Imagine if Spence struggled vs Algieri then everybody saying Spence was washed up getting old.
That's what happened with GGG. He takes his VERY FIRST step up in competition in his ENTIRE career (Jacobs) and OVERNIGHT the mofo is old, washed up and his minions say "he only has a few years left" how does that happen?
The same mofos that LOVED mandatories all of the sudden don't love them no more? what changed?
Now asking him to fight mandos is considered hating. The mandos have a pulse now. Is that the problem?
The way Lil g and his minions OBSESS over Canelo you would think Nelo is the modern Sugar Ray Robinson! They're convinced a clear official win over Nelo makes Lil g an all time great and #1 Pound For Pound.
Any victory or loss vs Canelo is tainted because Nelo is now a tainted athlete.
A clear decisive victory over Jacobs or Charlo does more for GGG. Those fights are more intriguing than facing Canelo.
He is NOT washed up. Stop spreading propaganda. His level of competition increased that's all that happened. Now they're talking retirement and cash out fights. Shameful.
You Lil g flunkies need to respect box, this no good for box. Respect sport. Bring him I show you. Let's bring Charlo, show us. Respect much box.
since 2014 his competition has been about 75% populated by stiffer (ie. top, not deader) opposition. Thats why hes struggled. Its title boxing not a dance off.
Because his competition started getting stiffer as he got older?
Providing you accept the premise that fighters tend to decline with age past a certain point, then you can interpret that correlation in a number of different ways and make a decent case for any of them, but sadly, indisputably prove none.
And his fans kept on getting stiffer more them
Imagine if Spence struggled vs Algieri x.
this is not really the same, Algieri is a spirited competent boxer but hes not a good conetender like Jacobs or an elite like canelo.
However its true that on facing top contenders, 3G has not been a KO artist. Hes no Rocky Marciano for sure.
No that's not it at all. It wasn't just that the competition was better but that his movement wasn't as crisp in his last 2 fights. Maybe he was tight in the Canelo fight or maybe he just didn't have a good camp/had too much of a layoff.
He didn't look like he'd lost anything yesterday.
agree with all that for the most part. However these days, fighters overall are able to continue into the late 30s more than they could 20+ years ago. Ali and SRL were shot in their mid 30s. Now days you have more fighters in their mid and late 30s into early 40s that are at the top. You had Bhop, floyd, pac, JMM, adonis, wlad, vitali, tarver. A lot of guys going past 35 into late 30s and even early 40s who are amongst the top of their division.
Agree with you 100 %
And modern science , training and nutrition has extended all those great fighters careers to their mid to late 30s when the previous generations fighters that age were almost always shot
But even the fighters you mentioned Traver didn’t do sh.it past 35 as far as notable Ws( Thanks Boxrec ) Manny hasn’t been the same dominant fighter going 3w-5L and getting brutally KO’d without himself scoring any KOs during that time frame
Marquez is suspected of using PEDs during his last part of his career and B-hop and Mayweather besides being freaks of nature and completely dedicated to their craft switched up their style as they aged to avoid punishment
As far as Adonis goes I think his age is part of the reason he’s hasn’t really pushed for the big threat fights because he around 35 when he beat Dawson so that’s probably part of the reason he hasn’t chased the biggest threats just to keep the $ coming for as long as possible ( even though I don’t think his run is as bad as people make it out to be especially with the resurgence of Bellew and upcoming Jack fight )
None of those I would say are pressure fighters like Gennady which tend to become less effective earlier in their careers. and don’t think at this point in his career Gennady could adopt another style. He really only has 1 way to fight. In some ways it’s even more impressive that’s given Gennadys age and style in the last year he fought and beat ( we know the Canelo fight wasn’t a draw ) the 2 best fighters in his division who were younger and in their primes . But time will catch up to him like it does every athlete especially with his style so if he stays around for the next couple years he’ll be prime for the picking for these young guys ( Canelo , Charlo , Saunders ) to beat him
Imagine if Spence struggled vs Algieri then everybody saying Spence was washed up getting old.

I liked your post. Until you got to the part about GGG not needing Canelo. I like them both, and at this point they need each other more than ever.
Excluding HWs who can hang in there longer How many boxers in the history of the sport where near the top level at 36 years old ?
How many of the limited few werent pure boxers and regarded as pressure fighters ?
You can probably count on 1 hand boxers that were still elite at Gennadys age that had his style
36 is ancient for boxers. I don’t think it’s a crazy thing to say Gennadys getting old and not at his best
It’s also not a coincidence that as he ages other top end boxers are willing to fight him.
So factor in his age and increase in competition level and his fights are going to be more competitive when he fights the best in the division and if he stays around long enough 1 of the young guys will probably beat him
That’s the sport young guys beating down old champs

Because an athlete's physical prime is probably never going/usually isn't ever at 36 years of age? Look at sprinters, endurance runners, Olympic lifters, and so forth--- and tell me their peak performances don't deteriorate with age.
Speed, strength, endurance--- everything gets affected. I can't imagine his chin/brain is impervious to the years and years of boxing he has done, as well.
Or, look at boxers in general. I shouldn't have to point out the decline every elite boxer has faced throughout the aging process...

Comparing a 26 year old to a 36 year old ha. But yah totally. GGG is 36. He's just getting started. In fact he's not even in his prime yet. When he turns 40, he'll be in his prime.
Now GGG obliterates Vanes and guess what.. "The monster is back". Lol.
He is not washed up, slipping or old. Cut that dumb sht out. You line up 20 opponents on the same tier as Vanes and he knocks them all out.
Hopefully I never hear this guy is washed again. That's a pathetic attempt to not give credit if he were to lose.
Vanes was fucked before he ever stepped between the ropes. Everyone bar one or two outliers who were rightly ridiculed said so. How is he any yardstick to tell us whether GGG has slipped or not? If anything the consistent thing to do is to ridicule those few saying 'The monster is back', not to draw any conclusion at all about Golovkin's possible slippage.
Golovkin is past his best. Unfortunately, he didn’t get a chance to fight top opponents until he was past his best. You could argue that he should’ve moved up, but he was well within his rights to hold on to the belts and wait (like Hopkins did).
So the truth lies somewhere in between. His legacy takes a hit though. He doesn’t have any real standout win. Jacobs? That’s not very impressive legacy wise and it wasn’t that decisive either. So what’s his best win? Martin Murray? Yeah, old or not, Golovkin is going to have to do more to close out his career.
Before Gennady fought Jacobs and Canelo- triple duck needs to fight a name opponent before he gets old, he’s already 32.
After canelo cancels rematch-why did the ggg is old talk coincide with his step up in competition
Now GGG obliterates Vanes and guess what.. "The monster is back". Lol.

Yep. These clowns have no shame.

Pretty obvious that as Golovkin got older fighters became less afraid of him. It wasn't so very long ago that fighters like Saunders wouldn't fight Golovkin because they did not think they could beat him.
Jacobs is a step up? Or it's the other way around? Took 2 years to convince Jacobs to fight GGG. His best win was Quillin, the guy who managed to duck GGG for years as well.
These GGG-hating mofos talk as if negotiations are a walk in the park. They're like kids with unreasonable demands. Man, these are adults probably in their fifties.
