look at rainford's arm/bicep girth compared to brian's
it's f**king huge, he was obviously on PED's and that's the reason for the KO, plain & simple
Because bicep girth=punching power
One time baby. One time. Seeing how he handled guerrero, who is pretty big at welter. I get the feeling garcia would be in for a rough night.
Provo may even be willing to get in there. But maidana for me is the favourite. He's bully garcia like no tomorrow.
Oh ok .. So you know nothing about the area he grew up in or what people from his region sound like when they speak ? So you're just completely talking out if your arse instead of just a little ... I get it.
No different to when you presumed all Eastern Europeans are bland. just like you were talking out of your arse when you presumed that everyone who doesn't like "urban" fighters, which makes no sense since most boxers come from poor backgrounds, are all nerds. Calm down and stop trying to find an agenda
PPV...
U avin a giggle m8?
Funny thing is this will probably do better than most expect...
I'm telling u British fans are braindead when it comes to boxing they haven't got a clue they'll just buy the fooker because it's an all Brit card.
As someone from the UK I completely agree with this. Because of the way sky promotes Hearn fighters some guys who just want to see a punch up are led to believe that these guys are the best on the planet. I'm scottish but I don't believe ricky burns is as good as people have made out and brook is starting to rub badly on me since he's holding the belt hostage in Sheffield. Who the hell wants a ppv in Sheffield!?
Boxnation were pretty bad in the way the hyped up gavin, effectively ignoring the fact that the guy is basically a blown up light welter.
Cambpell is a great prospect as is selby but come on. If Joshua was as big a prospect as we were led to believe he would have had a fight against an established name by now.
It's just like when people thought cleverly-bellew was a really significant fight and stupidly bought it on ppv. Imo the only justified ppv from Sky in recent years was froch-groves 2. And they had to promote the hell out of that for it to work.
It's a Puerto Rican, Philly thing. Philly got a lot of blacks and hispanics mixed up, and the culture rubs off on the people so you got a lot of Ricans dressing "black" or whatever. It's just how the environment is. If you go to Oakland you see the same thing but with Mexicans.
Both guys are from the same area and same ethnicity.. So it make sense for them to have similarities.
Hm, I never thought about that. For some reason the Philly connection never clicked for me.
Eastern European fighters aren't bland you're right.. Kovalev = Prince Naseem, right guys? Lol...Not a presumption and the people who skew their way in terms of fandom happen to hate "urban fighters" that's where I draw the connection. Nerds finding hope in other bland, nerdy type people to beat up their bully's ... Kosta Tzsyu vs Zab Judah
Kovalev has a personality. It's just very different from Naseem and the likes. Did you see the way kovalev mocked pascal's wobbly legs during the fight? If anything kovalev's a bully! I didn't care much about the ko against zab but rather the way he threw a tantrum after it. Are you trying to tell me that maidana, a bully in himself who uses illegal tactics, is praised by people who hate bullies when he beat up broner? Gtfo with this logic man. I root for fighters because of their style and skills. Rarely for their personality. If it makes you feel any better I rooted for gabe when he fought quillin. Neither of the two are bullies.
Man, Europeans needs to stop their pathetic whining and start producing some proper fighters. I know it must feel annoying...
"Ah, it's so nice to have Wladimir as the champ! Oh? Who is that young, tall, athletic and extremely powerful American boxer who makes me fear for Wladimir's safety? Wladimir doesn't have to fight him, Wilder sucks! Wladimir should fight Fury, he looks more dangerous than Wilder!"
I'm almost laughing everytime Wladimir mentions Wilder AND Fury. No, Wladimir, just stick to mentioning ONLY Wilder or just admit that you will duck him and choose to fight Fury instead! Fury is your excuse to duck Wilder.
You're really pushing here. People want wlad to fight wilder because everybody knows wilder isn't that good. And you sure like generalising Europeans. Europe is made of a variety of different nationalities and boxing styles. Wlad is Ukrainian. In a lot of cases some European countries are more likely to root against other European countries. Stop being ignorant and presuming a whole continent is the same. That's like saying Argentina and Mexico produce the same fighters
Why doesn't wilder mention povetkin? It just seems strange that he's looking for the easiest path here. Why did wilder need to fight 30 stiffs while fury and even Chisora were calling him out?
