Paul Williams is a demanding fighter. He will make Cintron work, work, & work some more. All of those punches coming at Cintron (off a 6'2" lefty) will confound him.
By the 7th rd. Cintron will have the fight taken/beaten out of him.....after that, he SEARCHES for the softest part on the canvas for which to end that beating.
He had one of the best right hands I've ever seen, his left hook was a very dangerous punch as well, the Mike Quarry knockout was scary.
Most (including myself) would say his left hook was definitely his biggest punch.
That's what he took Tiger, Quarry, & Rondon out with.
I said Rosario, although it could also be Foster. that man could crack.
knockout percentages dont really mean anything.
Black....
Those who witnessed Rosario back in the 80's....know they were seeing one of the better punchers they've seen.
His KO of Viruet was devastating. The one over Bramble really was a frightening offensive display, against a fighter thought to be almost impossible to hurt.
Spinks :wtf1:
You obviously never saw him at 175....where he KO'd numerous people with one punch. Go back & check some old magazines....Spinks was the conscensus choice as the sport's best puncher during the early 80's (along with Hearns)
At 175 lbs, only Foster hit harder (& yes, that includes Archie Moore)
exactly what i was thinking!!! are they asking who took the hardest punch? or who hit the ground the hardest?
C'mon.....you guys need to know more history !
Michael Spinks could punch, he was a light heavyweight who went up to heavyweight and knocked out 6'6, 240 lb Gerry Cooney. He only came to pick up a paycheck against Mike Tyson.
They're just younger fans who probably aren't very aware of Spinks' accomplishments....& only know of him through Tyson.
lmao  this is a terrible list of punchers though. Where's hamed, shavers, charles, marciano, moorer, Basilio
.....or Julian Jackson, Pipino Cuevas, Thomas Hearns, Carlos Zarate, Wilfredo Gomez, Danny lopez, Alexis Arguello, Saad Muhammad, Cyclone Hart, Gerald McClellan
Joe Frazier was relentless. He would walk through whatever he could, & WORK until the job was done. He couldn't be frustrated.
Mike Tyson was not a "worker", & was easily frustrated. He wouldn't outright quit, but when you stood up to him & put some shit back on him, you cut his ferocity in half. Sure, he was a much bigger two-fisted hitter, faster, & better defensively than Frazier.....but he wouldn't stay on Ali like Frazier did.
Ah, one of those prime RJJ was unbeatable guys. Well im sure your mind is already made up and has been for years. Roy didnt go forward against anyone with a pulse.
Any good fighter would look against who he fought in his prime.
Thomas Tate went the distance with the greatest puncher of all time in Julian Jackson, & gave him a helluva fight. Roy iced him in two.
Glenn Wolfe , Merqui Sosa, & Montell Griffin went the distance with James Toney (Griffin won the two)...Roy took them out in 1, 2, & 1 rds.
Tony Thornton troubled every one he fought...& I think he only lasted three with Roy.
Roy handled Toney, & clearly beat hopkins...two fighters who still make everyone they fight look like shit.
You know dick about boxing.
Calzaghe would beat Pavlik....but there's no way Pavlik is afraid of him. Even though he is so difficult to beat, no one is afraid of Joe Calzaghe. He's just not that type of fighter anyone would fear.
I thought Jones didn't look quite the same starting from the Harding fight, his footwork just looked that little bit slower.
That's about the time where I started being annoyed by him. He was too tentative against harding, Harmon, Gonzalez, etc....
Pavlik only moves ahead and Jones cant fight going back.
So, Roy won by going forward ?
Pavlik will walk into Roy's full arsenal....which was 10x deadlier than that of Jermain Taylor.
I just hope he wouldnt be weight drained. Not in the first fight when he gets knocked cold but in the rematch. The second fight (months later)is when the effects really set in.
Again...PRIME JOnes was not known to have weight issues.
Is there anything you know about "Prime Jones"... which are words contained in the thread title ? Do you know you should not be so extreme about something you know so little about ?
You said "anyone would look good against the people who fought prime Roy"....& I instantly showed you the fighters he beat easily, fighters who troubled everyone else.
Wassup Jabs (this is the minister aka malcolm)!
Roy Jones was never EXPOSED. The guy didn't get a legitimate loss on his record until he was 35 years old. Big deal. The guy turned pro in 1988. For people who say he fought only bums and cab drivers then I guess you consider Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and even Antonio Tarver bums as well.
People who say Roy Jones was exposed more times than not have NO boxing experience or even fighting experience of any kind. Everyone has to lose at some point - unless you're fortunate enough to opt for early retirement like Floyd.
But trust, if Floyd comes back and fights the TOP DOGS at 147 until he's 36 years old, his 0 will be gone baby gone.
My man, what's up ?
As usual, you speak with nothing but logic. Good luck with that in here ! I don't even know whynI bother sometimes.
yeah you gave me red k because u cant handle the fact Jones was a myth
Jones was never beaten in his prime because he was to busy fighting policemen and postmen he got KTFO twice in his career he was a myth
James Toney & Bernard Hopkins......Both were better, at the time than ALL of Tyson's victims- combined.
Tyson's biggest win ? A KO over a rusty, knee-bandaged, frightened, & blown-up 175lber in Spinks.
Unlike Cotto...Trinidad would never tire from bashing Margarito's head around....& Tito would certainly bash AM's head much harder/worse than Cotto did.
Don't give me the "Tito was one-dimensional" crap, because his limitations were only brought out against THE SLICKEST of fighters. A guy like Margarito is Tito's dream opponent. Slow, & open all night long.
Marg's chin keeps him around for a while, but his face is decimated......in 8.
you make a good point. I didnt think he looked bad at all in the Nelson fight, but those other two he wasnt so great. I always assumed that it was because he didnt have an amazing opponent in front of him, so he didnt care as much. you also have to remember he was defending his title like 3 or 4 times a year, Im sure that took a bit out of him.
but there are a lot of unanswered questions about him. Really goes to show how good Azumah Nelson was, giving him that kind of trouble so early in his career and everything. very overlooked fighter.
BTW...If you go by the same/similar handle on YouTube, I truly appreciate your contributions...excellent stuff.
