It's been revealed that Roinet Caballero will be the likely next opponent for WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez. Roinet's agent, Eliecer Gálvez, told reporters that Jhonny's handlers contacted him to obtain a visa for a fight on Sept. 15 in Houston, Texas. Caballero was set to face Gonzalez on July 9 in Atlantic City, but he couldn't enter the country due to visa problems. He was later replaced by Tomas Villa, who Gonzalez knocked out in four rounds.
"We have been told to prepare [my boxer] for September 15, but we haven't signed anything yet," Galvez said.
Caballero has a record of 30-10-22 KOs and a draw, while Gonzalez has a record of 49-7-43 KOs.
Gonzalez just beat the weekend before his compatriot Tomas Villa by TKO in four "rounds" in Atlantic City in what was the first defense of his WBC featherweight crown.
