I went to this place where they charge to watch the fights. Usually it was just boxing but now they had boxing and UFC on. Well this place has tons of screens inside. Usually you could here the announcers on the speakers, but since UFC was on, boxing was only playing on two screens with no sound while UFC was playing in the rest. All you here was UFC commentators and people screaming while they were watching UFC fights. What makes it worst is the boring fight from last night and the more than weak undercard. As soon as they announced the decision the two screens that had boxing changed to the UFC fights. What is hurting boxing is these weak fights and the undercards. I would have rather paid for last weeks Marg and Cotto doubleheader than this bullshit they put together to make money.
UFC has ruined mma, i hardly watch that shit anymore. Pride was much better than the ufc they had better fighters and better style match ups. It was a real life streetfighter and it was entertaining. But now the UFC is just the same shit every single show unskilled striking, exept for Anderson Sylva, and Iowa farmboys clubbing each other on the ground. It just getting old for me.
I'd say that covers it.
Can't argue with that. Pride was the shit back then. I don't think UFC ruined MMA because they have some good fighters but Dana White is hurting it in a way. He isn't a professional businessman and doesn't handle situations well in most cases

This post is hugely ironic from the dumbest poster on here.
Face it bud, your posts have no relevance at all. You just taking up space on here. Next...
Again, your critism is weak just like your knowledge for MMA. Thanks for the 1 star rating, it really got your message across. Your a retard who has nothing better to do then to get on people nuts. Stop posting garbage that has no relevance to this topic for once be a man and make some facts or points useful. You should get banned for being this mentally retard. You should use your brain when your posting, it helps with collecting your thoughts together. Post something that people here can use, not just senseless crap that is strung together to gain some points off posts

Correction I said you don't iknow what you're talking about and it's obvious you still don't. You're a moron who knows nothing of MMA or Muay Thai. Compare notes when you feel you have the knowledge or courage. You don't.

I haven't answered to that because you only started posting something decent. Everything else you were posting was just bashing people who were posting something that was relevant to the topic. I didn't start this bud, you did. You said no one knows anything about MMA and that I don't know and have never seen Muay Thai in my life. What you expect me to do, you don't know me and I don't know you. Your basing your opinion on my Muay Thai understanding from my posts. I would think someone with that much Muay Thai or even MMA knowledge like youself wouldn't start of posts by bashing people but would state points and facts to prove your claim

Elite Satillites can put on great cards, but EliteXC itself can't book short stories.
As long as Gary Shaw and his spawn are in EXC, their cards are going to be nothing short of crap.
UFC needs to worry about EliteXC, there last few fights have been great compared to UFC and they just got the CBS deal. Is Spike TV still on, they used to be UFC's home network.
I watched Hopkins v Calzaghe, but I am fan of both sports. I would have watched the UFC fight if it wasn't PPV and in High Def. St Pierre is one of my favorites.
sheeet i couldnt read ALL of this thread, enjoyed what i did read tho!
i had to stop reading at this bit haha..
"many tattoo-ed up guys literally banging each other"
you :owned: that donkey.
Thanks man, that guy is a clown. Atleast if your going to tell me I'm wrong you would quote me and pick out my points and state how they are false. He hasn't done that since the first post he posted. He gives me a one rating because he can't handle what I'm saying to him. People here need to stop being defensive. Boxing is a great sport and again I prefer it more then MMA but MMA is on the rise and people need to realize that instead of hiding in a hole waiting for it to die down
I guess this means you've declined my invitation to compare notes a second time.

The fight was hyped to death then GSP layed on Serra most the fight then he knee's him a few times(yes they must have been painfull) and he does a verbal tap.
It was like Delahoya vs Hopkins in the sense it was very anticlimactic unless your a GSP fan and didn't care how he won but that he got the win.
I don't see as much similar to the DLH and Hopkins match. Hopkins wasn't handling DLH the way GSP was handling Serra. In the DLH fight it was close up to the 9th round with Hopkins winning by two rounds. However Serra never came close to GSP. Hopkins got a nice body shot and put him down. GSP was very controlling and did what he wanted to do with Serra. He got nice combinations on the ground. He got a nice superman punch on his feet that probobly hurt Serra. He got take downs numberous takedowns. He was taking control of him in every way. Maybe you think it would be more exciting if Serra were to answer to any of those shots, and I would agree with that. What was GSP to do, it wasn't the best finish and I would rather see them trade shots but that wasn't the strategy GSP came in with thats why he went for the takedown 3 seconds into it. He had respect for Serra's stand up game. I don't think it was anywhere near anticlimactic as Kalib Starned and Nate Quarry. I do care how he got the win and again I would rather of him win in another fasion, but am I going to go against him and say it was the worst fight ever? No because Serra should've done more and played his part in trying to match skills with GSP and he couldn't

