Good for you then because I havent seen any other Flomos who have given Pac credit for fighting DLH, Cotto, Mosley, and Hatton at all...
To me, he gets little credit for beating Oscar at a 145 lb CW. Oscar hadn't fought around that weight in 7-8 years. Beating Mosley, he gets some credit, but not a whole lot. At least Floyd did it when Shane had just KO'd Mayorga and Margarito, where as Pac beat him after losing to Floyd and a draw with Mora.
But, Hatton and Cotto, Manny gets his due for those. Hatton and Cotto were both past their prime-still good. Hatton was at 140 lbs, so Manny gets his due there, it's just that Floyd should get more credit for that. He gets his due for Cotto as well, and if Floyd fights Cotto at 154 lbs, Floyd gets his due, but Manny gets more credit to me, because he did first.
Nope, I have always said that Manny hasn't fought a legit fight since Hatton and Cotto in 2009. Yes, I said Hatton and Cotto were not prime when Manny fought them in 2009, but they were still good. Past their prime-still good. I think Cotto is basically the same guy he was in 2009, only at 154 lbs instead of 147.
Look at Cotto in 2006-2007 and than look at how he was in 2009. He wasn't quit ethe same prime guy but he was still good, and Manny gets his due for that win, I just think it's a little overrated considering that Cotto had looked like dog s**t against Clottey prior to that fight and had been KO'd by Margarito. But, look at Cotto in 2009 and in 2011, he's pretty much the exact same guy. As long as Pacquiao or Floyd fought him at 154 lbs, that's a B+ fight to me. He's still good, coming off some decent wins since Pac TKO'd him, it's a legit fight at 154 lbs.
In a reference to the leftover comment, here's been my take on it. I have only ever brought that up when Pacquiao fans want to give Manny more credit for his wins over De La Hoya, Hatton, and Mosley, and than bash Floyd for those wins. How can Manny get more credit for those wins than Floyd, who beat them first??? If Floyd fights Cotto, I will say the same thing, only vice-versa.
Yes, Manny gets credit for beating a past prime-still good Hatton, and because he did it at 140 lbs, but Floyd still gets more credit for beating a prime Hatton, who was unbeaten-top 10 P4P, and for doing it first. Yes, Manny gets some credit for beating past prime versions of De La Hoya and Mosley, but Floyd gets more credit for beating past prime versions of both guys, because he beat De La Hoya first and at 154 (not 145) and for beating Mosley when Shane had just KO'd Margarito and was seen as one of the top 2 or 3 WW at the time.
So, if Floyd fights Cotto, Manny gets more credit. Manny beat a past prime-still good Cotto first, where as Floyd would have beaten a past prime-still good Cotto 2 1/2 years after Manny. But, Floyd still would get credit for beating Cotto at 154, just like Manny got credit for beating Ricky Hatton.
Good for you then because I havent seen any other Flomos who have given Pac credit for fighting DLH, Cotto, Mosley, and Hatton at all...
Floyd would knock Cotto out. Cotto hasn't impressed me since Clottey. Fair enough, good try against Pacquiao but since then, he's been fighting bums or boxers with something inherently wrong with them:
- Yuri Foreman (give me a break, this guy injured himself and was never really any good)
- Ricardo Mayorga (way past his prime)
- Antonio Margarito (As if Margarito was going to beat Cotto...Margarito is already a dead man way before Pacquiao destroyed him). He's a walking target.
So if its Cotto then Floyd is fighting Pac's leftover ... Personally I dont have a problem with it..One or 2 loses doesnt make a fighter suddenly shot especially if its coming from defeat against a top level fighter..
I just find funny, how you Flomos jumped on the Cotto bandwagon so quickly considering the bull**** that you have posted about fighting fighters who have been previously defeated.. And in Cotto's case beaten to a pulp by Pac himself..

