Did the boxing gods also inject Mosley with PEDs without him knowing? :thinkerg:
No, the boxing Gods punished Mosley by having him knocked around by Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Lederman's card after 11 rounds
Dela Hoya 104 Whitaker 103, 6-5 for Oscar
Quartey 106 Dela Hoya 103, 7-4 for Ike
Dela Hoya 105 Trinidad 104, 6-5 for Oscar
considering how credible Harold Lederman is for HBO, Wow, Quartey really beat Dela Hoya, I wonder what was going thru the minds of Oscar fans that night going to the 12th round seeing an unofficial card on TV Dela Hoya trailing not just by a point but three points apart.
But lets give Oscar credit for taking on the best welterweights of his era all in a close, competitive fight.
You're right-that is a pretty strong card from Lederman
I've got Oscar, but I think there should have been a rematch. It was probably Oscar and his side holding back the rematch instead of the Quartey camp.
Karma comes for everyone though. Oscar lost to Shane, then went for the rematch because he was still the bigger star and he was trying to redem himself. Would Oscar have given Shane a rematch had he won? As we all know, Oscar fought Shane again and lost again. The boxing Gods weren't happy with Oscar not giving Quartey another shot though he deserved it.
Ward is a great fighter with a lot of promise. But Carl Froch is the truth who has more power, a better chin, and more experience. The fight will be great and Froch will be the lineal champ by the end of the night.:fest30:
that's all roger is good for, pad work.... he don't have any strategy.
100% right.
After Shame Mosley rocked Mayweather, the advice from the corner was "box the man, all you got to do is box the man". Real inspiring and strategic words.
Pac tried to copy Floyd and train ten weeks for Marquez, like Floyd did for Ortiz(always copying Mayweather...be YOU dawg...be YOU)...Pac was overtrained, and had no power to hurt Marquez....before the marquez fight, everyone said how pacbradley was a horrible fight, now all of a sudden its the greatest thing to happen to boxing...Pac's gonna KO Bradley in 3 rounds....Bradley is too small, and I dont see him surviving like Mosley...or else, we will get a pac vs Mosley fight all over again...Brad will run to survive, or he will foolishly try to engage, and get done up in 3 rounds tops....mismatch...Pac should be fighting Marquez & Mayweather...not Bradley
Mayweather doesn't want the fight.
I've seen the Marquez fight before- I want something new. Bradley is a young, hungry lion who deserves a shot. The best at 140- let's bring it on.
I've posted 10 times already that Tim Bradley will throw the fight. He's going to be Clottey pt. 2 in there. Bob Arum orders it...
Get bent....Bradley has a lot more soul...and pacquiao is simply a lot better than bradley
Mosley seems utterly convinced that he will be knocking out Pacquiao. He cites his power, chin, reach, and experience as being advantages. Mosley also believes that Pacquiao's style is going to be perfect for him.
The thing is, he also said lots of the same stuff concerning Floyd. After the loss, Mosley called Floyd "a mover". Well, in that fight, Floyd stood toe to toe with Shane in the center of the ring and beat him handily.
Look, we know Mosley wanted this fight real bad---enough to leave Golden Boy. And maybe he does see something with Pacquiao that he can exploit---but can he actually do it is another thing.
At the end of the day, Shane came after Pacquiao not the other way around. I don't fault Pacquiao for taking the fight. And Shane may be showing us all what the hardest thing in boxing is- knowing when it's time to leave.
I agree with many on here in that Arum will not put a meal ticket like Chavez Jr in there with David Lemeiux...that kid can punch and punch hard. Chavez could very well be knocked out in the first round.
Let's see Lemeiux go take on Canelo...that would be fun
One person who definately got exposed in the Berto-Ortiz clash was fat Dan.
Having Berto winning is brutal. Absolutely brutal.
Maybe he didn't watch the fight as he was too busy slurpin on Haymon's pole.
As good as the reports about Pacquiao are, let's remember that he has only sparred twice in the Phililpinnes.
Alex Ariza has been saying that Pacquiao is looking like he did in the Cotto camp- which, according to him, was Manny's best camp.
On the other hand, Mosley was in camp before Pacquiao, has been sparring longer, and is using more sparring partners.
That said, I don't think there is anything Mosley can do to derail the Pacman. Shane brags about his one punch power- but Cotto took his best shots and hung in there. So, even if Shane lands it doesn't mean good night Manny.
Like a lot of Pacquiao's opponents, it doesn't seem like Mosley really understands just who and what Manny Pacquiao really is. It's almost like Shane is underestimating Pacquiao by the way he is going on in interviews.
But if we look at Freddie Roach, he knows Mosley well and what he was once capable of. Freddie is not underestimating Shane like so much of the media and pundits are doing.
And Pacquiao, the price he paid for "the distractions" during the Margarito camp was truly knocked home the day after the fight when he was curled up in a fetal position in bed pretty much unable to move. Pacquiao knows what is at stake and he's acting like it.
Shane is probably going to get the worst ass kicking of his like. :boxing::spankme::spankme::spankme:
This was a major brain fart on the behalf of the Donaire camp.
Donaire is a great fighter, Top Rank is the number one promotional company and they have lots of good fighters around at slightly higher weights- I still can't quite figure the motivation on the part of Donaire for this one.
Manny is incredible. I am fascinated every fight I see him in. We get to witness one of the greatest fighters in history so let's enjoy it.
