Mosley has only lost to Forrest and Winky. Stylistaclly Forrest always gave Mosley problems in the amateur and pro's. His 6 foot tall frame and his lanky jab were the main reason. Winky's peak-a-boo defense along with his own jab went on to give Taylor and even Hopkins problems.
Miguel Cotto has none of that. No size advantage, no great jab and defense isn't that great either. See Cotto/Torres for evidence.
Beating Malinaggi, Quintana and Judah were great wins but all those guys had flaws that Cotto took advantage off. Malinaggi had the speed, footwork but not the fire power to hold Cotto off.....Shane does. Quintana was a good (not very good) boxer but he was overrated by fans based on his win vs Joel Julio, who barely beat Cosme Rivera afterwards. Judah had the power and the speed but he didn't have the mental strength to take a few shots and keep fighting a la vs Baldomir......Shane does.
Also Mosley is the last 36 year old guy you should be worrying about regarding his prime status. Being a gym rat all these years has helped him in that department. So don't even give me the "Cotto is younger and stronger then Mosley" theory. If that's all you're leaning on...don't bet your money on it.
See here what Mosley does to fighters who don't have a great jab, shell like defense or the speed that competes with his own. Bodypunching will only get you so far.
Miguel Cotto does have the offensive tools to beat Mosley, but unfortunatley for him he dosen't have the chin or the defense to withstand the consistent, hard combinations from Mosley. There is no way Cotto can stay undefeated with his style of always coming forward while leaving his chin open to get cracked, he is gonna get exposed. I have already bet a shitload of money on Mosley to KO/TKO Cotto and I am not gonna be disappointed.
Not having a great chin and no great defense means not having the tools to beat Mosley. There is plenty of more things he doesn't have in his toolbox to beat Mosley. No great lanky jab (forrest), doesn't have the handspeed that competes with Mosley's. No Size advantage.
He is goner.

Yea he comes forward at a slow pace. Cotto is half boxer/half agressor. He is not a great pressure fighter. Good pressure fighter but not great. Mosley will pick him apart from the outside. This is gonna be a one-sided beating.
People are gonna be suprised how one sided it's gonna be. It looks more competitive then it is right now.
That's one comment i will agree on. And it is because of his notably, rising popularity
how would of that happened??? most of mosley impressive career was at 135!! in 147 he beat oscar yes but by sd and he los to vermont forrest at 154 he los to forrest again and winky twice but he beat oscar again.
did you see the de la hoya fight?, lol that sd was bs and im a bigger DLH fan....prime MOsley does to Cotto what old mosley did to old vargas...
Mosley likes to stay in front of you and overpower you and he has a better defense and quicker offense thancotto, cotto is made for him...Mosley KO'ed
every opponent but de la hoya at 147 before forrest...up to the forrest fght, only 3 opponents got to a decision with mosley....
how???? as far as i know cotto is the one that is recognized by his pressure i bet u mosley past round 4 he's going to diminish his punches thrown watch.

i never thought cotto was hurt against zab he just got caught with a good punch here and there.shane didn't know how to adapt in his first fight against forrest or winky he looked frustrated like if he didn't know what to do.
cotto has a good defense he only gets caught while he is punching like in the fight with torres and corley
Yeah but cottos style is nothing like forrest or winky so he would have no problem with cotto. If anything cottos style is similar to vargas'. He's just executes that style better than him. So IMO mosely's is just facing a better version of vargas.
kball, i like you but, theres no way cotto vs prime mosley is an even fight, mosley in his prime would Knock Cotto out cold inside 7 rounds....
I like Miguel, but i think Shane has the style advantage....the only hope for Miguel is to rely on Mosley's age...

i sort of agree with this post here.
Mosley is a fighter before anything else, and it takes very good stamina to keep up with him... WHEN HE WAS IN HIS PRIME!
I think he recent wins are more then decieving, i think he fades dramatically late in this fight and i think Cotto comes on SO strong late that he stops Mosley
dont get me wrong, if this fight was made when Mosley was in his prime it still would have been a hell of an even fight, but id make MOsley the slight favorite instead of Cotto.
Cotto has a strong jab, but its not gonna be so effective against mosley cause Cotto needs som room to step into it.
Body punching WILL be very effective, Cotto is a great body puncher, and its gonna tear the life out of Mosley in the late rounds.
I expect an amazing fight, but i have strong feeling that mosleys age will play a large factor, and youth will overcome age on novemver 10th

One more thing: Mosley possesses an EFFECTIVE, Counter body-attack of his own :boxing:
Of course Cotto will not fade on his own. Mosley will make him fade. If you read carefully rounds 1-6 it's all Mosley which is why Cotto starts fading down the stretch and starts getting fatigued.
Like chopping down a tree as the old saying goes.

Where did I say he has no stamina???? Read between the lines sunny.
I said he has a relaxed slow pace. It worked thus far but it stops on november 10th.
Here is how I see the fight happening based on the above that I wrote:
round 1-5, Mosley is just using his jab and quick one-two's to keep Cotto at bay and has no problems. Cotto is applying alot of pressure but not landing enough. The few bodyshots he does land don't effect Mosley at all.
Round 6, Cotto starts to fade and fatigue starts kicking in. He is not able to do anything and the few good shots he landed never effected Mosley.
Round 7, Mosley picks up the pace from quick one-two's to throwing 4-5 punch combinations.
Round 8, at one point they trade but the steam off of Cotto's punches is gone and Mosley gets the better of the exchange. Mosley catches him with a good shot and cotto is staggered on his feet. Cotto like Vargas against Delahoya backs up against the ropes hurt, Mosley goes for the kill. Either Cotto goes down early and gets a count and another chance OR Mosley just finished him off on his feet with the ref waving it off.
Im going for the second option.
Winner by 8rd tko, Shane Mosley
