If Canelo fights Saunders and takes the WBO belt, that just gives him more leverage against GGG. Saunders will take the fight because it will give him a career high payday so why not?
I've heard different stories. For example you have Thurman who says he usually get's about 3 names to choose from and I know Abner Mares has said something along the lines of you pick who you want to fight. Then you have the other side where it seems like Leo Santa Cruz fights whomever Al tells him to. Sounds like it just depends on the fighter if Al makes the first and final decision or makes a recommendation and they choose.
I watched the movie last night. I was sitting two rows behind Brandon Rios and it was hilarious to see his reaction when Victor Ortiz appeared on the screen.
Maybe Billy Hope was like Golovkin and let guys hit him in the face on purpose. That's why he had to learn defense when he finally fought someone who was elite.
:lol1:
Seriously? I wish I could have been there to see that.
Yeah, he was right there in front of me. Talked to him for a few minutes while we were in the popcorn line also. He told me how Brook lowballed him during negotiations, wouldn't let him use his gloves and how he wasn't cool with the rematch clause.

Isn't that the same guy who during the lead up to the Maidana fight told Robert Garcia that he would "squish him like a bug". I just remember thinking that Robert would light him up even if he has a lot smaller than him. This video proves that point haha.
And as expected none of them are Van Heerden or Bundu. Khan and his desperate herd of minions take another L :lol1:
My guess is it'll be Diego Chaves which will count as Brook's next mandatory.
Also interesting to note that they agreed to rematch Rios in America if he had beaten Brook in the UK. As I also suspected, Bum Bum just didn't want the fight.
I ran into Brandon about a week ago and that is not what he told me. He told me that Brook didn't want him to wear his gloves, low balled him on the offer AND wanted the rematch in the UK.
It's very simple. Is anyone a fan of "caneloweight"? No, but in boxing the A-Side always dictates terms. Floyd went from 147 to 154 for his money fight. If he didn't, maybe he never becomes "Money Mayweather". To get the belt AND put the biggest name on your resume, GGG is going to have to bend over to Canelo. Plain and simple. Then maybe he becomes the biggest name and PPV sell in boxing.
I'd like to see it happen...I think Bud wins on points and makes Broner look bad. But Broner won't get stopped though, if he didn't get stopped in the Maidana beating than he's not gonna get stopped by Crawford.
I actually think Crawford could stop Broner because he's a much better body puncher than Maidana is.
Fernando hasn't seen a medium shirt since elementary school.
I went to high school with Fernando and he was wearing a medium back then. Only problem is that he should have been wearing a Large or XL.
- Its boxing, smart boxing. There are alot great fighters who do this, its a foul. As long as you dont go nuts with it like Golata, then its fine.
I see what you did there
Cotto is in his right to drop the belt and say F you to the WBC for wanting so much money but at the same time GGG agreed to step aside when he was next in line in return for 800K to allow this fight to happen. This isn't about who should move up or who should fight who, this is about an agreement that was made between two grown men and one of the men has decided to not hold up his end of the bargain after the other already has.
Is this fight not for the European title? Gennady continues to shirk from world level. Until he fights the likes of cotto, Alvarez, ward, or quillin he shouldn't be PPV.
Did you really include Quillin in the same list with those other guys?
you are the idiot of the day cotto has no problem fighting ggg if only ggg steps up and fight big names instead of bums like Monroe ggg name is not making the money it should because ggg is fighting guys below him
As opposed to Cotto who is fight GGG leftovers?
I'm a fan of Lara but I see the whole point of the PBC to try and capture the casual fan. I can't think of a way to turn off the casual fan faster than by having Lara in a main event fight. They're not going to appreciate his style at all.
If Lee beats Saunders then Jacobs/Lee is next and hopefully Canelo/GGG gets made. Winners fight each other for middleweight supremacy. Now that Nelson is in charge over at HBO, maybe we get Jacobs vs Canelo/GGG on HBO.
Cotto is going the Pacquiao route and saying he won a fight he clearly lost. Of course, all of the excuses are coming out " well Canelo is a LHW out there ". That just makes Floyd's win over Canelo that much better now right? A welterweight in Floyd was able to walk down the bigger, stronger man and stand and trade with him in the pocket, something Cotto could not do.
I can see both sides here. Ward going down to 164 after fighting at a CW of 172 is going to be hard on his body. Meanwhile, it sounds as if GGG is almost guaranteed the winner of Canelo/Cotto so going up to full 168 and then having to drop back down to 160 or potentially as low as 156 will be hard on his body. Especially knowing that will be a big money fight no matter who wins that fight.
Yup Khan, Floyd and Manny just continue to duck you. They are just so afraid of you and can't admit it. That combination of bricks for hands and steel for a chin has everyone shook. If only they were man enough like the Collazo and Diaz' of the world, then you would get your mega fight.
Yes Freddie, we know that every single one of your fighters is going to knock out every guy who steps in the ring with them. Manny was going to knock out Floyd and now Cotto is going to knock out GGG. With that being said, if Cotto and GGG ever did fight that would be an epic 24/7. Roach and Abel talking a bunch of smack back and forth, Cotto referring to himself in 3rd person and GGG and his bad english. That would be pretty legendary.
Floyd has fought everybody that he's been asked to in the last few years and Berto is a soft touch which Floyd has earned at this point. Although, Berto is on by far the biggest stage of his career and has a good trainer in his corner so I wouldn't be completely shocked if he has a good showing that night and comes to fight.
I agree with Floyd on what he said, exception being is that Oscar is the one who brought the money to the lower divisions.
I totally agree with you. David doesn't look scared at all. He feels really confident right now and I'm rooting for him (Im a Montrealer). I don't know if he'll win but there's one thing i'm sure of : It will be an amazing fight and David, whether he wins or lose, will earn the respect of every boxing fans.
This right here. Lemieux doesn't have it in him to go into "survive mode" so win or lose, he will gain the respect of boxing fans everywhere. For some reason I get the feeling that a lot of casual fans are going to tune into this fight because they've heard the name GGG so it's going to be a coming out party for Lemieux as well.
