I know u have probably had threads like this before but I am interested to hear the opinions of the american people when it comes to Ricky. Personally, before the fight against Colazzo (might be spelt wrong!!) I thought he would have blown him away because I have followed him all through his career in the UK. Obviously that didn't really happen so Im just wondering do you think he has the stuff to be one of the greats??
Agh, I could've worded that a little better.
I meant, in the UK he's overrated, and in the US he's underrated.
Basically you said the same thing, but the other way around :p. I know what your saying :D
I'm not even in the UK and I think he is overrated

Ricky Hatton...
By the American Public: Underated
By the UK Public: Overated
It's really that simple.
I'm not even in the UK and I think he is overrated
Canadian opinion: No I dont think Hatton has what it takes to be an all time great. He's an exciting fighter, crowd pleasing style but he's also one dimensional. Tszyu's style was perfect for Hatton but slick boxers like Collazo and Mayweather will give him problems all night long, actually I think Mayweather would completely shut him out. Watch now that I say that, they're gonna fight and Hatton is gonna land that big shot that finally stops mayweather in his tracks and im gonna have to eat all my words
He's a tough fighter who is kind of rough but generally makes for exciting fights and he's a likeable guy too. Maybe too far up on the p4p list, but we'll have to see...
if he's @ 140..he has to beat harris hopkins corrales castillo to impress me a little bit..if he's @ 147 i want to see him fight cotto, margarito or paul williams
i Dont think he'll become one of the all-time greats, but he would look good being on anyones record.
He is, and will always be, one of those really good boxers that the greats fight in order to prove themselves. You know what i mean?
A lot of people here think im from the UK, becuase im a huge ricky hatton fan, but im from NY. Born and raised in the bronx.
Ricky Hatton has great heart, great chin, great ablility, but he is most definetly the most comfortable at 140lbs.
i think he could and probably will grow into the 147 weight, but its gonna take longer then most people because his dumbass manager gave him a natural welterweight southpaw as his first fight at 147.
I mean, Mayweather STILL hasnt fought a natural welterweight because his managers know what they are doing!!!
Overall i think he is a great fighter, but will never be an all-time great. Unless of coarse he beats corrales, cotto, castillo, and then goes on to beat mayweather. THEN u got a future hall of famer. But the chances of him getting and winning all of those fights are highly unlikely
Ricky's got a lot of heart and determination; but he's gonna have to do better than he did against Collazo if he wants to beat Floyd. I honestly think he's got the talent to do it; but he'll have to train like he did at 140 and stay away from all his favorite foods. He didn't look like the same animal in his last fight and I don't know if that's because he didn't train as he should have or if he just can't handle the extra weight. Another thing is Hatton's the type of fighter that doesnt' usually have a very long shelf life. Either way, I respect his win over Tszyu who had just destroyed Mitchell and Maussa who had just knocked out Phillips. He deserved to be the Ring's fighter of the year based off those two fights. He's just gonna have to find that dedication he had at 140 again...or move back down.
hes good fighter that looks to fight more comfortable at 140
I agree with the weight issue - do you think he would do better at his natural weight - I do!
