If he goes back to the JMW division, then yes, he's ducking. However, he stated that he wouldn't gp back to JMW. So unless Martinez wants to come down to 147, Pac has no obligation to fight him.
Who's a more legit promoter and why.... I got Vince... At least he's not pretending to be honest.
Vince by faaaaaaaaaar. At least he admits it's fixed.
I love the phrase hometown judges to me is just fcking stupid the judges dont care where your from they care about who slipped them the most cash.
^this...perfectly put :boxing:
Perro Bermudez
Jerry "The King" Lawler
Jim Ross
haha niiice....can you imagine Jim Ross going "what a slobberknocker!" during a Corrales/Castillo type fight?!
I'll probably get railed for this but Joe Buck would be my pick. Or one of them at least. He's a refined professional and does a good job calling A games for both the NFL and MLB.
I would rail you lol, but he actually crossed my mind tbh. Thinking about it, he's kinda similar to Lampley. The way he projects his voice might cross over well into boxing.
Maybe he really feels today like he's going to retire, but this is just another impulsive decision of an alcoholic with a history of impulsive decisions. All the DUI's, drunk and disorderly, backing out of fights with "knuckle infections" for two years, backing out of the bute fight at the last minute, I could go on, serve as examples of the guys frame of mind. Boxing writers need not waste the time writing articles or interviewing him about his decision to retire. They're only going to be interviewing him about why he changed his mind some time in the next two years and how he's going to be back better than before. He just wants some time to be a fall down drunk without anyone pressuring or bothering him. Don't bother speculating what he's going to do next, that's it. He'll be back fighting when he needs more drinking money, even if its just at local non televised shows. We have not seen or heard the last of him. Pavlik can do whatever he wants, I'm not mad at him, obviously. I just don't want to be swamped with all these career obituary/ praise articles that are premature and unwarranted.
Whenever they wave that big money fight at him (or hell, small money fight), he'll be back. He'll come back, beat a journeyman, get a Ward or Bute fight, get ktfo'd, retire, rinse and repeat.
I believe it was bribing the IBF so a fighter could be ranked. This obviously still happens today without a doubt
In the mid 1990s, Arum committed a host of Felonies when he admittedly gave then IBF President Bob Lee over $100,000 as a “bribe” to allow George Foreman, then heavyweight champ, to fight Axel Schultz instead of a top contender. He accomplished this by laundering the money through Europe with then booking agent Stan Hoffman. Shortly thereafter, Arum admitted such in a US Dept. of Justice affidavit that was published here at RingTalk.com. The fallout saw Arum fined in a number of states, while unable to promote in Arizona.
wow....just wow. I don't know how he's allowed to get away with this stuff.
I was at work yesterday and in the break room one of my coworkers started talking about the Pacquiao knockout loss to JMM etc. Well eventually as usual the discussion shifted to Mayweather and how he hasn't fought anyone his whole career and that's why he is undefeated. He stated that Floyd should fight Marquez since Marquez just beat Pacquiao. That's when I said that yes I would be glad to see Marquez get another big payday, but I don't think the outcome of the fight would be any different than there first fight a rew years ago. He then said what first fight. After I told him about the first fight and how Floyd pretty much won every minute of the fight, he says well Marquez wasn't established as a good fighter back then. I said you are right he was already established as a great fighter but Floyd was and would always be a bad matchup for him stylistically. Well he went on to trash Floyd some more and then talked about how the two (RUSSIAN) heavyweight brothers are bad for boxing etc. and that they haven't fought anyone either. It's baseless idle chatter like that from clueless part time boxing fans, whom only watch the marquee fights that really gets my goat.
Use technical terms like "counterpunching" "swarming" "footwork" etc to throw off their rhythm :boxing:
You guys are cold for laughing. Yeah there are examples of guys who invested well but not many.
As for Foreman he got lucky with those grills. The story goes it wasn't even supposed to be George Foreman they wanted someone else's name but ended up settling for George.
It was supposed to be Hulk Hogan but her turned it down for some reason....must be kicking himself in the ass over it.
