As far as roy jones, i think he was one of the best fighters in the history of the sport. In his prime, all his fights seemed easy. He never seemed to struggle, even against the best like hopkins. but he was mostly entertaining which is why he is so highly rated.
If he fought better competition throughout his career, it would be easier to rank him. but we have to settle on what we know about him for sure, which is what makes ranking Jones jr so hard
I think hes a top 25 best P4P fighters ever. saying he is top 10 is really pushing it
Personally I agree with you on everything apart from the top 25 thing - Roy Jones has gotta be placed top 10 p4p without a doubt, he may have had alot of sub par opponents but he has also fought and BEATEN some hall of famers.He was No 1 P4P for 10 years and dont forget the fact that he was world champ at 4 different weights and I aint being rude but that deserves top 10!!!!
What would you be saying if he had retired after Ruiz, because the fact is he shot himself by trying to lose so much weight trying to get down to light heavyweight again.
hes good fighter that looks to fight more comfortable at 140

I gotta say, Im a girl and the only reason im into boxing is cos my other half (Elgaringo) loves it, I used to despise the sport but now I love it. I remember seeing Roy for the first time ever against Richard Hall and after that fight I was his biggest fan, to this day I have never seen such a mastercalss of boxing skill!! He may have been a nobody but Roy made sure everybody knew it!!
That 'one person' he beat WAS the the undusputed universally recognized Middlweight champion.
That makes him 'the' Middleweight champion.

The way the fight would go would be so far from what you saw last night that it wouldn't even look like the same sport. Calzaghe is everything that Tarver is not when it comes to agressive constant power-punching activity. If you let Hopkins set the pace, then you're doomed. Calzaghe would make him work too hard and with punches constantly coming at him from every angle Hopkins would simply be too defensive, too often, to win.
From what I remember, Hopkins had a tenative agreement to fight Calzaghe worked out, and bailed on it at the last minute when he demanded some changes (maybe after seriously watching some tape of Joe for the first time?). It'd be a good fight, and Joe called him out on several occasions, but Hopkins had pressing business with jr welters where he'd make more money (and did). Ditto for the Jones rematch that he wouldn't take. Another Hopkins legacy is smart business moves as he aged. He picked some good fights for himself with some big names and tip-toed around the more difficult ones when he needed to.

the only think is hopkins wouldent be able to keep that pace up agaist taylor middleweights are faster then light heavyweights

Jermain's reliance on that jab was one of the reasons he was hurt by Hopkins in that first fight, I believe in was either round 10 or 11, Hopkins timed that jab perfectly ,slipped it,and before Taylor retracted the jab Hopkins feet were already in mid air about to be perfectly placed to throw the straight right hand, which landed flush
Yeah you know id Bhop had not worried about self presevation in the early part of that fight he'd have won by UD no probs! Taylers good but I like Wright ;)

I am not even going to begin to go into detail about why giving Tommy Morrison a boxing liscense would be worthy of the "Boneheaded Move of the Century" award; it's flat out retarded.
He is positive, has been positive, will always be positive....and positively should never fight again for obvious reasons.