If you go to a place where "young people hang out" you will see more MMA fans, because that's their core fan base. Boxing's fan base is much wider, and I suspect (someone correct me if I'm wrong), stronger on an international level.
How credible is this Meltzer guy.
Very credible. He's covered MMA since '88.
fuck UFC is my personal opinion, i hate it....anybody can throw a kick or slam somebody but it will ALWAYS take a lifetime to be able to master the art of Boxing...thats why im a boxer and i love boxing, i don't like UFC
Perfecting a middle or high kick is just like perfecting a cross or an uppercut. You really have to work on speed and accuracy for them to be effective. Slams are more tricky. Yes, it uses a considerate amount of power, but you have to have balance as well. Slamming a guy on the ground is one thing. Making sure you still have dominate position after that without falling over is another.
Dave Meltzer has a newsletter called "Wrestling Observer" he usually gets the PPV numbers from his sources. He also writes for Yahoo/MMA section he's pretty reliable.
MMA and Rasslin might be in competition
Just pointing out that while UFC recognizes they're drawing Sports Entertainment fans, they feel that they're "sharing" the fanbase while WWE, in some absurd way, sees it as competition.
I only like Kimbo...no one else.
Missing out on a lot of great fighters. Kimbo's hype machine needs to be turned down. Gary Shaw's Afflictionfag-ism florishes everytime he promotes Kimbo.
yea but you atleast gotta admit the majority of the fans are dumb college meatheads, who dont even really appreciate the sport. ateast from what I've seen first hand at the bars and parties and shit.
many ufc fans are people who just want to see a fight. Have no real knowledge and respect for the science of boxing..
I got to part ways here a bit. Yeah, you do have a good amount of Afflictionfags and TAPASSES with there hooches watching at the bars, but you also got police, military, people who participate or are fans of college wrestling or college martial arts and overall fans of the grappling scene who get to see guys like Damian Maia or Ricardo Almaeda show their skills on a recognized professional level.
Ufc is trash...If you like a bunch of wrestling and ball and ass grabbing then i guess its for you. Other then Kimbo Slice i wouldnt be caught dead paying for it..
This coming from a guy whose avatar swindled a fighter and endangered his life just to have a boxing match in a cage.
Lets make this real easy. Ufc is big because white dudes have a sport they can call their own and identify with. Not too many white dudes(American) making an impact in boxing except the Ghost Pavlik. The UFc has primarily white guys fightin so they can relate.
It is the sport where white guys are the draw for the most part as opposed to boxing where the draw is black, mex/pr or philip.
I think it's more cultural then racial. Farming communities have a long standing tradition with grappling just as long as urban communities have with striking. If people keep an open mind as this sport progresses, I think we'll see a more diverse fight community sooner or later.
i have watched ufc before but people make it out to be such a hard sport and i dont see it that way, a lot of UFC fighters were in pro boxing before and when u look them up their records were bad and had no accomplishments...in other words im trying to say its harder to throw a sharp triple jab right-hand then a hook down and upstairs then trying grab someone and and throw them on the ground and put a submission on them.....ofcourse to the person that doesn't know both sports they would sometimes pick UFC because its more like a common thing mostly two guys going all out when in boxing it's a discipline sport....i choose boxing all day
Trust me. Throwing a guy and then trasitioning into and armbar is HARD!! You got to make sure you control your opponent so as he doesn't move then you got to give just enough momentum with the body so as to get the guy down but to also advance your position in order to create a fast and fluid transition so as your opponent can't counter you in any way and then add the right amount of leverage to the arm in order for your opponent to feel pain and to keep the arm from breaking.
In boxing you need just one tool. Grappling and MMA needs a toolbox.
Here's a good question.
What are you guys reaction going to be when Golden Boy starts getting into the MMA game?
This is where I'm confused. How was the GSP and Serra fight stoppage a weak one. Wouldn't you think Serra would complain if it was. I mean he does have one of the biggest mouths in the UFC. It wasn't a bad stoppage. The rest I agree with but the internet part it true but I was watching UFC way before it got big on the net. Later on it becomes a helpful tool to keep track of fights and rumors

Finally something decent. Not that useful but a good start. It's true that the web has helped out in many ways with UFC but then again what better way is there to get your message across to millions of people
It was weak because the only defense Serra could manage was modified fetal position on the floor. Basically because Serra had no offense to speak of.
