Sauerland will call off the fight at the last minute, then find the corpse of one of Zsolt Erdei's opponents for Braehmer to "defend" his "title" against
The guy who is "defending" in a bumfight against a slapping opponent who is 3-3 in his last six fights is criticizing somebody else's opposition. Effing rich
Effing hypocrite who has on many occasions maneuvered his own undeserving fighters into title bouts, in some cases cupcake fights for vacant alphabet trinkets.
Oh good, yet another effing Liam Smith story on boxingscene. Never has a paper beltholder who never fought anyone with a pulse before getting shelled gotten so many headlines on a web site. Smith is world class only at taking a beating and wouldn't beat anyone in the top 20-25 in the division. But he got his payday and boxingscene got its webhits from Brits, who know he's not even the best junior middleweight in the UK
Thanks for all the juvenile nationalistic comparing of dick sizes, but back to the fight. Bellew knows Flores has long been a fraud, and a relatively old one at that. Easy to talk tough when your promoters line you up to beat up an old cupcake who has no business in a "title" fight. Hopefully Bellew takes on someone legit next
Wouldn't mind if boxingscene gave us one day without a story about some inane comments from Bum Fighter Smith. I don't even particularly like Canelo but I am starting to hope he beats the ****e out of this guy
Somehow Gevor is already ranked #1 by the WBO even though he hasn't fought anyone. Don't know why he'd fight Huck for the IBF mandatory unless Sauerland figures he'd take less of a beating in a title fight with Gassiev than Usyk. Doubt he'll get by Huck
Would be nice for young guys like Horn to fight at least one opponent in the top 25 in their division before writers start talking about them fighting for major alphabetic titles, but the alphabet boys have given far worse fighters alphabet belt shots
LOL at Burns saying the fight was closer than the cards and Crawford got some advantage because of the Beltran fight. Two judges scored it 8-4 in rounds. Crawford outlanded him in 11 of 12 rounds and landed more power shots in 11 of 12. The 116-112 scores were generous to Burns.
No need for a rematch. And no way his promoters will send him to the US when he can make good money and have all the advantages of home in Scotland
Sturm used to get all the close calls at home (Macklin fight, for example). But he only got a draw vs Murray in a fight I thought he won and didn't get the decision against Soliman, another fight I thought he won. I think this one will end in a SD, but not sure who wins.
Sturm will never fight GGG because he fears anyone with an above average punch since he got KO'd by ancient junior middleweight Javier Castillejo in 2006. That's why he never fought Abraham when Abraham offered him a fortune a few years back
Can't see Cleverly fighting Ward if he gets by Jack. His opposition was mostly horrific before he got exposed by Kovalev the last time he had an alphabet belt.
Should be an easy fight for Afolabi. Ramirez has looked nothing special vs crappy competition since his comeback, and he was nothing better than a sturdy brawler at his best
Reveco's body punching is some of the best, and most underrated, in boxing. He's probably KO'd as many guys with liver shots as anybody in boxing.
You're right, Mexicans probably travel as much for big fights as anybody, along with Filipinos. Most Argentines also have to travel for title fights. Narvaez, who defended seven times overseas and Reveco, are probably the exceptions in that they got to fight a good bit at home. Sergio Martinez had to leave the country to make money and get a title shot and fought only once at home, against Murray after he was pretty well shot to hell.
Meanwhile, fighters in the US, Japan and Germany usually can fight all they want at home because they can make good money without traveling.
Talk of a "unification" fight with Abraham is weird since Groves doesn't have a title now and Abraham, at this point in his career, is the B- or C-level, second-tier belt holder that guys like Groves generally fight to get their first belt. Who else is he going to fight to get a belt, Bika? And if so, is Abraham much of a "step up?" Seems like he should just fight Abraham, because he could probably whip him now.
To be fair his loss to Narvaez is questionable because alot of people saw him win ( I scored it a draw) but he hasn't fought anybody like Santa Cruz.
This could be a very competitive fight.
Not sure a lot of people outside of PR thought Seda beat Narvaez, but it was very close (I had it 115-113 Narvaez, could have been 116-112, but Seda gave him a tough fight). Seda has the talent to win a lot of the belts at 118, but you're right, Santa Cruz is a fighter on a different scale and style (Narvaez more a slick boxer) than Seda's ever faced.
