Can Pac Man Go all the way to welterweight?

I think once he gets past diaz, which will be no walk in the park, he should go after nate c, campbell blows hot and cold, and i think manny will just be to fast and powerfull for him, then next up to lightwelter, i say he can beat feather fisted, malanaggi, and a finished ricky hatton, who got rocked 3 times by a blown up lightweight in his last fight . I think Juan Diaz, would cause him the most problems so i hope team pac man see that and stay away from him. If Manny can make it to welter and challenge for a title he has got to go down as a all time great, there hasnt been many 5 foot 6, former flyweight champions doing that. Possible match ups a welter, well i hope by this time Cotto, and Tony margartio, are both up up at light middle, Team pac man should go after judah if!!! he is Ibf champion, cos i think pac man knocks him out all day pac is too small for welterweight... imagine pac v. margarito... /thread

can is too small for the welterweights. I can see him on jr. welter but not 147. Just because he came in close to 147 for the Diaz fight doesn't mean a thing. Williams came in at 168 for the first quintana fight...Would u imagine Pacman vs Margo??? that would be suicide

ha ha ha whatever works. i don't think manny is bigger than steve. plus steve has a lot better defense imo than manny. if he can't compete at the highest level at welter then what's the point? it'll be like watching jordan play in the cba or montana in the xfl. i say stay at 135 and fight guzman , valero , marquez , casa , diaz , diaz , diaz and then hatton at 140. unless it's for mega bucks against a mega star no need to go to 140 or 147 where he'd be medioce imo. Well im simply saying it remains to be seen. He would definitely be competitive at welter but who knows what'll happen between then and now. He might lose badly against Diaz and not even be fit for lightweight. He might develop incredible boxing skills and/or enough mass on himself to be a dominant welter in 2yrs time. Im just saying the possibility of it happening are more likely than it NOT happening so dont count him out just yet because he has already proven himself a modern day duran

Manny could fight at welter, just not yet. He's only 29 and comes to fights at 147 anyways (usually these weakened him) I say after he fights a good portion of tough lightweights he could possibly move up, nobody would look down on him if he lost.

I agree, there's too much pressure these days for fighters to move up weight classes every six months. I don't understand why people don't want to see fighters at their best weight. If Marvin Hagler were fighting today, people would probably want to see him fight the Klitchkos.

Real talk though Steve Forbes was able to compete at juniormiddle at a high level and he aint that slick. Manny is actually bigger than him so I dont see why he wouldnt be competitive at welter. It would be ridiculous, I don't care if he comes into fights at 145 right now. So what? Most welterweights right now are weight-drained middleweights, he would be in serious danger. Judah and Mayweather are smaller welters but at least have the speed and elusiveness to stay safe against these huge guys; Pacquiao would have no way of defending himself against a Cotto or Margarito.

Unless Pacquiao can find some rare coins to put in the ring, we're gonna have to call this fight "The Slaughter in the Water" seeing as every country would refuse to sanction this potential manslaughter case. agreed. tough for manny to fight someone much bigger and much stronger. especially considering TYE has the slight speed advantage as well.

If he ends up fighting at WW, he's gonna end up fighting guys who come into the ring at over 160. With his style, it ain't gonna translate well.

The height/reach advantage most of his opponents would have probably would drastically reduce his chances of winning fights. If he did go to welterweight, I would love to see him matched up against Paul Williams. The stare down photo from the weigh ins would be funny because Paul Williams would like Valuev in it.

it's not no faith. more like realistic. if he was a slick boxer like say roy or floyd i have no problem with it. but manny is a slugger and he's gonna get hit. you never know when that one fight ruins a guy. look at meldrick in his "win" against julio. skills can always overcome size but when the skills are equal or close size more than likely wins out. what makes manny special? his punching power and his speed. at 147 the speed is lessened and his punching power will not be there. he's just gonna get beat up. look at what happened to alexis when he went up to meet pryor. alexis is bigger and much better skilled than manny. if he was a slick boxer it's possible he can pull out a decisions but as a slugger type he's too small. ricky is way bigger than manny and we all know he's too small for 147.
