Thats why I gave examples of fighters who have been in the sport 7+ years and with multiple KO losses. I can't say what the ratio is but I would suspect that if a thorough study was performed that MMA fighters would have a lower percentage of accourences and severity.
I think it is just too early from a definitive opinion on MMA fighters. In the early days of MMA, the training camps were not like they are today. Back then going into a fight, alot the fighters were one dimensional fighters would only train whatever skill they excelled at. So, some grapplers did not even did not even experience any real pro level sparring while some strikers sparred way too much. This disparity in training regiments will either greatly increase or decrease a fighters chance of getting Dementia pugilistica. But in the future, It will easier to see if the disorder will easily develop in the current crop of fighters because they all follow a similar professionally developed training regiment.
In the upcoming years, Many MMA fighters will begin to show signs of Dementia pugilistica. Dementia pugilistica takes a while to develop, and the majority of MMA participants have not been in the sport long enough to develop it. In my opinion, the combination of brutal knockouts and the reckless sparring habits used by many MMA Fighters and camps like chute box will lead to a widespread outbreak of the disorder.
I'm not a fan of talking, but de la Hoya would destroy Cotto, he would take him to school like he did Tito. As for Mayweather IMO he already beat him, this time he will knock him out.
The only thing De La Hoya is going to destroy in the fight is the padding in Cotto's beloved 8oz gloves because those are the only things he can hit at this stage of his career.
The height/reach advantage most of his opponents would have probably would drastically reduce his chances of winning fights. If he did go to welterweight, I would love to see him matched up against Paul Williams. The stare down photo from the weigh ins would be funny because Paul Williams would like Valuev in it.
It doesnt work that way. If they buy HBO liscence all they will get is rights over venues and the hbo broadcast team. The reason Madden has all the players is because of their deal with the nfl players association. NOT the nfl itself. If they wanted to do it for boxing they would have to ink deals with Top rank or golden boy but they will lose their rights over the retired legends
I think the promoters only control a fighter promotional rights and can only use a fighter likeness to promote an upcoming fight.
when you win the UFC belt its like ayou're the top rank or golden boy world champion.ahahaha.
The UFC has the best MMA fighters. Even the newly formed MMA sanctioning body which was supposedly formed to find who the real champs are in MMA has a UFC or WEC fighter as the number one ranked fighter in 5 out 6 of the weight divisions. http://www.gowamma.com/rankings.asp
MMA is doing well but it nowhere near as popular most people think it is.
Here are articles are about the UFC.

The UFC has too many causal fans and that could cause the downfall of the company. The UFC couldn't even draw a good rating as compared to their other cards for the their most stacked card they ever put on free tv. http://www.mmapayout.com/2008/04/ufc-ratings-flash.html

I think the hatton fans will love this quote the big show used when complementing floyd skills. "...He uses his elbows to keep opponents off of him..."
If Cotto calls Floyd a bitch LIVE on HBO...The fihgt will be signed a couple days later wih Mayweather.
The Mayweather-Hatton fight was probably agreed to long before Hatton called out Floyd after the Castillo fight. Floyd's camp probably choose the exact phrase for Hatton to say. Together in the ring, Cotto and Mayweather Sr. could both call Floyd a ducking bitch and Floyd would still use the same excuses he has been using.
Most MMA fighters have no amateur experience whatsoever so no reasonable person should expect them to excel in boxing especially at the lower weight classes.
I actually had two different cards for the fight. The reason had two different card is because I did not want to give Calzaghe too much credit his weak punches. Calgazhe did win the fight on both of my cards but their was differnce in the scores. On the card which I scored Calzaghe as boxer who could actually throw a punch, I scored the fight 117-110 while my official card was 115-112.
The fact most people leave out of these rjj anderson silva threads is that silva is a southpaw. I cannot see an unproven southpaw having a remote chance at beating an elite orthodox fighter. My prediction Roy Jones by brutal KO not TKO in under 4 rounds.
People really should give some credit to Campbell for a well earned victory. The guy was ranked as the 5th best lightweight in the world by Ring magazine, so I knew it was always possible for him to win the belts. But, I don't think he will have the belts for long due the entrance of Manny Pacquiao into the lightweight division.