Right on the money. Agree 100%
You're talking about that ultra secret rehydration clause with DLH? That was crazy how Arum told Oscar he would kill him if he ever mentioned a word of that to anyone else. Even today Oscar lives in fear that he might let that slip and pay the price.
What? Can you post a link or drop a source?
With Margarito, it all comes down to whether or not you can hurt him. Out punch him like Shane, or hit and move like Pacquiao---that kept him at bay.
Otherwise, if he can walk through your punches, you will get hurt---Cotto, Cintron, etc.
Ortiz #5 P4P....these guys are getting carried away....they act like Berto was some kind of great fighter with a serious resume under his belt.
Berto was overhyped and Ortiz had low expectations.
Pacquiao, Mayweather, Mosley, Bradley, Khan, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Cintron, Maidana---all of them take Ortiz out---maybe even Clottey too. Ortiz still has a lot of learning to do.
I'll take a third Marquez fight all day.
As for Floyd, he's turned down 50 mill, denied he was in negotiations, demanded 100 mill, won't answer calls, etc. etc.....where is floyd? oh yeah, he said he has retired. Why should Manny wait around for a guy who doesn't even fight anymore?
Is Khan being a cheap a$$ at the negotiating table again? His "team" have a real record of this.
Bradley should get the 50/50 split, or 40/60, then polish up that head real nice and lower the boom on 'king con'
Both fighters will come into the ring in the mid-40s, Pacquiao somewhat higher...perhaps 148, give or take a pound. I see no problem for the weights.
Mayweather, according to Marquez, weighed upwards over 160 on fight night...a solid 20lbs heavier...funny how Floyd never stepped onto the HBO scale that night.
Last fight night weights
Marquez 145
Pacquiao 148
Martinez 168
Translation= Pacquiao is a coward for not moving up to face Martinez. Pacquiao is a coward for not moving down so he won't weigh 3 pounds more than Marquez.
This is silly. If Martinez is so brave, why doesn't he go fight the big boys at 168 like Froch, Ward, Bute, Kessler, etc....why does Martinez need to fight another smaller guy. The last guy he fought was ranked 8 in the junior middleweight division....i love to watch martinez fight, but he is a middle weight pure and simple...to call Pacquiao a coward is unfounded.
I agree with the initial post that Floyd came back more for the money than to fight Pacquiao. And Floyd certainly did rack up the cash after Marquez and Mosley. Now that he has cash, he certainly has no intention of getting in the ring with Pacquiao. As Richard Schafer said, "Manny just doesn't win. He hurts people".
And if Floyd just wanted to come back and make some cash, get the IRS off his back, etc. people would be fine with that. Who could blame the man for wanting to make millions if he can?
The problem with Floyd is, he also happens to call himself the best, call Pacquiao down, insult him, demean him, condensend and disrespect Manny Pacquiao. Fine. But if you talk the talk, you have to---HAVE TO-- walk the walk. And Floyd, for all his talent and pedigree, will not step up against Pacquiao. That makes him a punk.
The irony for Floyd is an interesting one. Pacquiao showed compassion against Cotto and Margarito and took his foot off the gas pedal. He is not going to show anything other than vengance toward Mayweather and really try to hurt him seriously.
Besides, Pacquiao is Roman-Catholic, he can ask for forgiveness at confessional.
Great question.
At this point, I'd take Lemieux. Kirkland was staggered on the weekend and if there's one thing Lemieux can do, it's punch.
How good is Lemieux? Tough to say since his fights don't last. But he is well trained by Russ Anber and Lemieux is being brought along at a good pace, and compared to Canelo- he's under the radar.
For the business side of Manny Pacquiao, this is an important development.
The book PacMan by Andrew Poole had an entire chapter devoted to how Pacquiao is attempting to "go global" but the entourage around him is so f**ked up and disorganized, that they mess up all kinds of deals.
Having one source to go to for Pacquiao "branding" seems like a reasonable, order out of chaos, type of solution. In the end, they will all increase revenue. A guy like Todd DeBouf is probably the one turning the wheels of this machine.
And who is missing out on the revenue? Who is not getting paid? Floyd "Money" Mayweather is missing out on the potential revenue stream and not getting paid.
Why is "Money" not getting paid? Why is "Money" having to supplement his income with sports gambling? Because he wants a 100 million dollar guarantee. In other words, he won't fight Pacquiao for any less than 100 million dollars.
Now that's irony in more ways than one.
100 million dollars? Random blood tests right up to the fight? Mayweather's name first in the promotion? Spies coming to watch Pacquiao train?
1. Floyd is out of his scared out of his mind.
2. Roger Mayweather has no idea who Pacquiao is.
3. The Mayweathers will be haunted by Pacquiao the more they avoid him.
Thomas Hauser's article on Mayweather, Pacquiao, PEDs and Boxing is quite informative.
Even back in Dec. 2009 and Jan. 2010, there were plenty of experienced boxing commentators, such as Al Bernstein, who thought it was "patently obvious that Floyd did not want the fight".
After all this time, what do we learn? Pacquiao is willing to give way on testing. Pacquiao is willing to let Mayweather's name come first in the promotion. Mayweather goes on vacation, then retirement, then jail...now court...and oh, yeah, he won't get in the ring with Pacquiao for anything less than 100 million.
Floyd is haunted by Pacquiao
