Yeah OK, let's get Canelo outta the discussion.
Khan is hilarious. He takes himself so seriously and appears to try to improve his skills just as hard, but he just can't put it all together. I like watching him box, he's got fast hands and some power, but he just can't figure out how to plant his feet and throw a professional punch. It's like his legs have a mind of their own, he's always bouncing around throwing punches.
He's fun to watch. I want to root for him and see him do well, but if he gets rocked with a big shot and does his chicken dance around the ring, that's just as much fun. Watching his fights are a win-win. He's either gonna unload some wicked combos and have success, or get caught with a hook (which for god knows why he can't avoid) and put on his butt. Or a combination of both. Either way, win-win for me sitting at home watching.
Vitali is going to murder Chisora tomorrow. A slow, painful death... hold off on a couple punches so he can serve up more later. Chisora is gonna end up in the hospital Shannon Briggs style. What a little *****
Kovalev is a beast. He's gonna make a lot of new fans fighting on HBO. I re-watched his fight on NBC and dude has skills. He's got the footwork to get in and out and he throws 6-8 punch combos on the reg. I hope Cleverly throws back and makes it exciting. His amateur pedigree really shows. I'm hoping he puts on a really good show and HBO takes him under their wing like they did Triple G and develop him. HBO seems to be going the way of international fighters, why not this Russian monster? :boxing:
Kovalev in no monster -- he's the mobile power impersonated (as I said several times before)... This is the the old Soviet boxing school; it seems minimalist but it's deadly precise.
Yeah that's what I mean. Kovalev has really good balance and either boxes 50/50 or slightly on the back foot. He's upright for the most part and doesn't seem to punch himself onto his front foot when he throws the right.
Is GGG old Soviet boxing school? He's got good footwork and precise punches...
Virgil is lucky he has ward, i think ward would be where he is regardless the trainer because hes that type of fighter. take ward out of his stable and who really has had success recently angulo berto and khan? sounds like a running joke
Yeah no kidding... haha
(Also, awesome GGG tribute video)
More than fair Wilder has staked his reputation on it doing 2.5 million.
I wouldn't say that. He immediately followed that up by saying, "hey, I'm an optimistic guy, so of course I'm gonna say that. Speak it, believe it, receive it..." Haha. That's how he do.
They'll try to drag him back right away and claim victory on a rusty unmotivated Fury. His social media makes it very clear the guy is done. His desire is gone. He's enjoying his celebrity and booze.
He'll show up for that check (likely $20+ million) and continue partying away. Its not a "fight" anymore. People need to accept that. Hearn is trying to pull a Canelo v. Chavez on the UK.
Haha! perfect analogy :boxing:
If Deontay 'Bronze-Bomber' Wilder fights at least two times a year : that's about six more fights at least, which will add six more title defenses to the current seven of the LINEAL and WBC title -- not bad retiring undefeated as the linear champion,a historic KO streak and lengthy reign.
Surely, the following generations will regard this period in time as the 'Bronze-Era'.
Yeah, Wilder doesn't have too much mileage on him considering he started boxing at 19 and has only gone 12 rounds once! That's just wishful thinking on AJ's part. Barry already revealed that they want to wait out Wilder for another two years, and AJ is just confirming the strategy.
I can see Wilder staying in the game a while. He seems to train smart (not pounding the streets jogging, being smart with quantity of sparring, knocking guys out before it goes the distance, etc.) AJ is just lying to himself to escape the reality that he might have to meet Wilder in the ring or retire from boxing. :lol1::lol1::lol1:
BRONZE AGE
seriously. we live in a dopplegangar world where this is a comment fit for a HW champion in his prime, according to little british shirelings.
i'd @ them all but i don't rmeember any of their names fully to type them.
i mean really, how f#cking bizarre has this **** gotten. blame eddie hearn and floyd mayweather :lol1:. everybody wants to get a billionaire in his stable now, damn the rest of the division or sport.
