i don't think floyd would grab manny like that. i can see manny actually reacting to it if he did, ortiz is a tree, remember...
Exactly, can't choke a tree.
Manny would knock Floyd out if he put his hands on his throat.
The fight wasn't shaping up too bad before the ridiculous ending. A rematch though is a joke.
That could have been a good night of boxing, but both fighters played a part in turning it into a joke. I'll never forgive those two for spoiling the high I was on after watching Morales turn back the clock.
man, how could Segal break Tysons neck- is that even physically possible. have you seen Tysons neck? he has a neck like an ox.
Tyson is a thick guy, I see Seagal going for the adam's apple or a possible cockpunch.
I liked Tsyzu but I think Floyd would've handled him like 9 rounds to 3.
I could see that. Tszyu isn't my number once choice to beat Floyd, but I think he had a good style for it(and he was in fine form when Floyd was at 140). Just one of those fights I wish happened.
I would have liked to see Floyd take on Tszyu when he passed through 140. I think that would have been an excellent matchup. Tszyu was at his best against slick boxers, his timing, accuracy and intelligence made him very dangerous in those kinds of fights.
All time, I like your picks. As pointed out, some were naturally a lot larger though
I wouldn't get a tattoo of a grown man that is not related to me. Its kinda of gay to even answer this question.
That is what I am thinking.
Not to knock fans who do that sort of thing, but I would be embarrassed to have a tattoo like that.
Kind of an odd time for this poll.
I wouldn't say he is there quite yet, but I think he is on his way. Coming off a crushing KO loss, I am hoping he still has his confidence. His next opponent is an excellent test for the Punisher's return, I hope he is back on track.
This topic is pretty fail.
The intention of characterizing a type of fighter you don't like is good enough for me, but do it correctly. Not all black fighters are slick, not all black fighters duck opponents, not all black fighters are hype jobs. You give poor examples and make too many incorrect generalizations.
Donaire's knockouts are just plain brutal. No one but him is putting out top level guys so viciously.
Pacquaio deserves consideration, he nearly one punch KOd Mosley. He almost always beats guys down over numerous rounds, but he has made a lot of world class guys quit or run for their lives in the ring.
Rios is proving to be a pretty devastating puncher.
Pacquaio actually is one of the most accurate punchers in boxing. Part of the reason is that he uses angles, the volume and of course his speed.
Floyd is extremely selective with his shots, so I think that would give him an overall edge in connect % against most top level guys.
Different ways to consider the topic, though. For example, I don't think Floyd could land as many clean shots on most opponents as Pac does no matter how aggressive he chose to be.
Floyd to me is an opportunist. He will take the best possible deal that will bring him the most money with least amount of risk. Is that a jab at him? Not from a business standpoint it isn't. He knows the business very well and doesn't put himself in situations he see can't benefit from and or will prevent him from making more money down the road.
Now, I'm not one of these people who goes around discrediting all of Floyd's opponents, but the arguments that are made for Pacquiao in relation to who he's fought can be done for Mayweather as well. The one constant that's always brought up is Floyd fighting the Lineal champion and or beating the #1 Welterweight, etc. All those are valid points. But if we start dissecting these wins like people willingly do with Pacquiao's last 4 years, you'll find things that fans who aren't biased for either would raise an eyebrow or two.
For instance, what makes Floyd's win over Mosley better than Cotto's victory 3 years prior? Because he was the Welterweight champion at the point Floyd beat him? Cotto fought him 9 months after Mosley's last fight while Floyd fought an older and inactive Mosley, and that ironically is his biggest win at Welterweight.
Like I said, I like both fighters, but I can make a case for the guys they've fought equally without being biased towards the fighter to make the win bigger than what it actually was. IMO, Floyd's victory over Mosley isn't any bigger than Pacquiao's win over Cotto.
Good post and I agree with your assessment.
you are either giving floyd way to much credit or ortiz way to little... Ortiz is a young hungry fighter, who happens to be a southpaw (something that has given floyd trouble in the past) and also happens to have single punch knockout power in both hands... to say he has "no chance" is ridiculous... I'm gonna have to say you probably hate floyd and are trying to discredit his opposition, am i right?
Exactly. Great post.
Ortiz has no chance
Floyd will win easily
I don't think you give Ortiz enough credit.
I'm not a fan of May, but if he EASILY handles Ortiz, I really will have no choice but to give him the utmost respect as a fighter. I couldn't have asked for Floyd to fight a better guy outside Pac.
Ortiz is coming to fight. This is why he is going to get beat up. He is still green enough to get caught by easy shots, and he is going to be overly aggressive which you just cant do against a guy like Floyd. His size may keep him in the fight, but he is going to lose a wide and clear UD. Nothing against Ortiz, I actually like the kid. But I look at the styles of the two fighters and I just dont see how Ortiz can win. He needs to hope that Floyd lost his legs over his layoff.
I disagree with your assessment. I think we've seen in fights with Castillo and Hatton that Floyd can be gotten to with a lot of pressure. Certainly much more so than the guys who sat outside and tried to box. Yeah Hatton got chewed up in the process, however Ortiz throws much more refined punches than Hatton(with a lot more speed and power). Not to mention Ortiz is a southpaw, and will be throwing at more problematic angles for Floyd. I don't think Ortiz is overly green either, he's a legit champion who has gone through some wars with top fighters.
