40-year-old former world champion Omar Narvaez returned to the ring earlier this month and won a ten round unanimous decision over Diego Pichardo. It was Narvaez's first fight since losing his WBO super flyweight world title with a second round knockout to Japanese sensation Naoya Inoue.
Narvaez won a WBO International world title in his return and was hoping to get a rematch with Inoue (8-0, 7KOs). The Japanese fighter has already announced his next fight, against Walter Parrenas, on December 29th.
Sources in Argentina are stating that Narvaez might turn his attention to newly crowned IBF champion McJoe Arroyo (17-0, 8KOs), who captured the belt in July with a victory over Arthur Villanueva.
Narvaez, unranked by the sanctioning body, would have to secure a position in the IBF's top fifteen to have a chance at making that fight happen.
The 29-year-old champion from Puerto Rico has yet to finalize his first defense of the belt.
