Bob will overprotect Mikey the same way he overprotected Juanma and he will never feed him to Gamboa, because he knows he will lose. :( A young mexican champ has too much value to even consider matching him against anyone dangerous, so forget about the big boy of the division Gamboa. Unfortunately, that's the Top Rank way. If he was with Golden Boy, they wouldn't hesitate one moment putting him against Gamboa and they would accept that first loss as a learning experience. With all the buildup of the JuanMa vs Gamboa fight that has gone out the window cuz of Salido I guess this would be the next best thing. Actually, it might be a better thing to buildup. I just hope neither of these two lose on the way to each other. Arum should try to make this fight sometime within a year. He should have learned his lesson on trying to marinate a fight for too long.

I think its an interesting match because of the speed and power that Mikey brings but I think Gambo is just too fast and strong for him. I think Yuri can put mikey to sleep with just one punch but it does make for a good match up because Mikey can catch Yuri too. and it could set up a trilogy but not right away because both dudes are young I would like to see Mikey go at Juanma first and knock him out then take on Gamboa The difference between Mikey & the typical Gamboa opponent though is that Mikey is actually very good defensively & fights by boxing 1st.Gamboa goes in search of ko's ends up exposing himself with recklessness & has been caught because of it.Mikey can also counter punch & has good handspeed.Mikeys counterpunching is gonna slice Gamboa's output in half & probably stop him late.Not right now but sometime next year.

That'll be one hell of a fight! I still kinda favor Gamboa, but Garcia is heading his way. I expect a more competitive fight than the Juan Ma fight in which I thought Juan Ma would get slaughtered in against Gamboa.

Like I said, if he weathers the early storm, Mikey could give him problems.

After watching his performance Saturday night, stay away from that right hand. It bites.

Real talk, I REALLY like Mikey’s chances in this Gamboa is just open for right hands Garcia’s can not only land flush but could crack too.

It's a tough style for Gamboa because he's a patient counter puncher. If he can survive the early rounds, the deeper he takes the fight the better chance he has to beat him.