I'm afraid I have to disagree with you.
Deontay has not taken over s division dominated by wlad. But he will likely be the king was wlad retires I reckon.
Cruiser and light heavy don't have much in the way of american champs right now.
You can't say that ward is dominating super Middle when he hasn't fought in a year and a half. Dirrell is debatable but right now Froch is the main man at 168.
Peter "I was being outboxed by rosado" Quillin is cuban not american.
At light middle lara and Alvarez seem to be dominated but Andrade looks good so far.
Welterweight you have mayweather and thurman, but that division is stacked with more foreign talent than american.
Danny isn't dominating ***** at 140 when he's fighting non title fights and fighting salsa while refusing yo rematch herrera.
Crawford I'm a fan of but he isn't dominating at all. He never cleaned out 135 and we don't know what he's like at the higher weights.
Mickey bey is the only relevant american in the lightweight division right now.
And america is virtually nonexistent in the division below that.
So tell me again how america is starting to take back boxing?
:usa:Develop somebody that can beat Floyd Mayweather Jr and Andre Ward....then I will believe your theories of how you're country or region of the world is "TAKING OVER BOXING" :lol1:
However congrats for finally having a few good fighters from your country in the sport of boxing after SO MANY YEARS! Now you have a lot of catching up to do so...GOOD LUCK! :dunno::usa1:
Talk sh1t about America all you want but your favorite fighter needs this country to make money in the sport and have a desire to be a Superstar HERE IN THE USA and not in his own country
So mayweather and ward=boxing? Because ward is a huge draw. Because ward has fought so many people outside of Oakland. Because the welterweight division =boxing.
Boxing has always had champs from all over the world. 1 champ in 1 weightclass, because ward is too inactive to be listed as one, does not mean America has taken over boxing.
And yeah they go to America for the money as well but surely that's an even bigger mockery? Them coming over, beating American fighters and earning money from it?
But look man, I personally support fighters based on the fighter, not their country. If you want to refuse to admit that America is not the boxing superpower it once was then so be it.
I have noticed that, OP.
Danny Garcia does the same thing. He's essentially 80% plus Spanish-European background, but you'd think he was African-American the way he postures and emulates.
It sounds extremely corny, and is laughable.
Oh man garcia I forgot about him! And he wonders why native Puerto ricans don't like him! Rosado and garcia are the worst offenders I reckon. i mean enjoying rap and dressing a certain way isn't limited by the colour of your skin but the way both of them go out of their way to use certain speech patterns and postures that happen to be similar to black athletes is really laughable. Rosado's recent press conference where he talked smack about shane Mosley is laughable. But at least Danny's dad doesn't behave like that. Then he's be even more annoying
Rosado and garcia speak and act that way because I'm pretty sure they grew up in the hood (Ghetto).. I'm from new york born and raised in the Bronx and we all talk that way in the hood ....we all speak alike we all have the swag its just were you from like i know went somebodys from rhode island or from boston or even from philly I meen it's not like it's a black thing it's just that way went you from the hood ...that's how we got raised....it's just like naughty by nature said.. if you never been to the ghetto don't ever come to the ghetto cause you wouldn't understand the ghetto so stay the F*CK out the GHETTO. ...
...........k den
I just think Rosado is a dick, it doesn't go deeper than that
Lol, posters on here I swear have some kind of agenda. Trying to make everything into a race thing when really rosado has become a bit of a dick lately. He used to be pretty chill but lately he seems to have gotten too big for his boots.
Senior Boxing...let all the 40 year old and ups only fight each other, make their bouts only 6-8 Rounds. Let the WBC make a Senior WBC World Champion Belt :lol1: Make it similar to Golf and the Senior PGA Tour.