Yeah, this stuff from AJ (combined with what Barry Hearn said the other week) is jaw-droppingly embarrassing to read. He can't even be bothered to pretend he wants to be great, give the fans the fights they want to see, and be the undisputed, lineal heavyweight champion of the world (!!).
And the British "fan-agers" come in to defend his duck strategy saying he doesn't need to fight Wilder... he can do whatever he wants and he can make money... and we still love him!! :wtf:
Ward sees a kindred spirit in canelo surely. You know... in the way that both their promoters had the officials and reff paid off in all their big fights.
EXACTLY!! :lol1::lol1:
This may mean team GGG may accept oscars ridiculous flat fee offer. What a disgraceful team Canelo has.
I really hope so. See if Canelo wants a rematch clause, accept whatever the fee is, steamroll Canelo as hard as possible, and ask him post fight if he wants some more ("quieres mas Canelo?"). GGG should do that just for publicity and legacy.
He would be the people's champ after destroying the Diva that Canelo is becoming.
Not going to happen. Kell will try and use the same tactics he did against Porter, which was land and hold.
I do not think it will be a war.
GGG knows what to do when guys try to hold.

Yeah? Hard to tell with lame fish-eye camera lens. I'm looking forward to the next 24/7 episode
Thurman moves way too much for a guy with his type of punch. I like him but he wasn't impressive last night and was very fortunate for that ending, which I still don't understand. People keep saying collazo took a beating in the 7th which I didn't see at all.
I don't understand that ending either and I wasn't impressed by KT at all. He used to be more exciting and offensive. Maybe it was his left hand?? :dunno:
Doesn't look bad considering its a work in progress, but couldn't they have picked better quotes to put on those banners?
hahaha that's what I was thinking, those quotes are lame
WTF is this **** "joe needs to set up his big ass family"
Wtf is this begging bowl ****
my god i'm crying, they just ADMITTED this is a cash out
Haha, no kidding!
Team Parker: "PLEASE, WE WORKED SO HARD TO GET THIS BELT. PAY US "FAIRLY" FOR IT!!"
100% cash out. That was sad to read.
I fail to understand how a guy who is not a PPV draw turns down $15 million guaranteed.
Take the money and kick Canelo's ass if you can. If you win you can dictate terms for the rematch.
And even if you lose you just made more than most boxers will ever see in their entire lives.
Yeah, I'm a GGG fan, and this is how I feel about it. I hope GGG takes as much as he can get, puts the same kind of beat down he put on Curtis Stevens, and moves up in weight. After he fights Canelo, I don't really want to see him hang around at 160.
Take the money, beat down Canelo, and move up. Tell Tom to make it happen this September at Cowboys stadium!
Ring Magazine Top Ten Heavyweights
(1) Joshua
(2) Wilder
(3) Povetkin
(4) Parker
(5) Ortiz
(6) Whyte
(7) Breazeale
(8) Miller
(9) Kownacki
(10) Fury
Joshua Has fought 5 of 9 top fighters in the division & that's not including Vlad Klits! Wilder has faced only one of the top ten heavyweights which was Ortiz! By the end of next year its possible you can add Wilder & Fury to that list to make it 7 of 9 for Joshua! So please tell me why people are claiming Joshua is afraid to fight Wilder? One guy has 20 pro fights while the other has 40 pro fights! How does the guy with 20 pro fights resume is 10x better than the guy with 40 pro fights? I know we live in a world that's full of hate but I recall those same so call boxing fans who's jump on Wilder's bandwagon was hating him 12 months ago! Everyone seems to be emotional when it comes to AJ/Wilder but if you sit your emotions to the side for a moment & check the facts, you will see there is no comparison when it comes to their careers! Men lie, women lie, numbers don't!
What are you talking about man? He's fought (1) Parker, (2) Whyte, and (3) Breazeale... that's three...
What are you on man?
I'm a Wilder fan, and I know I'm being a hater, but I hope Povetkin puts AJ to sleep.
(Even though I can't stand Russians either after Putin pwned Trump and the entire Western world yesterday... RIP).
You think Wilder will show a lot of skills for the first time ever? Why has he waited until now?
