Tonight is my first time watching dazn. Biggest issue is the commentary and ringside people. Gotta upgrade
We all like to make fun of Lamps but there was a big fight feel when he was on the mic
That's what boxing will miss without HBO.
If felt big-time.
This DAZN thing feels niche and hacky.
Yeah am not blaming him for the fights not coming off, it takes two to tango. If they want to hold him to ransom then he need to keep it moving. Keep fighting your mandatories and give them the split that the organisations mandated. Once they have all up their profiles then they can share the split how they want it.
If the A-side wants a fight, then it gets done. Period.
Joshua/Hearn are totally to blame for this situation.
Agreed to before the Jacob's fight right? Before there were any Canelo talks right?
So what?
He dropped the lesser opponent for less money to make the biggest fight in boxing.
If he had turned down Canelo people would have called it a duck. In fact, you would have called it a duck.
What kind of soccer do they got on there? EPL, La Liga, and Serie A?
Or MLS?
ESPN has rights to the English Championship (which is the second division) as well as every MLS match and the USL (American second division).
Super fly is their saving grace. Everything else has been mediocre. At least we get to see kovalev and bivol fight bums instead of each other doe right
Best cards so far this year:
1) ESPN
2) HBO
3) Showtime
People love Showtime for whatever reason but their cards and their production are not very good.
I don’t understand how Nelson hasn’t been fired he’s done a absolute terrible job
They were the premium boxing outlet for decades and in a matter of 1 year they fell off a cliff it’s been 3 years since PBC and is their now 3rd string at best now behind PBC / Showtime and Espn after TR went to Espn. They put on maybe 4-5 decent fights a year being generous and that’s including PPVs
They now have 2 stars ( Canelo & Gennady ) both are PPV fighters . 1 name who is known to hardcores ( Kovalev ) and 3-4 fighters who hold any type of weight among hardcore boxing fans ( Bivol, Jacobs , Rungsai and maybe Estrada
They have 1 division on lock which is MW and skin in the game in 2 other divisions Superfly and LHW
And things will continue to get worse
If the rumors are true and they get Joshua in the Summer, HBO will have the three biggest names in boxing (Canelo, GGG and Joshua).
Yeah, they're really in the tank.
I used to take these kind of posts seriously but now they just seem like anti-HBO whining.
There hasn't been a better card than Superfly II on any network so far this year.
Production? We only care what the fighters do in the ring. Wilder with clumsy self made the Ortiz fight interesting.
It's an entertainment product. The production matters. And for all the obvious HBO haters (and there are a lot) Lampley, Kellerman and Jones are the best in the business.
And I thought the fight yesterday was interesting. Two big punchers, one was a bloody mess, and a thunderous knockout.
Imagine if Spence struggled vs Algieri then everybody saying Spence was washed up getting old.
That's what happened with GGG. He takes his VERY FIRST step up in competition in his ENTIRE career (Jacobs) and OVERNIGHT the mofo is old, washed up and his minions say "he only has a few years left" how does that happen?
The same mofos that LOVED mandatories all of the sudden don't love them no more? what changed?
Now asking him to fight mandos is considered hating. The mandos have a pulse now. Is that the problem?
The way Lil g and his minions OBSESS over Canelo you would think Nelo is the modern Sugar Ray Robinson! They're convinced a clear official win over Nelo makes Lil g an all time great and #1 Pound For Pound.
Any victory or loss vs Canelo is tainted because Nelo is now a tainted athlete.
A clear decisive victory over Jacobs or Charlo does more for GGG. Those fights are more intriguing than facing Canelo.
He is NOT washed up. Stop spreading propaganda. His level of competition increased that's all that happened. Now they're talking retirement and cash out fights. Shameful.
You Lil g flunkies need to respect box, this no good for box. Respect sport. Bring him I show you. Let's bring Charlo, show us. Respect much box.
Simple.
The best competition wouldn't fight him until he got old.
