Acelino Freitas could have done much more. After he beat Casamayor I thought he would become a major star. He could box and could punch but I don't think Oscar Suarez was a good trainer for him. Freitas lost all his agressiveness with him.
I thought Julio Diaz was going to fight Katsidis.
Casamayor is clearly past his best but he was not doing that bad against Marquez. The fight was something between 5-5 and 7-3 for Marquez and Casa was winning the 11th before was knocked down.
Julio Diaz is nothing special but I don't know if Casa still has enough left to beat him.
Well I had it a draw.
While the KD wasn't really a big true KD it was scored.
Casamayor gave to many rounds early on.
That's right. Casa did a great effort in the 2nd half of the fight and finished stronger.
But it was too little too late for a fighter who gave away soo many early rounds, was knocked down and had a point deducted.
No way that is a draw. That point dedution/ K.D was bull.
How the hell did you think Casa beat Freitas ?
Casa gave away so many early rounds.
Freitas won clearly rounds 1, 2 and 3. Rounds 4 and 5 could easily have gone to him and most thought Freitas won them.
Casa turned the fight after the 5th but he didn't win every round after that. Freitas won clearly the 8th and arguably the 10th.
The KD was controversial but it was technicaly a KD. Freitas hit Casa with a punch and Casa went down.
And the point deduction was fair. Everyone knows Casa is a dirty fighter and used his dirty tricks (headbutts, holding, wrestling, punches after breaks) all night. He hit Freitas in the 6th with a punch after a clear break and was warned by the referee. A few seconds later he did the same thing and a point was deducted.
Not even Goosen, who was Casa's trainer complained and in the corner, he said: "Joel, you've gotta stop hitting him after the breaks".
I had 114-112 for Freitas, by the way. The best I could see for Casa is a draw.
Well I had it a draw.
While the KD wasn't really a big true KD it was scored.
Casamayor gave to many rounds early on.
That wasn't a K.D and the point deduction was bullshit, that punch didn't even hurt Acelino. Acelino played it off as soon as the ref looked his way. That was a clear victory for Casamayor.
You have gotta learn what a KD is and it doesn't matter if the punch hurted the fighter or not. The fact is that Casa threw and landed a punch after a clear break twice.
Casa needed to win eight rounds to get the decision since he didn't scored KDs or Freitas had points deducted and there is no way Casa won more than seven rounds.
Rooting for Oscar and I'm brazilian.
People forget that DLH was also a natural welter fighting bigger guys at higher divisions: Vargas, Castillejo, Sturm, Tito, Hopkins.
IMO, Oscar has nothing left to prove.
I think all latins should suport DLH !
I liked Zab's atitute there.
If the guy like to play dice games let him play. Those cheaters deserved the beating and Zab did land some good kicks and right hands. :boxing:
War Zab !
There is rumors that he scored a knockdown in that fight. They're both my boys, but it might be true.
Nope. I think you are talking about the Mora fight.
The first round was very close but Mora edged. Ishe clearly won rounds 2 and 3 but Mora came back in the fourth. The fight was 2-2 going to the fifth.
Mora was winning the fifth by a very close margin until 10 seconds to go but Ishe rocked Mora badly. Mora finished the round out on his feet and was carried by Jeremy Williams (the trainer) after the bell.
The judges had ridiculous scorecards (50-45 and 49-46 for Mora and 49-46 for Smith) and Mora edged it.
it was a split desicion 1st of all. and were you there? because there is not an unedited version of that fight available.
I wasn't there but I read this version of the fight on Alfonso Gomez website and in a Tommy Galagher article. Galagher also said that Mora wouldn't be able to fight another round in that night.