He showed quite a bit of skill when he out-boxed Stiverne for 12 rounds to win the WBC strap. I think he's going to focus on the fundamentals against Ortiz because of who he is fighting and because of what everyone has been saying since he didn't perform well for the majority of the Fury fight.
I think he's going to show more skills this fight because he's going to have to against Ortiz and because he has a lot of motivation to do so.
I'm also a Wilder fan, so maybe it's just wishful thinking!
BS article. Anyone with eyes saw Porter win with effective aggression, higher workrate, ring generalship, and more punches landed. Porter was hurling haymakers at Spence all night, yet, Compubox would have you believe that Spence threw more and outlanded him. It was nowhere near close enough to let one knockdown grant Spence the decision as the writer, in the headline story on a website owned by CBS, would try so deliberately to ram into our heads. And what's with all the low blows from Spence not being called by Jack Reiss, "the most respected referee in boxing." No point deductions after several warnings? This favoritism for the A-side is out of control. Boxing isn't a sport, it's a business.
I like Spence. I wanted him to win, but Porter got robbed of another career defining victory as he did with Thurman. Porter so nice a dude he ain't complain about none of this bs. Much respect to the real winner. One day, in a high stakes fight, I'd like to see the winner actually win.
Porter got robbed?? Are you serious? Porter definitely exceeded expectations and landed plenty of punches, but he didn't get close to dominating the fight to say he got ROBBED!! He didn't hurt Spence once, and Spence blocked a lot of his combinations...
The scorecard in favor of Porter is outrageous. The look on Porter's face when the cards were announced and during the press conference when asked whether he thought he won says it all. He couldn't honestly say he did enough to win!!
Anybody feel like Parker was told to just let Joshua win? I'm not saying Hearn explicitly told him to lose, but that CHAMPIONSHIP HEAVYWEIGHT UNIFICATION FIGHT looked like a really awkward sparring session. After the fight they could barely string together 3 or 4 landed punches for the highlight reel
I know the ref played a good role in making it awkward and boring, but Parker was smiling before and after the fight like he was just there to take pictures and give away his belt. Dunno... that's how I feel about it... :dunno:
I still hope Parker sparks out Whyte.
Funny thing is it was a skill counter from Wilder that completely changed the fight. He baited Ortiz in and off the back foot landed a beautiful counter right hand.
But yeah, Fury is definitely levels above Wilder technically. What Wilder has going for him is his speed/jab/athleticism/power. Fury's foot movement is on another level though. Wilder doesn't throw many punches a round and if he looks for just one shot, Fury should be able to out box him for a decision. But at some point Wilder will go for broke if he is losing and then we will see what happens. Both to their credit have good stamina for HWs. So if it goes 12, neither should be blowing air like crazy as most HWs tend to do that late in a fight.
I believe this is the punch you were talking about. Ortiz tried following up and jumping in with a right hand and... POW!! that was the beginning of the end :boxing:

I agree, Tyson should be scared.
No, I don't giva **** that Wilder talks about killing people. It isn't meant to be the puncher pulling his punches that saves people any ****ing way.
What do you want from the man? Want him to not try so hard? Want him to hesitate because he's worried too much about killing a man? Want him to lie to you and tell you he does not believe he hits hard enough to kill?
Deontay Wilder believes he carries death in his hands and does not give a **** about applying it to your dome. He's an old school bare knuckle era puncher, they were literally called slaughterers, he does it properly. The men he is fighting, the refs, the doctors, the corners, it's their job to keep his opponents from dying. After 42 fights, not one death, all is as it should be.
Well said man. That's the truth of heavyweight boxing. If you want to pretend otherwise... go ahead and pretend away!
See my sig for Wilder punching thru Breazeale's chin and dropping him like a sack of potatoes. And check out the Szpilka KO. Oh and watch Stiverne slump into the ropes after his third knockdown. The power is real and so is the possibility of serious injury. Why pretend like heavyweight boxing is a nice thing where no one can get seriously hurt? Why can't Wilder talk about it and live in the truth that he could seriously hurt another fighter in the ring?