Get Oscar, Mosley, Morales guys who can't compete with the young guys anymore but can still fight and make a paycheck
I'm somewhat joke but I'm also serious, get some of these dudes out of retirement let them come and make some money especially for those that are not doing well financially and can use the extra money :dunno:
Would love to see Oscar Back! Just not against any of these Young Lions!
I think this is a brilliant idea! That way we wouldn't see the sad sight of shop worn fighters getting blasted out by young, active guys.
Have to say lamont made me a fan too last night. Not seen such a good performance from him before. Great mixture of footwork and inside fighting. Just wish he got the nod but he wasn't active enough early on to win.
I noticed that quite a few people on this site generally don't like English speaking Latinos (non Mexican) from the east coast. My theory is there are a lot of nerdy type dudes on this forum and they can relate to immigrant Latino,Asian or even Eastern European fighters who lack style and personality (not their fault, language barrier) because they themselves lack in those departments...
Difference is they have no excuse they grew up in this country. Point is the young,American, urban fighters remind them of the guys who used to pick on them in highschool (probably still do). Well adjusted non beta type dudes don't even notice anything weird in the way "those type" of fighters act because they aren't viewed as a threat and we can just enjoy the sport without making it about "I hope he loses because he reminds me of the guy who used to smack me around back in the day"
Well don't worry I don't share that view because I'm not american....I'm european so naturally I tend to gravitate more towards Europeans as they are a bigger feature in the ams as well as pros for me. But I never mentioned wanting gabe to lose. I even said he's a brave fighter with heart. Hell, I don't like mayweather as a person but I appreciate his skills and sometimes even root for him.
I didn't grow up in America so your whole idea of East Coast, Hispanic or urban predudice doesn't ring a bell for me. I just thought it was an odd way for him to talk and disrespecting shane Mosley seemed a bit far.
Danny clearly won but *IF* he can stay at 140 he should, but judging by this fight it seems he might not be able to. Peterson "El Mata Moscas" was getting away with trying to fight all like JC Chavez at times and had Danny backpedaling alot. Danny still clearly won because if he wasn't blocking Peterson's punches, Peterson was missing badly. That Danny that was back pedaling last night was clearly NOT THE SAME GUY WHO STOOD HIS GROUND AGAINST AND HURT MATHYSSE AND MADE MATHYSSE GUN SHY AND SECOND GUESS HIMSELF. My guess is that Garcia will be even stronger, maybe even much stronger, at welterweight than even the night he shocked the monstrous Lucas.
P4p best troll thread I read today. What about the monstrous herrera? The one who roughed him up on the inside? How would danny do against bigger men like maidana, porter or guerrero? All of whom love fighting on the inside?
Oh god boxnation are going to have a field day with this. Gavin's not even a legit welter. He should be light welter but can't lose the weight. He got outboxed by a good fighter in bundu, who was beaten by thurman. Gavin has done nothing to win this title. Brook vs thurman would have made a lot more sense. Hell, guerrero would have made more sense
Thanks guys, I just stumbled across this by accident looking for sparring stories. It's updated frequently so it's something to follow. Floyd and manny's partners are interesting as are james toney's interesting anecdote about matthyse hitting harder than provo according to bradley
Great post Roy
I echo these sentiments
Nsb is rife with disrespect
It's disgusting
There's actually people saying the fight wasn't good enough
Are people really saying that? Jesus Christ that's messed up. Even men like Algieri and bradley, who I've movked before, get my respect because they don't shy away from big fights. Ruslan and matthyse both fought their hearts out. The whole process of training for weeks, sparring in the gym then making weight would put off most men. But THEN going in and fighting like that, potentially ruining or ending your career early. That takes guts and it's disgusting that people would say the fight "wasn't good enough"
Since HBO mandated that they wouldnt buy this fight unless a letter of intent was signed for Cotto-Canelo next, it is relatively certain that Cotto is NOT going to honor the WBC ruling that he must face GGG immediately after his voluntary defense against Geale.
If the WBC backtracks and does not strip Cotto, I hope GGG takes the WBC interim belt and urinates on it on youtube
Ggg just pouring tequila on the wbc belt. Mexican style
