Who is the biggest 'bust' in terms of prospects that could have been something. Not someone who just sucked, but people thought could be something. I mean, essentially, the biggest waste of talent. For talent or another. Go for it.

Acelino Freitas could have done much more. After he beat Casamayor I thought he would become a major star. He could box and could punch but I don't think Oscar Suarez was a good trainer for him. Freitas lost all his agressiveness with him.
The problem with Zab Judah that I have is when people say he could have been so much more.
I disagree. He is who he was meant to be. He isn't a focused indivisual and isn't professional in terms of preperation. Seems to generally have stamina problems. He is as good as he'll ever be and ever was gonna be.
People can argue that he he could have changed those things. Perhaps, but that's not the type of person/fighter he is. Plain and simple.
Malignaggi might have great if he had power like Tommy Hearns, but he doesn't and never will. Just like Judah might have been great if he had mental strength. But he doesn't, and never could have and never will.
THe one that comes to mind for me is Meldrick Taylor. If only he'd of been born in..... Florida or something. That Philly side wouldn't have been there and he'd have boxed his way to a COMPLETE victory over Chavez.
Damn, what he could have been.
Golata and Judah IMO. Both had the physical attributes to be the greatest of all-time in their respective divisions but they just didn't have it together mentally. what a fcuking waste.
joel julio!!
Yes Joel Julio is a great one. Watch out for him though he's still very young. I guarentee you when he fights Kirkland, they will be saying Kirkland is the young upcoming prospect, even though they're the same age. Julio unfortunately has run into a couple very good boxers that could take his punch. I wouldn't be surprised to seem him develop into an elite fighter still.
By the way Julio has already fought 36 pro fights and he's only 24 years old. Kirkland is the same age and has 24 fights.
it were talking about recent fighters it has to been Jeff Lacy.
He was meant to be the next Mike Tyson but was then exposed by Calzaghe and has never been the same since.
Tyson still did enuf to make the history books, but he fell way short of what he seemed capable of. Golota had mad skills, but somehow could never win the big one. It's a shame Augustus never became a superstar. He's got all the talent and charisma a star needs, but he's somehow just a journeyman wit a billion losses.
Zab Judah always comes to mind. I know he has had a decent career and won belts but with the talent this guy had he could have been an ATG IMO if only he had his head on straight and also put in the dedication! again not a bad career but he could have been much more!

VARGAS...
and he met trinidad. :nonono: what a waist of talent. blame his promotional company and his advisors.
We looking at anything that cut said career short? Salvador Shanchez comes to mind, he was great but his career was cut very short. Zab wasted a lot of talent, but he never really worked hard enough (imo). Charlie Burley was very talented but could not get a shot during the time. Floyd to a certain extent could have done more (but he sitll did a decent ammount). Aaron Pyror messed up his career, he is great but he could have possibly been a lot more.