Let's say fighter A was knocked down by fighter B. The KD happened in the first minute, but after fighter A got up, he proceeded to school fighter B. Would that round in a 9-9 score?
Or would it be a 10-8 score from there?
Yes, one of the judges completely ignored the officially called KD in round 10 of pac vs mosley. So it's been done before. However, the most likely outcome would be a 10-9 in favor of fighter B in you scenario.

What a troll....
Not you, I meant the above two
In regards to the MW tournament, he only made it when he thought his boy Trinidad would win it. Hopkins was trying to fight don king belt holders for years.
Good point, although I think that Bhop wanting to run his own ship as manager, promoter & fighter had a lot to do with him not getting those shots.
Use technical terms like "counterpunching" "swarming" "footwork" etc to throw off their rhythm :boxing:
Can't blame you. They piss me off too. I told a friend that I think Marquez might win. She was like "what??!!" (rabid pac fan obviously) as if that's such a crazy prediction. I asked her why she said that, her response "I dunno." Guess what? Completely owned after :nana:
Yea climbing ropes and spinning in circles trying to catch a tennis ball is going to beat Floyd Mayweather. Log off, son.
A Margacheato fan trolling a Cotto thread with a legit argument....why am I not surprised?
From 140 to 147 what prime legit opponent did Floyd has fought?
Hatton (although admittedly not at his prime weight).
Ortiz (I think, I don't even know if he has a prime tbh. Maybe we can scratch that one off the list).
Guerrero (if it takes place, then I'll say that he's prime enough)
A prime Miguel Cotto from 2007-2008 had much faster hands and threw absolutely beautiful combinations with power. I agree that he had a shot to beat Floyd with the proper game plan, and I also agree that Diaz would have been the guy to train him.
^this...physically prime Cotto + proper gameplan = good chance to beat Floyd
So is Mayweather in his prime in your hypothetical scenario or just Cotto? You do realize that Floyd is older than Cotto don't you? I mean Floyd isn't in his prime either. He also chose to fight Cotto's fight. A prime Floyd fights a completely different fight imo. You have to take all of that into consideration.
I do actually. However, Cotto is more removed from his prime now than Mayweather is, and 147 is Cotto's best weight, whereas for Floyd it's 130-135. I don't believe that Floyd "chose" to fight Cotto's fight....more like he had no other choice but to do so. In all honesty, if I had to make a prediction, it's probably a majority decision for Floyd (something like 114-114, 115-113, 116-112). Without Pedro Diaz, Floyd probably gets a wide UD because Cotto can't catch him.
IMO Roy Jones Jr. was the most physically gifted athlete ever to step in the ring. I, like many others feel he won the majority of his fights on his athletisism alone. But it is bothersome to hear people say he had been exposed by tarver! Jones was 35 when he lost to tarver, most fighters are done by that age! I feel that Jones gaining the weight and extra muscle to fight ruiz did him in! " Its easier to recover by loosing fat, but not by loosing muscle mass! Tarver was victim of that himself when he gained weight and some extra muscle for the "Rocky" movie. He said it himself. Jones in his prime would beat anybody from middleweight to cruiserweight easily! Y'all musta forgot!,lol.
Even at his weakest, RJJ still beat Tarver! (I had the fight 115-113 for RJJ in one of the gutsiest performances I've seen). To me, that solidified that he could beat ANYONE in his prime. Anybody that says he got exposed don't know sh1t!
The Ghost is allot tougher than people think! People who dont know boxing think its an easy fight for Floyd! It will be like Floyd vs a bigger stronger, faster, more durable version of hatton! If Floyd struggles/loses to him, then he goes on to beat the crap out of other ww's, I think Floyd will get credit! But he wont get credit right away! People will say he struggled against a lightweight bum.
Good post. Floyd definitely isn't going to have an easy day with the Ghost. The type of swarming fight against Berto is the only chance the Guerrero has. If he can pull it off effectively, Floyd is going to have a long night. Should Floyd more than likely win, he wont get the credit he deserves until Ghost really starts rocking the WW division, which he will in due time.
If Danny Garcia goes on to become something great, Khan's loss will look alot more respectable. He better hope that Garcia goes on to become the 140lb kingpin.
