Not much different than before the fight. I LOL'd when people were claiming Timmy would be a force to be reckoned with at 147, like, seriously? 12 KO's, no power, and there was that one guy who insisted Timmy could go to 154 and be a force as well. LOL.
Probably putting Canelo on the card to setup talk about a Canelo-Mayweather unification at 154. I doubt it's because they think Saul can't headline his own fights.
From what I understand, they actually take more than a half (yeah, crazy). Then HBO gets it taste. The remainder is what is divided. But there are other revenue sources to consider.
The New York Times ran a great article about it during the Ortiz fight.

Is this true that the companies (HBO/Showtime) take 50% of ppv money? seems like a high number. I know that the distributers(comcast, direct tv, etc) take around a third of the price right off the top.
I know then HBO gets a share of the remaining before it goes to the promoters, but is it really HALF of whats remaining?
Don't see it, Miguel tends to fade in later rounds, especially when pressed, while Floyd seems to get stronger as he makes his adjustments. With 8oz gloves, the result seems to be a forgone conclusion.
And you're acting like Pac wasn't racing neck and neck with Floyd for that payday with Cotto. GTFOH. Too bad for Pac, Miguel is a free agent and didn't have to bow to pressure to accept Manny's weight demands.
Or are you gonna tell me Cotto was a smokescreen all along, Pac was *really* targeting 140lb Bradley from the get go?
Somebody call Whine-1-1, we need a Waaaahhh-bulance.
Floyd fans still trying to give Floyd credit just cos he beat SSM coming off win against SSM. Evander holyfield didnt get much credit for beat buster douglas coming off of a win against TYson did he?
Just cos you coming off a good win dont mean you can repeat it. SSM was his last great performance. SSM performances after floyd prove hes lost it long ago.
That's hilarious, suggesting the bigger picture. You're telling me Hauser and Montoya have a source that could implicate USADA as non-neutral, non-objective, and they choose to sit on it? It'd be the story of the decade. Forget FMJ, that kind of story would ripple throughout the sports world considering the legends that USADA has taken down, Bonds, Jones, Armstrong would be lawyered up in a minute's notice, demanding that any fines, convictions, or investigations be suspended in light of that fact. But we're supposed to believe USADA thinks GBP and FMJ are untouchable. laugh. my. a$$. off.
Reminds me of the Pac Circle Jerk move: No evidence of Pac using PEDs therefore he doesn't need to be tested, therefore no evidence of Pac using PEDs therefore he doesn't need to be tested, therefore no evidence of Pac using PEDs.
It's cute.
"Where there's smoke there's fire" is the ultimate trump card right out of the f10mo playbook , no amount of logic or evidence can beat it... it's like the Chewbacca defense
No, because WADA isn't a testing agency, it's a governing body. Floyd didn't refuse, Arum was/is totally confused about the testing. WADA itself issued a notice telling Arum/TR/Pac that it doesn't do testing, that WADA recommends using USADA. Arum moved on to other excuses, and the Pac Circle Jerky Army did too.
Its been long suspected on NSB that Floyd was on some PEDs. He knew the testing procedures and he was closely linked to USADA. This is a billion dollar business, what is to say that USADA is not in Floyd's pocket.
Didnt anyone find it suspicious that he refused when Pacquiao and Arum wanted to use the more legitimate WADA to handle the testing?
Not in this case, since Hauser just recycled Montoya's schtick but protected himself by wording it more carefully as rumors. This is the same stuff that got Gabe hit with the legal equivalent of 'put up or shut up' and guess what? Gabe shutup.
I dunno, but to quote f10mo$ "where there's smoke there's fire"
I think some ppl are underrating Floyd's power. He's gone toe to toe with several sluggers and had no problem finding their chin and hurting them.
Hatton is the smaller guy, is moving up to 147, not his optimal weight. The Collazo fight wasn't tough for Hatton because Luis was a southpaw...his size also troubled Ricky. Hatton likes to grab and hold and wrestle, and he does it much better against smaller opponents. He had no trouble bullying JLC who just moved up in weight.
