I felt that peterson won the fight but either way what's done is done and it's time to move on.
That said however, there are many important things that this fight showed.
Danny will get starched at welterweight. He looked tiny in comparison to peterson, was physically much weaker and his shots weren't having a huge effect on him. He looked much slower and his conditioning was suspect. It's only a matter of who stops him first at welter.
But also Peterson was very impressive. He showed great footwork and a strong inside game. What matchups do you think would be good in the future?
I think he would beat Maidana because Maidana don't like it to the body and Garcia has an underrated chin/ boxing skills
I think he beats sloppy Devon but loses to just about everyone else in the top 10.
On last night's evidence he loses to both of those. Garcia throws nice and sharp combinations when his opponent is stepping in, but he didn't seem to be hurting Peterson that much at all. The likes of Guerrero and Maidana are much heavier, stronger men and keeping them off him is going to be a big ask.
If he can't beat the more direct pressure fighters I'm not sure who he'd beat. I'll have to see how he looks at a full 147. Maybe he'll look stronger. He'll need to.
Garcia is bigger than Guerrero and Maidana.
Maidana is dangerous but he's vulnerable as well, we've seen him hurt numerous times. I think he could outwork Gift, but I'd lean towards Gift by UD. Maidana is wild and always there to be hit, he's not gonna make Fanny miss like Herrera and Peterson, it will be a fire fight and I think Fanny will take Maidana's shots better than Maidana takes Fanny's.
Guerrero isn't as dangerous as Maidana but he's tougher and more crafty/skilled, he could outbox and outwork Danny.
The problem with Gift is he's so limited, he's got no jab, flat-footed and can't cut the ring off, doesn't move his head, doesn't feint etc. He can't fight on the inside or outside, he always has to be at mid-range to be comfortable, he's just got so many flaws, it's a miracle how he's only lost twice so far.
The only top 10 welterweights Fanny has a chance against are Guerrero and Maidana. And those are 50-50 fights.

Floyd obviously beats him, Brook is a horrific style match up but outside of that I think he holds his own/has a shot against anyone else.
I actually think one of the toughest fights at welterweight for Garcia is Bundu.
Maidana will do what PEDerson did, but from the opening bell. Maidana would love to fight DSG, its perfect for him. Not a runner, not a holder, not that fast, power is not as good as Maidana.
Maidana bullies him and stops him.
One time baby. One time. Seeing how he handled guerrero, who is pretty big at welter. I get the feeling garcia would be in for a rough night.
Provo may even be willing to get in there. But maidana for me is the favourite. He's bully garcia like no tomorrow.
