Wouldnt blame either of them, unfortunately for RP Roach has a lot of fighters at his stable, and there wasnt enough time for Ruslan. He was trained by the Filippino kid a lot I guess.
I wouldve been more delighted if he chose JDJ or Abel Sanchez as his new trainer, but anyway..
So if you caught your favorite fighter with a needle full of anabol being injected into his @$$ you would just shrug it off and say its a part of the sport??
Yes. Every elite level sportsman uses something. Even in brandy, or cricket or whatever. If you think otherwise, you are more delusional than Khan.
Yup, good to see others have seen the truth. I've known he's been ducking all along.
I guess you havent realised that GGGs english sucks and uses the same 25-30 sentences/phrases to answer to any question possible in the universe.
He clearly meant that the weight difference is too much, which is the case.
Their accents ruined it. Golovkin sounds so goofy he should just speak his native language. Probably would make him seem scarier
Sure. Look at the Provodnikov Alvarado faceoff. Much less anticipated fight than this but way better faceoff. Golovkin would be much scarier speaking his native and forcing himself 1 or 2 serious looks. I understand that his character is not "the bad guy". But nor Provodnikov's, and watch how good that faceoff was.
Kovalev\s win over Hopkins is the reason he's higher, though GGG beats Hopkins pretty easily if they had fought.
Exactly this. And also because generally ppl think Golovkin gets beaten by Ward but for Kova they are not sure about. That's a weight issue which should not be considered in a poll "who do you rate higher".
I think the same way about Ward vs GGG/Kova as these people think, but it doesn't make me rate Kovalev higher.
They are both huge.
Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, trainer of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs), watched Gennady 'GGG'
Yes, he is that good. Thats why his team does not want to fight him despite outweighing him.
Well, the so called "true test" will never come, let's just leave it at that.
If he beats Lem, he will suddenly become a bum. If he beats Cotto, he will become too small. If he beats Canelo, he will become too green. Lol, I even think if he'd beat Ward, he would become too inactive..even though I think he would lose that fight..
When the knockout streak will eventually come to an end then people will say "he looked bad","age is showing up" because now its just too standard he knocks his opponent out.
Anyway boxers and fighters in general from Russia (or from other ex-Soviet countries) seem unhumanly strong at this time. Would be interesting to know if this is just pure variance, some dope or just my illusion.
Unable to link, but search "Road to Golovkin/Lemieux: Full Show" on youtube
I dont know if this has been posted, but a good one.
They are adding useful new English words to GGG's vocabulary :)
They are hyping it very well.
there is no doubt canelo and cotto and the real tests for ggg not over hyped lemiuex i agree. its just a shame that his biggest tests he is way bigger then but that shouldnt stop the fights from happening. Im not one those that think cotto is ducking ggg its obvious cotto and canelo was the fight they were working on had nothing to do with ducking ggg but it sure as hell is going to be interesting to see what the winner of cotto canelo will do. i actually think there is a better chance for cotto ggg then canelo ggg but thats just me. I think if canelo wins oscar will work to get canelo lemieux in the ring get lemieux a ko win and set up canelo lemieux with the winner getting ggg or some garbage like that. well see tho but with ggg not willing to fight ward and what seems like an unwillingness for cotto and canelo to fight ggg its just frustrating
The answer to this question is highly dependent on how many fight years are left in them, so we are more likely to witness Canelo-GGG imo. But remember !! Canelo is too green for GGG!!
I dont know what Gennady did in previous weigh ins but in this one, he seemed to use a Mayweatherish body language with the chewing gum, finger kissing and smiling. Its not that important for me to check, but if this is the first time hes doing it, then their intentions with this is clear.
I cant wait for the fight. After watching this I cant even describe what GGG will do to Lemieux. Cant wait.
Froch win > Golovkin's whole career
Abraham win > anything Golovkin did
Kessler win > Golovkin's whole career
Dawson win > anything Golovkin did
If wrote those with a straight face just stop following this sport please.
Dawson win? Perhaps you didn't know the contracted weight? Dawson weighed at least 5,5 pounds less than on his fights before at the weigh in. So If you genuinely count that as a legit win, then Im an ATG because I can KO Klitschko at welterweight. Dawson win though would have been the biggest one in his career, but considering this Im sorry...its Dawsons fault accepting that weight though..
You bring up Kessler and Abraham seriously? I mean Abraham is ATG in jumping rope..
Froch win was great, he schooled him, thats it up until this point. And he is going back and forth retiring and coming back to beat Paul Smithes.
GGG had been superiorly active and had similar type of opposition in his division but he is knocking them out like they are nothing. He has yet to have a signature win which everone would consider great, though, he knocked out Murray who has arguably beaten and knocked down Martinez (P4P top 3 at that time) in his hometown.
If its true, my take is:
Canelo UD Cotto
GGG KO Lemieux in the first 6
GGG late KOes Canelo or decisions him, depending on the game plan of the mexican.
Cotto GGG not happening
I literally can't pick a winner for this fight. Vegas has Canelo listed as a favorite (-245 Canelo/+205 Cotto). What I'm more interested in is how did Klitschko lightly tear a calf muscle so the fight was pushed back a month and Wladimir went from being a -425 favorite to an even bigger favorite at -500 ?! I really wish I knew what all of these oddsmakers do from inside the camps. That is useful.
Odds are determined when the fight is on, but from then onwards, the predictors "move" the odds by betting. So obviously the oddsmakers determined a big odds, a value from the bettors perspective, for Klitschko on the first fight (aka There were a lot of money on him the first time). So this time they put him as a bigger favourite. They need to change the odds, so that whatever actually happens on the match they win.
I hope its clear.
He was working with a trainer. Hardly showing us anything. All he's ever shown us is that most of the time when he outweighs his opponent by 15 pounds, he wins easily. However, anyone close to his size, they claim is too big...
Good post.
Can he become 8 division world champion?
Can he have millions of PPV watchers because of his invincibility?
I think no, by far. He is half-hype.
I really think that on the elite level he is average, but with good marketing and good country to born in.
If Bradley goes boxing mode like in the Marquez fight, he embarasses Rios of course. If not, its a good peoples fight.
I think he will "go Marquez mode" 80% of the fight, with some brawl here and there and take a ~10-2 very comfortable decision (with Bradley saying something like "it was Atlas who rejuvenated his game")
Froch: "because I look at the resumes"..."he wont be beaten throughout his career"
Well, he can't be too objective in this question since he got schooled by SOG.
But I agree with Froch, Ward wont be beaten, especially if he fights with this frequency and doesnt move up in weight.
However, if you want to talk about resumes, don't ever think Ward has a better resume in boxing than GGG, that's just ridiculous.
Rerun of Canelo vs Kirkland. GGG has been hit with power by Curtis Stevens and took it pretty well. Lemieux was hit by Rubio and ...well...hum...next question?...
To be fair with Lem he was hardly 23 years old by then. He was looking good in the fight previously, and the TKO he suffered had a lot to do with his exhaustion.
But anyway, I agree that his chances to even go the distance are very slim.
I would be surprised if really that would be the case.
I think GGG will accept a catchweight around 157 for that kind of money.
GGG is "too old" for a slow build up. He knows his body, but I think both of them would be okay with that weight.
I think Team GGG hopes Canelo will win the mega fight, because if Cotto exposes him, the fight is not so big anymore. And I think Cotto wont fight GGG, which I understand but sad about.
