I watched the fight twice last night. Cotto fought a lot smarter than in the first fight, but he was fading!!!! Watch the 9th round. He was holding that whole round. Margarito was finally landing punches in bunches. Look at Cotto's expression at the end of that round. He knew he was in for 9 more minutes of HELL!!! Look at Margarito at the end of round 9. He motions to his corner that Cotto is done. Like I said Cotto fought smarter last night, but he was starting to fade.

In fact, he hurt Pac-man in that fight and his gloves weren't "loaded". The guy hits hard and puts on tremendous pressure and that's why Cotto was holding the whole 9th round. I just watched the last round on YouTube. Margarito clearly had his best round. Cotto landed some good shots, but he landed great shots in the first fight in rounds 9 and 10. In fact, Cotto won round 9 in the first fight on Ledermans scorecard and would have won round 10 if didn't get hurt at the end of the round. Margarito was started to hunt Cotto down. Go watch the last round. Cotto was running for dear life. And don't give me this stupid answer that the only one who was in danger of getting KO'd was Margarito. In two fights, Cotto hit Margarito with everything and didn't hurt him once. Go watch the last round and tell me Margarito wasn't coming on. Look at Margarito at the end of the round. Its not the punches its the pace. In the words of Emmanuel Steward "Pressure from a taller fighter is different". Margarito is non stop agression and that's why Cotto faded in the first fight. Ricardo Lopez had Cotto out on his feet for god's sake. Nobody has proof Margarito loaded his gloves in their first fight. What we do know for sure is that with legit hand wraps against Pacquiao, Margarito broke a couple of his ribs and had him in more trouble than any other fighter in recent memory. Finally, Margarito's chin wasn't loaded and that boy took Cotto's shots and kept on coming.

Who is back peddling to the other side of the ring constantly? Who is coming forward like a maniac? The pace was starting to pick up. Margarito threw 100 punches in that round. He has clear advantages in speed, technique, footwork, defense, and probably power. But Margarito has advantages too. His advantages are size, stamina, and pound for pound the best ****ing chin in boxing. In that last round Margarito's advantages were starting to show. Cotto was in for 9 minutes of hell.

If Floyd is going to fight this year, I think Cotto would give him a tough fight. Floyd has only KO 1 of his last 6 opponents(Hatton). A combination of Cott's jab and physical strength would give Floyd a lot to handle. IMO it would be a way more competitive fight than Cotto vs Pac was.
If this fight happens, it will break records. People are estimating 3-4 million ppv buys, possibly even close to 5 million. That would be double Floyd vs Oscar. Those kind of numbers aren't even a possibility if its not the two best and most popular fighters in the world. Name me another fighter Floyd could face and approach those numbers. That fighter doesn't exist. The same is true for Manny. Those kind of numbers are only a possibility if there are two icons standing across from each other in that ring. Its PAC's speed of both hand and foot and awkward punching angles that give him a legitimate shot of beating Mayweather. I would slightly favor Floyd because of his pure boxing ability, but he would get hit more than he ever has in this fight. Can he take Manny's punches? I also think Pac being shorter gives him an advantage because he can explode up on Floyd. You can't really judge on both of their recent fights because no one they fought is like either of them. De la Hoya was slow and stiff, Hatton(enough said), Marquez looked good against Pac, but he was a blown up lightweight when he fought Floyd, Cotto has good boxing skill, but no where near Floyd ability plus he was a damaged fighter, Zab Judah is a little like Pac, but is a mental case. Pac has never faced a boxer the caliber of Mayweather and Floyd has never been in the ring with a fighter with the speed and power of Pac. In fact, there is no fighter in the world today with the fighting style of Pac. He is truely unique. What I'm saying is anything can happen. Floyd could box his ears off or Pac could break him down and knock him out. I don't have the slightest idea. Hopefully we all get to find out.
What the Clottey fight showed me is that Pac is more than happy to earn a decision. Clottey never opened up and gave Pac the chance to counter. Floyd fights the same way. His defensive first attitude is what has kept Floyd from taking punishment, but it is also why he will lose against Pac. The guy threw 1200 punches for christ sake. Pac will be satisfied to hit arm because it wins rounds. Pac's unbelievable work rate will make him victorious against Floyd.
Floyd asked for a 14 day cut off, so Pac's going to give him a 14 day cut off. Technically, he doesn't have to give him shit. Pac can make his $20 million fighting Margarito packing Cowboy's stadium. You gotta remember that Pac would also be tested right after the fight in the locker room. I find it hard to believe he can not roid up till two weeks from the fight without it being detected in the post fight test. That shit stays in your system. The idea Marquez has Manny's number is laughable. His ass got put on the canvas 4 times. IMO, Pac won both fights. He would have one the first fight if one of the judges scored the fight correctly. He gave Pac a 10-7 first round instead of a 10-6 first round. The judge later admitted his mistake.

I didn't make up this thread. If it's stupid to entertain a fight between Cotto and Morales because of the size difference, then don't try to compare Cotto to Morales on how he will do against Pac. The size and power difference between Morales and Cotto makes their similarities as fighters irrelevant.
My first post on this forum. Erik Morales might have been a better fighter than Cotto, but Miguel is a lot bigger. People are underestimating how much bigger Cotto will be on fight night than Pacquiao. He is going to come in between 155-160. The only man to ever beat Cotto was almost 6' and was simply a bigger man. It still took 11 brutal rounds to make Cotto quit. JMM was able to hurt Pac-Man, don't tell me Cotto can't do the same. Hell No, but Baldomir could land against Margarito. It will be almost two years since Pac had a tough fight when he steps into that ring with Cotto. I guarantee you on Nov. 14 Pac will be in the toughest fight of his life. I don't know I can say the same for Cotto.
Cotto would kill Morales because he is just too big. He would use his boxing skill and take apart Gatti. Mickey Ward had Gatti in series trouble for God's sake. Now let's look at who Cotto has fought; Mosely(that's right somebody had the balls to fight Sugar Shane), Margarito(another member of who has Flody ducked club), Judah(beat the shit out of him), Clottey(the most avoided man in the division). Not to mention his next fight is against the #1 P4P fighter in the world. Finally, I never said Pac is too little for Floyd because what Saturday proved without a shadow of a doubt is that Mayweather hits like a bitch. Even with all the physical advantages he posessed he couldn't hurt Marquez because Floyd can't stop anybody with any heart. Pac-Man's heart is the size of the country he comes from and Floyd will find out first hand.
The last time I was this exicited about a fight was Margarito vs. Cotto. I'm even more excited now because Pac is my favorite fighter and I will be watching it with a bunch of Puerto Ricans. Mark my words; We will remember this fight for years to come.
