Based on how Boxing is supposed to be scored, Did Joe really win the fight? Bernard clearly landed the "Clean and Effective" punches. Even in amatuer boxing, punches only count if they land with the white part of the glove, thus forcing fighters to throw cleaner punches as opposed to slaps or backhands. Also, the force of the punch or if the punch is correctly turned over, should be taken into account. The following are the criteria which are used to score rounds under the ABC rules.
1. Clean and effective punching (first and most important criteria)
The following are used if the winner of a round cannot be deterimed after using the above criteria:
2. Effective aggressiveness (while creating opportunities to score and land punches)
3. Ring Generalship (controlling the ring, cutting off the ring)
4. Defense (self explanitory)
Watch the fight again, and score each round based on the above criteria, keeping in mind, Clean and Effective Punching.

HaHA.. Here's the news coverage from Welsh TV.
Check out the highlights of Calzaghe in the middle of the video. :lol1:
NOTHING IS LANDING. Hilarious shit..
"..Hopkins put on a master class.." - BBC Wales
Are Hopkins fans blind? How they say that Hopkins landed the cleaner shots? well it could be if your head is part of your fists, or if faking 2 low blows is part of your ring generalships. Joe didn't won pretty but he won clearly!
116-111 Calzaghe
Hopkins did land clean shots, but the simple fact is he didn't land enough of them, and he couldn't take advantage of the knock down in the first round because his negative tactics allowed Calzaghe back into the fight.
Hopkins used every trick in the book... He used his head, clinched at every opportunity, and played for time... Calzaghe was the aggressor, forced the fight and deserved a unanimous (rather than split) decision IMO.
Yes Calzaghe did land a low blow, but i won't criticise Hopkins for taking advantage of the situation. The low blow was no way near forcefull enough to warrant a five minute breather, but Hopkins used his nouse and got himself a breather, and at 43 years of age who can blame him for that? He went on to win that round IMO, but that was one of only three rounds that i think he won.
I gottta pretty good idea who you are..
Regardless, every post from you is a Calzaghe cumshake. You drink it.Wow! Truth hurts, doesn't it? You've been on Hopkins' balls for how long now? Let me see. You can't boxing so you have to resort to name-calling. How old are you kid?
That's the reason they are not judges. They can't score fights. Hopkins lost, get over it. If hugging win fights, then yeah Hopkins won by UD.

And we got you checking in on the scores? :lol1:
Sorry nationalist fanboy, but I'll take the word of the majority of the media seated ringside and the Associated Press. They ALL scored it in favor of Bernard Hopkins. Not that I needed confirmation..That's the reason they are not judges. They can't score fights. Hopkins lost, get over it. If hugging win fights, then yeah Hopkins won by UD.
Anyone who gave Hopkins more than 4 rounds in that fight is insane or bias. Anyone arguing it is just plain retarded.
Now there's the truth of it. I can understand people (in the heat of the moment) being upset to see their man lose, perhaps they bet a lot of money of feel humiliated because they had been talking him up or whatever... but to carry on whining 24 hours later is just pitiful.
Who ever says that Hopkins aint land enough of clean punches, please tell me how Calzaghe landed more?
Those were all misses. Saying he didn't do enough is stupid cause in my book Hopkins did more. Boxing is not about throwing and missing, but by the way scoring goes now, you throw more and miss and you still win.
holding all night and going down from phantom punches to catch a rest doesnt win fights,,,with all the talking hopkins was doing before the fight he ended up fighting like a sissy. he should retire. he's so boring to watch its pathetic. his best punch is his head
Calzagirl didn't impress anyone besides toothless brits.
EDon't tell me Hopkins impressed you with his running and hugging. Joe came to fight and won the fight. Hopkins knew it's impossible for him to win so he tried 2x to convince Cortez to penalize Calzaghe for lowblows, but Cortez aint stupid. He knew Hopkins was just acting. Joe made Hopkins his bitch Saturday night.
EXACTLY. Using these rules, BHOP won an easy to score UD.
It was an HBO con job.
hopkins didnt do enough to win the fight. I dont even think it was that close
Harold Lederman also scored it decisively for Calzaghe. But, if I was "nationalistic", I would have given the fight to Hopkins regardless of whether or not he actually won or not. Oh....sorry....that's what you're doing. So who is the "nationalistic fanboy" here? LOL
Harold Lederman?? :lol1: :lol1: That's how we KNOW Hopkins won.
And if I'm nationalist then why did I pick Hatton?? :owned:

Not true. If that were the case, De La Hoya would've beat Mayweather, yet I gave PBF 9 rounds in that fight, as did many others. Most experts gave Floyd 8 rounds, even with DLH throwing more and missing like a maniac.
Look at the Compubox numbers. I've never been one to say that a fight's outcome could be determined by the Compubox numbers, but when one guy is given credit for landing nearly twice as many as the other guy, it's pretty convincing (127 by Hop, 232 by Joe).
Hang on, apart from the KD, Hopkins ran backwards for 12 rounds, clinched any time Calzaghe got close and disgracefully feigned injury on more than one occasion. There is no way he won that fight. At best he may have won two rounds, admittedly one of those was 8-10.

i think we can all agree joe........................................................................................................

I watched the re-play 3 times. What amazes is the quickness of some of Calzaghe's shots, especially when he's moving in and out of range. Just a flick and sweat flies from Hopkins' head. Calzaghe really is amazing with his hand speed.
