I really like this kid, he's a bit limited but he's solid. I don't remember well but I think he had a really good fight when he lost and set him back. He had a black eye cause of training in days prior which was kinda awesome.
Against pac I think he'd do ok, he's there to be hit all night long though.
rigondeaux = golden teeth make you look ridiculous and scary ugly. also, you may be chinny.
gamboa = wtf happend brah? can't see you anywhere. you're short.
cotto = you ain't quiet and collected, you just have the fatty mentality. learn to defense and your head doesn't have to point to the ground.
ward = god didn't make you great. sweat and skills did. hit with more rage and don't clinch as much.
So basically everything you said so far is an opinion, yes or no? That's just how you feel, cause by definition Danny, ODLH, Rios, and Arreola are all latinos.
You're absolutely right. I was surprised to find the definition of the word on the web includes people living in the US. But I think it's in the same vein as the word 'sandwich' is included in any spanish dictionary. It's an adopted term.
Still, I don't think I'm incorrect in believing people raised in mex/pr are fundamentally different than the people raised in the usa, regardless of their latino parents. I mean, it's just one example, but here in PR there is no racism, none. We don't care about that. We do have a different sort of discrimination based on social standing, (de publica o privada). I have no fear of police for having color on my skin or wearing a hoodie or whatever. I have fear of police because I come from a caserio and that automatically makes me suspicious. I'm sure the same differences apply to mexicans/cubans/dominicans.
Was it me or did henrys punches look slow and weak? I read at esb that he was beatup last time they sparred and he was gunshy for this session. I knoiw the camp is just beggining and floyd is a master but still, i didn't see cottos moneyshots in henrys performance.
floyd still dominates
Vanes by UD.
JccJrs weight blowup makes him tough and resilient but it doesn't translate into him carrying much power imo. Vanes outboxes and moves the whole fight for a comfortable ud.
That's just being ignorant.
I was born in Dominican Republic, but was raised here in New York since I was 2 months old. My parents are both Dominican, I speak both English and Spanish. I'm 100% Dominican even if I was raised here my whole life. Only thing is my English is better than my Spanish, and I don't know the DR national anthem or any history of DR. But that doesn't change that I was born there, to 100% Dominican parents.
Not sure if serious or not but..
I respectfully disagree. You have a semblance of DR in you but you're not from DR. You're an american. You were raised in the american system, enjoying all it's freedoms and customs. You have american values imbued with you're parents values from DR.
Lol, man, Americans don't consider us Hispanics as one of theirs. When I walk in the street, i'm just another Hispanic. You don't get treated like an American, you get treated like a Hispanic. Cops see you as a Hispanic, the law sees you as a Hispanic. A hispanic is a hispanic until she/he's far far removed from them even in appearance. Police gonna look at you like a Sp*c. But okay whatever you say.
Not that I disagree with this statement but that says more about american culture than you being from any other place. In fact, the fact you acknowledge this behavior in the USA just shows how you're part of the culture.
But we can agree to disagree. :greddy2:
I don't like it when boxers just becasue their parents are from rican or mexican decent, it automatically makes them latino. I've said it before, if he wasn't raised on the island he ain't no rican.
But congrats on his win, hope he gets to keep it.
So Rios and Arreola aren't Latinos?
As latinos as DLH, americans of hispanic decent. They're mex-americans. All three of them are (were) listed and rated as americans not mexicans, even on boxrec.
Regardless, to me it's all about where you were brought up. Your parents can teach you a lot about the culture but there are intangibles that you only acquire by living on the island/mex. An example is Margarito for mexico and Dulorme for pr.
Man i hate saying american when referring to the usa. It's only a part of the americas but they carry the tittle and the connotation.. but then again, what do you call em? uslandians? lol :banana:
The young star Lopez prepping and probably one more fight from the major showdown.
Hits his hardest, fights his best on that night and slowly broken down by a strong and determined Salido.
With this rematch, what do you think Lopez needs to do and can do? Is there anything he can learn from Salido's last performance? Even though Salido was dropped hard, he proved he is still one tough dude.
He wasn't broken down like cotto was, he was caught with a huge overhand that had been tagging him all night. I remember Salido in an interview saying that the punch that connected was his punch, he threw it with all his force. The fight was competitive until that point then it was a juanma just trying to survive and Salido picking his spots against a ****ty defense.
JML-Salido II, I give to Salido again barring a huge connect by Juanma cause I don't think he'd get up like he did in his last fight. Then again, Juanma can try and not bumrush everything that's infront of him, you know like in boxing.
It might surprise you that I am not even a Mayweather fan.
I just see him as so much better.
It doesn't matter.
Floys is beyond good and has some of the best skills ever displayed in the ring but to think he is better at everything than most his opponents is asinine.
Cotto may be winding down but he has his tools. Same with Ortiz, he was young and inexperienced but he had his tools. Same with Mosley, etc. These people are professionals, most don't sit around hoping to get lucky. Well, maybe Ortiz did but that's a different story...
Money is better, but to think his opponents have 0 chance, or .1 chance or some other silly things some people keep repeating is just a turnoff.
Floyd is a better inside fighter than Cotto.
That facet of the game is something he's underrated in.
He will sit in the pocket and torch guys.
I know you like Cotto, but Cotto still does NOTHING better than Floyd.
Not even the hook.
Horse****.
Don't get me wrong, Floyd has got this but you're taking the stan to the next level with the hook comment.
Judging Lucas/Alexander and I feel Lucas is a better fighter than Maidana. Alex will win via SD, as much as I would like Maidana to knock his melon off.
Yeah but don't you think Maidana compensates lack skill for punching power and pressure?
Maybe Alexander is elusive enough to not get tagged the whole 12.
Is this version of Cotto as competitive as the semi-retired Oscar that Floyd won an SD over?
That version of Oscar was on the slide, and still managed to cause some problems.
I think people are giving a 35 yr. Mayweather too much credit, and the sliding Cotto too little.
If Cotto shows up slightly reinvigorated, it spells trouble for anyone.
He may get beat, but he'll make you pay.
This is practically exactly what I think. But money has got this, you can bet on it.
A single line won't do much of anything in real life, imagine a real fight. I mean, it'd have to be done in the dressing room just prior to the walkout so the fighter'd be pumped for the intro and anxious as **** to get it on at the beginning, but the effect would die down drastically between rounds as the adrenaline takes over and fluctuates.
Also, he'd be at a greater risk of facing the severe side effects since he'd be in some strenuous exercise but that's highly unlikely.
I found it odd when May said he thought Cotto was a strong champ even if the fans would get on him cause he'd be fighting Pacs leftovers.
I hope it get's made, barring the haters this is a good match-up.
May by UD in an exciting scrap.
Everybody is getting their panties in a bunch by a bad translation. People hating on the coach for something he didn't mean, **** is sad.
I listened to the interview and translated it, the only over the top thing that was said in it was how Steward had stinky feet.
If Bryan Hawk from hajime ippo who is a fictional wbc junior middleweight fighter was a real life boxer in the modern junior middlewight boxingscene then how good would he be and would he go undefeated until he would run in to andre ward/takamura???
Also how would he do againts a ricardo mayorga in mayorgas prime???

I mean, I'm kinda sure Hawk was based on Hamed. His attitude and style are almost copies. Plus they're similar looking except forthe weight class.
If he's hell-bent on keeping the same style, I think he needs to get a better strengthening/conditioning coach. Put more hurting inside that volume punching. At times last night he was landing big punches that looked like they were having little effect on Ishida, even though he was clearly dominating him.
