I mean obviously paying fighters individual isnt working. My question is why dont they do what other sports developers do and just pay one big organization/company to get all the fighters they want for a game.
Heres an example..
EA just pays for a NBA license and NFL license to get everything associated with teams be it players coaches logos etc.
If EA just payed HBO and Showtime ex amount of money to use the fighters associated with there companies then 1. They will come away spending less money 2 We the fans would get more boxers etc for games instead of shitty 20-30 boxer roster games.
yeah thats what i though to but wasnt too sure. You guys are right. But in reality its shouldnt be to expensive because most of the greats are either past the prime or retired, which means they arent too money hungry and big head to take an offer from EA. One reason tyson is in the game, because tyson isnt asking a ridicuolous amount of money to get put in the game and could probable care less about making anymore money off boxing.
I think the promoters only control a fighter promotional rights and can only use a fighter likeness to promote an upcoming fight.
You're right. But a deal can definitely be made with a promotion company to the effect of they pay us we pay you for cooperating type of thing. If they do it however they will only be able to put active boxers from that stable in the game. And last time i checked it was pretty universal that people would much rather play as sugar ray leonard than abner mares. And as Frazier or Ali rather than Monte Barett
It doesnt work that way. If they buy HBO liscence all they will get is rights over venues and the hbo broadcast team. The reason Madden has all the players is because of their deal with the nfl players association. NOT the nfl itself. If they wanted to do it for boxing they would have to ink deals with Top rank or golden boy but they will lose their rights over the retired legends

That would work more for promoters. After this weekend Edison Miranda will have been on HBO, Showtime, and ESPN in the past 18ish months. Showtime Championship Boxing for Nintendo DS had NO actual boxers. If they instead did a deal with Top Rank, Golden Boy, Don King, etc. that may have some promise.
yeah that would be a good idea too. Just pay those 3 ex amount of money