But Floyd's filled out nicely, and yeah, his most recent fights he's fought from the outside and boxed for the win. But he's finally climbing back in the ring with a guy more his size. I expect Floyd to test the waters with his jab for the first couple rounds, but if he starts landing, I would expect to see Mayweather take the fight to Ricky and try to back him up.
I have a hunch that team Mayweather watched the Pavlik-Miranda fight and the thought crossed their mind...make Hatton back up and see if he can fight in a retreat.
bitch all you want but that fight was 100x more watchable than the Hatton Urango fight.
I mean at least floyd actually tried.
Ricky "Huggy Bear" Hatton just held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held and held....
well you get the point.
yea i remember that fight, everyone was leaving after the 7th 8th round cause floyd was running around the ring like a bitch slappin pussy shots at baldi. if baldy would have landed one punch skeetweather would have droped like shit in a port a john
i'm thinking its the shock effect that finally did JT in. The accumulation of punches hurt him, but the single and 1-2 shots in round 7 finally got through to JT. It's the same way when you've gotten cut or broken a finger playing sports, you're so amped up that you don't feel it so much. But given time, the adrenaline wears off and all of a sudden, it hurts alot. And I think that's how JT took those round 7 punches...all of a sudden, they hurt alot more than the earlier rounds, and Kelly just kept dropping bombs on him.
I think the ref did a great job with the stoppage because even if JT managed to beat the count, Kelly would have done alot more unnecessary damage.
photos are so fake looking, i don't know how anyone can buy into the idea that they're real.
the skin color of his face and head are so off in several of them.
and the one of him sitting on the bathtub with his legs open...that one doesn't even seem to have the right physics...it's like he's floating on air there.
if you have to question whether the photo is real or not...most likely it's not real.
Aside from the photos looking like photochopped fakes...
None of it makes sense. People are saying he'd have to be completely blasted drunk to let a stripper photograph him cross-dressing.
I've been blasted drunk. Alot of guys have been blasted drunk. And the last thing you want to do (or are even ABLE to do) is pose for pictures. You're staggering around incoherent, grabbing tits and ass, getting into fights, and eventually tossing your cookies or passing out.
You're NOT putting on a bunch of female clothing, lacing up boxing gloves, and then walking around your hotel room posing for pictures.
They could still be fake, check it... bitch takes normal pictures with de la hoya.. like the two where he is dressed. takes mutliple pics, then her and a buddie get together and try to match the head position a bit.. she has him pose and she snaps the pics.. he edits them in photoshop and walla.. you got the oscar de la tranny pics..
of course this is a lot of work and highly unlikely.. but you never know.
we will have to wait and see what the truth is!
Benn would have lost in the 1st. Gman had him done with but the referee saved Benn's ass like how many times? He gave him so many opportunities to recover it was pathetic.
thought tony would win but paul did it convincingly.
that said...i still pick mayweather with the UD. too much speed and too crafty with the counterpunches. yeah paul will unload on him but i cant picture mayweather standing in any one spot for too long.
as for the reach advantage, mayweather's shown he's comfortable fighting in the pocket and paul has a tendency to fight close despite his length. height is an issue but floyd hasn't had any problems going to the body.
will be an awkward fight for sure, but mayweather pulls it off.
heh there's no end to the hate...
if floyd were signing to fight mosley, his critics would yell how he's ducking Ricky Hatton.
God, doesn't this shit get old for you guys?
lame.
I'll take Tony by KO/TKO...he's got the chin, he's big enough to not let Paul push him around, and he doesn't mind coming forward.
Hope there are fireworks.
Don't know the purse but guaranteed it's gonna be huge.
Tito vs Roy = REVENUE. Regardless, these guys are both legends even if the are past their prime. Like I've always said, Tito should've stayed retired, but to come back and challenge roy, who just came out of a fight? Ridiculous, he should've fought a lesser oponent and build his momentum. What's the purse on this fight? Anybody know?
Just a guess on my part but I don't think Miranda's going to be the same fighter after that beating at the hands of Pavlik. I hate to be the pessimist because Miranda's story is so heartbreaking and I would love to see him succeed..but he's moving up in weight and will be facing even stronger punchers. One good shot would be enough to rattle Edison, not just physically but mentally. But hey I could be wrong and he may just find his groove at this higher weight. Best of luck to him.
