Where do you currently reside?
Oh yeah thats what he calls it "power boxing"
To be fair to Mosley he was tough and his "power boxing" strategy is something I like.
BUT it don't help him at all in this fight.
I see where you’re coming from homey but power is something you have or don’t just like hand speed. Mosley was blessed with hand speed and he constituted that as power.
When you can knock out fools with a punch that displays the whole “deer in the headlights” look than that’s definitive power, just ask Tommy Hearns and his foes who felt his right hand.
All I know was Tito was bouncing shots uselessly off of Winky's gloves.Power shouldn't evaporate like that.Especially when it's the last thing to go.It's not like He wasn't hitting Winky,he was touching Winky's guard & had absolutely no effect.Against Roy Jones he was landing solid shots, that was after looking powerless against Winky.
Oscar ran from Tito in 3 rounds. Before that Tito's power had no effect.$hit even then it had no effect.
You are talking about a past prime Tito who was well out of the welter weight division. Tito’s prime and greatest achievements (minus Vargas at 154) was at 147 (welter).