floyd made ortiz back up most of the fight. ortiz backed up mayweather at maybe one instant. big deal
I strongly believe that Ortiz was intimidated by Floyd. Yes, Ill say it. He was intimidated by him. Add the frustration on Ortiz being unable to reach FJMr. with authority, let to the crappy ending of the fight.
Cotto - FMJr. will be a great fight. I can see it easily going to the cards but I belive that Miguel could KO FMJr.
You are a credible poster, Phantom. So I wanted to know what the chances of Mayweather fighting Martinez really are? I have read the quote from DiBella about the possibility of Floyd considering Sergio but I still think it will be a Golden Boy fighter he will be facing this May.
Robert Guerrero or Saul Alvarez are next. I do hope I am wrong, for a fight against Sergio Martinez is one I would rather see. :fingersx:
Gotta say the little article early has swayed me against the chance of Martinez being the opponent.
Everyone and there mom in the boxing writer world thinks Canelo is the guy.
Which I think is a step up from Ortiz but still a huge disappointment.
Floyd.
But I don't think it happens.
I think Martinez-Mayweather happens.

Cotto has a chance at a decision, however I think his power is vastly overrated for "Tko'ing" Foreman who injured his leg from Cotto's team spilling water on the canvas as well as Mayorga's hurt right hand after landing a LEFT and Margarito's cut opening up from what Pacquiao did to him.
Cotto has NO chance at a decision, I just don't see it at all. He might rough Floyd up a few time in the early rounds, but it's going to be all Floyd in the mid to late rounds. Especially in the late rounds when Cotto usually gasses, he's the perfect opponent to "take to deep waters and drown him" as Floyd like to say. I'm not a blind Floyd hugger, I just think it's a bad match up for Cotto at this point since all his flaws have been exposed by others.

Floyd all day all night.
A lot of times, it seems like Cotto dances around, jabs, and than comes in with a short little quick combo. That won't work with Floyd, Floyd WILL walk him down. Cotto has the size advantage over Floyd, but I see Floyd walking him down, winning wide on points (117-111, 118-110). Miguel is pretty much the same guy he was in 2009 when he fought Pac, past his prime-still good. Floyd neutralized Ortiz' offense, and Victor's a little bit more explsoive right now than Miguel is. Both have power, but Ortiz was a southpaw, and is a bit more explosive. Remember for 75% of the fight when Floyd was walking Victor down, it will be the same thing against Cotto.
Cotto is a good fighter, one of the top 154 lb fighters in the world, but he doesn't beat Floyd.
I think Lara, Alvarez, Kirkland, Ortiz, Berto, would all give Cotto tough fights right now at this stage.
Floyd by UD12. Floyd beating Cotto at 154 lbs actually does a little bit for his legacy as well. It will a win over a sure HOF, and a HOF that was still good. I've said it time and time again, the last time Manny fought someone who had a legit shot of actuallyd oing something or that was still good was Hatton and Cotto in 2009, and Cotto right now is pretty much the same guy.
If Floyd fights Cotto at 154, it's a B+ fight.
No doubt that Manny gets bigger credot for beating Cotto first, but Floyd would still get some credit for beating Cotto, especially if it was at 154 lbs, where as Manny beat him at a 145 CW. It's the same thing with Floyd beating Hatton first. Floyd beat him first, when he was prime, but Manny still gets credit for beating a past prime-still good Hatton, plus he beat him at 140 lbs. It's the thing with Cotto, who is still past his prime-still good, like he was in 2009.
not againts a strong guy in cotto....even ortiz was able to back him up....
floyd aint got the offense to do all that...he's a safety first figfhter. he might win by decision but in no way this is a beatdown...
floyd made ortiz back up most of the fight. ortiz backed up mayweather at maybe one instant. big deal
Floyd beats Cotto, probably ud, but i seriously doubt he ko's Cotto. Floyd wins on points, he's a very smart boxer, with brittle hands. Cotto's got a decent chin, even after all the battles he's been in. He's a dam good boxer himself, who is still improving, but past prime. Kinda ironic...like to little, too late.
I would have loved to see this fight around '08, when Cotto was still undefeated and in his prime. If Cotto landed a lucky left hook body shot back then, he might have sent Floyd to the canvas.
Mayweather applies more pressure recentley, I expect him to make Miguels to take a knee.

I actually see that happening, maybe not take a knee but he's gonna have Cotto literally running.
the knee thing is a joke but I do see a stoppage since Mayweather doesn't box and move like he did before and instead trades

only issue I see Cotto presenting is his awesome body work, but he's actually abandoned that strategy for some time now.