Notice how from years 30 to 24 nobody would fight him and then all of the sudden when Canelo gets suspended everybody is throwing their name into the ring as a potential replacement.
Dan might be fat, but he's usually in the right imo.
True.
Spike looks silly in all this. He's a last-minute tomato can replacement that's offered 400k and he turns it down? After having politicked so hard for it on Twitter?
I must be losing it then i honestly didn't see that way and i don't think ill watch it again but i am in a wired state i only slept 3 hours for the past 2 days and 0 hours today.
Jacobs out-landed Sulecki significantly and put him down in the 12th round.
How the hell is that a Sulecki robbery?
Why is it hard to acknowledge it was a close fight? and some people may have given it to sulecki?
It's not hard. I never said it wasn't close.
It's just the idiots on this forum who think Sulecki won 8-4.
That's absolute nonsense.
Jacobs landed 40 more punches, was 10% more accurate and dropped Sulecki.
Under no circumstance did Sulecki win.
Sulecki-Jacobs was a very close bout and they made it seem like DJ cruised to a wide clear UD.
Two of the actual scorecards were pretty clear decisions, though.
So they made it seem like he cruised to a clear UD when he actually cruised to a clear UD.
Crazy, huh?
But let's whine about HBO because you have a weird bias against them.
degale fights in april
brook/golovkin took place in september...
degale doesnt fight again until jan 2017
why wasnt degale ever offered or asked about by loeffler? LOLOLOL
What does DeGale have to do with anything?
This is what conspiracy theorist cranks do. They make up potential opponents that were "available" and then ask rhetorical questions about why he wasn't "considered" for the fight.
Of course we don't know if he was or wasn't. It just a ploy on your behalf to muddy the waters on something that is pretty clear.
they took brook cause that was the fight they wanted....big money and NO risk whatsover....thats how they operate
Or Eddie Hearn offered it to Brook because of the very same reason.
No risk for his guy, who was expected to lose, and a big payday.
GGG just wanted to fight the best possible opponent who would get into the ring.
An undefeated, and popular, Welterweight champion was the best option available.
i didnt make the theory up...its been floating around since the inception of that fight
So you didn't make it up. You just perpetuated it.
Gotcha.
Because we all know that if something exists on the internet then it must be true.
lol@you...im not making anything up...its all here
i can find you the quote
https://www.boxingscene.com/loeffler-confirms-golovkin-fought-degale-168--107066
im not making anything up you little mutt
I can post articles and video showing that Eubank was targeted and turned down the fight.
But then you'll just say it's a lie and a ploy.
So evidence doesn't seem to matter at all to you.
fat dan said "they want nothing to do with andrade".....now he didnt state why.....did he mean that andrade is too greedy and too hard to deal with? or that they just have no interest in his style and what kind of fight he makes for?
He did state why you just don't seem to read much about things that you comment.
He mentioned:
1) southpaw on short notice
2) doesn't bring any fans/money
so higher risk on short notice than reward.
Not hard to understand.
ahhhh typical chris
doesnt like what he hears...plays the "you dont know hearn or talk to him" card like a pansy
Says the guy who just dismisses fact-based claims as ploys when he doesn't like them.
We are supposed to believe whatever he says but when evidence is posted to support the truth he makes up conspiracies to dismiss it.
Comical.
Why can't GGG build his legacy WITHOUT Canelo?
I don't know why I'm still amazed at the ridiculous things that people say on this forum.
GGG was an obscure boxer from Kazakhstan who couldn't get anybody in his weight class to fight him until his mid-30s and yet we still have people asking why he's so insistent on getting a big payday.
Well as a promoter he was probably even more inclined to get Brook his fights since Brook is a bigger name too.
GGG was staying at 160. I don't see how DeGale was a viable opponent. I didn't sit in on the meetings like you though.
Yeah, I love how he makes up stuff that Loeffler or Hearn said.
Classic.
